Dead 20 years and still one of the funniest people ever

I used to know a woman who worked for Buddy way back when. She was young and beautiful and told me that Buddy was always a total gentleman towards her, no foul language, no hitting on her. His act was an act, a funny one too but he was a class act.

Very funny men. They just don't make comedians like they use to. Thank God for youtube. We get to watch these treasures instead if the crap thats on TV these days.

Hackett was one of my favorite guests, I know the jokes he was telling during the commercials had to be the good ones.

I once heard him describe the jokes he told during commercials on the tonight show as “jokes that would make you piss yourself dry”

I came across Don Rickles about 12months ago,and now Buddy Hackett. These guys are just brilliant

I played an Eddie Fisher show in Pittsburgh in the early 60's. Buddy Hackett was Fisher's warmup. Both were master entertainers. I don't remember much about the music but Hackett had the huge audience in stitches for about 40 mins.

Roy Rogers and Buddy Hacket together on a set!? Bouncing off each other!? Rogers was clearly feeling like he just landed on another planet. It was like...like....Tevye the dairyman meets President Lincoln...or...like Roy Rogers meets Buddy Hacket! Fall off my chair funny.

I wonder if there's any chance you have any of Lee Marvin's appearances to show us? If not, just keep doin' as you're doin', but t'would be lovely to see, thanks!

Last November I clicked on a random KZread suggestion video where Don was roasting the then governor Reagan and since then Don Rickles led me to Johnny Carson, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Buddy Hackett, Ed McMahon and many more. All this out of nowhere.

Roy Rogers was actually a nice Jewish boy named Leonard Slye. I wonder if Buddy knew that at the time? He might have, from the little sidelong look he gave Roy.

He was NOT Jewish. He and Dale were outspoken Christians who belonged to The Hollywood Christian Group along with Jane Russell and Billy Graham.

You can. call Roy a Jew if you want but personally I'd rather respect what a person does in this life rather than label him based on what a bunch of dead people were or did.

You know buddy was really never funny, it was very strange. It was almost like he was a type of character that one would never know if what he said was going to be totally dumb and or even make sense . He appears to have been like a nice guy. I tell you what I remember driving in LA many times and I used to see Buddy Hackett driving his car. I would waive at him and he would always be a someone wto waive back. I think he would have been a more interesting character if they would have casted him better then they could have shown how much funnier he could have been.

First of all the correct way to describe your fetal attempt would be to compare Fallon to Johnny Carson, seeing that Carson is the gold standard that all late night TV hosts are compared with. That said NO ONE CAN EVER BE COMPARED TO JOHNNY CARSON AS A LATE NIGHT TV HOST!!!

Hackett had a special mix of Jewish and New York humor. You had to understand both of them to get him. Some people did and some didn't.
