Buckling a child in a booster

Correct method for buckling a child in a high-back booster seat.
Remember a child MUST weigh at least 40 lb to use a booster seat, and that maturity is very important. Children under 5 should not typically be using a booster seat.

Are you supposed to pull the top part so it locks in or just keep it normal?

The seat belt locking is only to secure a regular child carseat (before booster stage)to the vehicle itself correct? Never to be used to hold child in the physical seat, correct? It will lock if there was an accident correct?

Does it need the teether or the latch system

Never use latch or top tether for booster. Latch tethering Max' weight is 40/45 lbs., dangerous if accident occurs with older child, not sure if it's okay to be supplemented with other methods of securing seat

It depends on the car seat. I have a Graco Atlas and it is to be used with tether, LATCH is ok to keep it in place but shouldn’t be used if it interferes with seatbelt. I believe it’s up to 100 lbs to be able to use the LATCH.

@@HmmNamey yes a top tether should always be used for front facing seats, typical anchors will not be able to function past their specific weight limit for each brand. You must also include the car seats weight in addition to the child's weight to find total vs available.

A booster may or may not come with latch. In the case of a booster, the lower anchors are ONLY there to keep it from shifting around when the child climbs in and to prevent it from becoming a projectile when unoccupied. If your booster does not have lower anchors, it should always be buckled in when not in use. If your seat converts from a harnessed seat, it may also have a top tether, the top tether is typically not required in booster mode but you should always double check with the manufacturer's instructions.

I did until I was 12 and my parents tried everything to make me stop but I didn't, they gave up when I was 9 and I just stop one day. They also never ask my sister to stop, she just did at 10. I really don't see how it's bad parenting tbh '-'. It pass naturally one day. Forcing it is bad parenting, but it's just my opinion and experience.

I agree with you @ender-creeper6088 and @kellyreinhold7295 I refrain from judging or shaming parents in general, especially just based off one video ... that's just shameful human-ing 🤢 . You'll be happy to know that my daughter is 8 NOW (was 6 in this video) and is really proud of having stopped sucking her thumb on her own; by the age of this video she was only doing it when she was tired and it was an effective self-soothing tool for her. I was careful to check in with our orthodontist to ensure her bite wasn't being affected as thumb sucking can be, but honestly all humans have self soothing strategies and children are humans.

The child shows respect to herself and, to whom I presume is, her mom. Sucking her thumb is a comfy act to negate interacting via camera with dummies like you. My toddler granddaughter sucks her thumb and uses that same thumb to flip pages in her Bible “to read.” She also uses that same thumb to happily wave at and say hello to others. My point? The child is pretty well rounded thumb sucking and all. I do agree that it is best to keep thumb sucking in context of the child’s daily behaviors to know if thumb sucking is cause for concern.

shame on you as a human being. She's doing a great job parenting considering she's properly securing her child AND sharing for others. Each child is different. You don't know ANYTHING about this child. What if the child is on the spectrum or something else? WHO are you to judge?! Shame on you, awful.

Seriously? Who are you to shame someone else’s parenting? I never thumb sucked and neither ha my 7 yr old but allowing your child to self soothe in this way isn’t shameful like you said, you sound insane. Besides most parents of them suckers, will try and get their kids to stop and they eventually stop on their own, not like you can hide their fingers from them.
