The Suvarna Bhumi airport displays a magnificent Statue of Lord Vishnu representing the "Churning of the Ocean of Milk" scene. Thankfully there are no Seculars and Leftist in Thailand to drive a wedge between Buddhist and Hindu traditions !

No. The royal family do not follow hindu festival or rituals. They follow Buddhist customs from coronation to funeral. A king of Thailand must be a Buddhist only, no other religious including a hindu is allowed to became a king in Thailand.

สถานที่สำคัญทางพระพุทธศาสนา เช่น สังเวชนียสถาน (รวมถึงพระบรมสารีริกธาตุ) พระพุทธองค์ตรัสว่าเป็นที่ตั้งแห่งความสังเวช สังเวชในทางพระพุทธศสานาไม่ใช่แปลว่า "รู้สึกเศร้าสลดหดหู่" แต่คำว่า "สังเวช" นี้ เป็นรูปกริยาของคำนามว่า "สังเวค" คือ "สํ" (พรั่ง, พร้อม) + "เวค" (กำลังแรง, ความเร็ว) จึงแปลว่า แรงพลุ่ง, แรงเร่ง, แรงกระตุ้น หรือพลังที่ปลุกเร้า หมายถึง แรงกระตุ้นเร้าเตือนใจ ให้ได้คิดหรือสำนึกขึ้นมาได้ ให้คิดถึงธรรม หรือตระหนักถึงความจริงความดีงาม อันทำให้ตื่นหรือถอนตัวขึ้นมาจากความเพลิดเพลิน ความหลงละเลิงปล่อยตัวมัวเมา หรือความประมาท แล้วหักหันไปเร่งเพียรทำการที่ตระหนักรู้ว่าจะพึงทำด้วยความไม่ประมาทต่อไป ผู้ที่ไปนมัสการเป็นการไปเห็นสิ่งที่จะเตือนใจเราให้เกิดกุศลธรรมในใจ คือเกิดพลังแรงในการที่จะเจริญในกุศลธรรมให้มากยิ่งขึ้น ...ดังนั้นกรณีที่อาจมีผู้ตั้งคำถาม คลางแคลงถึงความจริงแท้หรือไม่ ถ้าพิจารณาให้ดีแล้วจะเห็นได้ว่าความจริงแท้หรือไม่ ไม่ใช่เป็นสิ่งที่สำคัญเลย

ไปเห็นแล้วเกิดความสังเวชว่า แม้แต่พระพุทธเจ้าผู้ตรัสรู้แล้ว ก็ยังไม่พ้นความตาย(ปรินิพพาน)แล้วนับประสาอะไรกับคนธรรมดาอย่างเรา เพราะฉะนั้นจะได้เร่งรีบทำความดีก่อนตาย เพราะไหนๆก็ต้องตาย เป็นการสรา้งอนุสาวรีย์ไว้ให้คนชั้นหลังได้ระลึกถึงต่อไป เหมือนกับรุ่นเรากำลังระลึกถึง(คุณความดีของ)พระพุทธเจ้า
