Buddha’s 3 Rules For Mending A Broken Heart
Ouch.
Painful huh?
Broken hearts are just the worst. The end of a relationship can devastate us in ways we never thought possible, wrecking our image, trust, and ability to love again. But fear not! Surprisingly, Buddhism has some fantastic wisdom to give in this department. Who would’ve thought Buddha could have such profound wisdom for heartbreak?
Buddha’s advice can be summed up by Pema Chodron: “Feel the feelings. Drop the story.”
Remember this - love can never be made safe. It is the opposite of safe. It takes courage to love, and so you must learn how to embrace that. Here’s how.

1) Take a step back from your thoughts
The reality is strong emotions put us in touch with a part of ourselves that’s not healthy at all: obsessive thinking.
“I should have…If only….why didn’t he say…how dare she…I hate love…” on and on. It’s quite amazing we do this to ourselves. But without addressing our mind going in a million different directions, the chances of being able to work with your feelings in a positive way is pretty small. But relax! There is a remedy: discipline.
There is an ancient Buddhist practice of mindfulness that does wonders for our thought process. By doing this, your mind can remain steady and calm. The technique? Just watch the thoughts. It’s so simple, right? Doing this practice every day will radically change your mindset. Most people try and control the thoughts, and squash negativity - but that doesn’t work.
Just watch the thoughts. It’s so simple, right? Doing this practice every day will radically change your mindset. Most people try and control the thoughts, and squash negativity - but that doesn’t work. Instead, watching the thoughts shows you (quite powerfully) the fact that you are NOT your thoughts. There is a part of you that’s separate from the negativity that spins you in a million different directions.
2) Keep your heart broken - and open
After you’ve attained some clarity in your thoughts, your attention will immediately go where the pain is - the heart. Heartbreak can be the worst kind of pain, worse than even broken bones. After all, bones hurt for a time, but heartache can go on and on forever. That is, until, you let it go.
Like a raw, open wound, the heart longs to be rejoined to its safe space. So it’s easy to try and close it back up, right? That’s the quickest way to stop the hurt. But that’s not the right way. Instead, Buddha and Buddhism say this is the best chance to lay the groundwork of kindness, compassion, and the ability to connect deeply to those around us. That’s why you need to leave it broken.
Yes. Leave it broken.
You must learn to shift you heart away from looking for someone to love you, and towards looking to give away your love. This is probably the most powerful lesson of Buddha. With this small change in thought, the entire world changes. Think about it like this: if you’re waiting for someone to love you in order to give your love back, you are putting a condition on your love. This is the way of selfish love.
Conversely, if you give your love away freely (such as volunteer work) your heart expands. This is the secret way to heal a broken heart, forever.
3) Embrace your life as a path
With a clear mind and an open heart, the last stage because simple
and easy. This is not a practice…it’s a natural state that every person is capable of, and honestly, deserves.
The disappointment and pain of heartache can shatter us…or bring us in touch with something we already know we are.
Remember: you are more powerful than you realize.
Your entire life, from start to finish, becomes a spiritual path. The foundation of a strong mind and open heart creates an authentic
life of joy, giving, meetings and partings, and deep meaning. This is a powerful story created by you and your life path.

After a broken heart people had a hard time believing/ trusting other person. When i asked them the reason they said that someone previous broke my heart and that I don't want anyone to do that again. So for my fellow friends if you think your heart is broken and you don't want anyone to hurt again that means your heart never ever broked in the first place. It's just a feeling stored in your subconscious mind that, your heart is broken. Once you get this and accept the fact your life will be peaceful...

If there is something major I have learnt from heartbreak it is : at times it hurts so bad, love is not so easily given the second time around, there is more diligence and discernment involved, I believe that is the lesson. I am not one to give love or trust so easily anymore nor do I have expectations of love, putting expectations on love is the exact same as placing conditions.

What I learned about myself after a breakup is my part in it all, and how I worked towards forgiving myself with compassion. I saw something that reminded me of myself and understood that it was a reflection of what I desired and wanted not what they desired and wanted. I believed in them because I believed in me. It's not about their choices as much as it is about what we do with the pain we experience. I chose to become more loving, more beautiful and compassionate. I refuse to let the hurt make me angry, bitter and nasty because I love myself more.

Laura Gadille yes, its very very painful - suffering as discoursed by The Buddha in The Four Noble Truth. The Five Precepts / The Six Paramitas / The Noble Eightfold Path etc. can liberate u from the suffering and refresh ur life. Suffering comes from a strong attachment towards the subject. Furthermore, in Dhammapada, Buddha taught : the hatred will never be appeased by hatred, it can only be appeased by loving kindness. Pls practise Vipassana Meditation. When times come, u can recover from the heartbroken. Best Regards.

babita bhatt I am hurt form a recent break up but what I took from this video is different. I gave my love and though it wasn't reciprocated I should be happy that I was given the opportunity to give what is so precious to me. Yes it Hurts not to feel it in return but the more you give love without condition the better you will feel in the long run. You need to do what's right always by giving your true self. If a person can't appreciate that then share it with others because someone will.

FitTech you are absolutely right in whatever you said dear. I did not expected anything in return. I trusted him blindly. It really kills u when that is broken. People change. I was not the only one impacted but my entire family coz they loved him too. Anyway we have to move on.

babita bhatt it's not easy and if or when the tears fall don't concentrate on the hurt they caused you. Focus on the love you gave and how good that felt. You will smile while crying and as the tears stop you will still be smiling.

Its saying you have to allow yourself to let it heal on its own and trust that it will. Aome either believe it won't or force it to before its time. Its like tug of war. You keep pulling and eventually you fall or your pulled in. Being aware is very helpful.

Thank you! A strong mind and an open heart! or "Quiet the mind and open the heart!" Lindsay Wagner (" Bionic Woman" ) 1.You can be a master of your mind: You say, what your mind shall do and it must do so, if you insist! 2. The only one, that you can rely on, is God. His love will never disappoint you. Human love is limited, but if you can connect it with divine love, it cannot disappoint you, because you have no expectations. The love is in your self, it is divine and unbreakable!

I made a mistake over and over again she gives shoes, she brings me food, she gives me her time, she drives going at our house. I just didn’t care her well. I just migrated to Canada 🇨🇦. And I’m becoming an opposite man. I was a caring and gentle man back from home a while ago. Maybe it’s because it’s her existence when she was still there in my arms. which is I always make it easy the way she do efforts now she’s happy. I broke her heart, now she broke mine. I regret a lot n’ cry , I’ll be okay. 💔
