I offer car seat support via text and video call: you can book at CarSeatCubs.ca
I am a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) based in Calgary, Alberta. My goal is to educate caregivers on how to choose and use the best car seat for their child, their vehicle and their budget. This channel is home to my demonstration videos as a resource for both my clients and other caregivers in Canada and the US. Remember that my videos are not a substitute for reading your vehicle owner's manual AND the manual for your car seat or booster seat. I hope all caregivers with children in car seats take the time to meet with a CPST. Canadians can find a CPST near them at cpsac.org/findatech

I know this video is so old but do you have tips for forward facing installation?? I have the graco contender slim with the closed belt path can’t find ANYTHING online to help me get a tight FF installation
Literally better than the stupid companies videos!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Late to this video, I have a similar carseat with a snuglock lever. My car seat belts have a little round plastic button in them and when I install using the seat belt the little plastic button is inside where the lock off lever latches. Is that ok? Or will it damage the seat belt to my car and make the install unsafe?
Thank you for this video! I couldn't get the car seat tight enough until I tried your tip about pulling the tail through the car seat instead of out.
Where do you connect that strap in the car? And how about the angle? How do you adjust it to the correct colour?
How many single dads are as grateful for this as I am lol. 😂 Thanks for the help.
Trash car seat. Instructions are wack, doesn’t feel secure at all. DO NOT BUY. Got a different brand and it was much easier Evenflo is trash.
You are qt
Sucking her thumb? 🤦🏻♂️
Are you supposed to pull the top part so it locks in or just keep it normal?
Don’t lock the seat belt.
Don’t lock the seat belt.
The seat belt locking is only to secure a regular child carseat (before booster stage)to the vehicle itself correct? Never to be used to hold child in the physical seat, correct? It will lock if there was an accident correct?
All I’m thinking is get your thumb out of your mouth your to old for that!!! 😮
Thank you so much! ❤
Why haven’t the companies made videos like this ?? This is such a great video. Thanks so much
Some companies have decent videos but really, they should just hire me, right!!
Thank you !
You're welcome!
how do you keep the carseat from flipping up towards the vehicle seat? There also seems to be a lot of play at the front of the carseat.
This will depend a lot on the seat, but ultimately a correctly installed seat should be tested for movement ONLY at the belt path, not by pushing and pulling it at the back of the seat. My best advice to be sure everything is correct with your specific seat is to meet with a CPST near you.
Game changing tip right here
Thank you so much mama
❤❤
Thank you so much! The instructions are so hard to understand! But your video makes it so much easier! 😄
This was the most helpful video ever. Thank you 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Why in God’s name is that 8 year old sucking her thumb 🤢 shame on you parent
I did until I was 12 and my parents tried everything to make me stop but I didn't, they gave up when I was 9 and I just stop one day. They also never ask my sister to stop, she just did at 10. I really don't see how it's bad parenting tbh '-'. It pass naturally one day. Forcing it is bad parenting, but it's just my opinion and experience.
I agree with you @ender-creeper6088 and @kellyreinhold7295 I refrain from judging or shaming parents in general, especially just based off one video ... that's just shameful human-ing 🤢 . You'll be happy to know that my daughter is 8 NOW (was 6 in this video) and is really proud of having stopped sucking her thumb on her own; by the age of this video she was only doing it when she was tired and it was an effective self-soothing tool for her. I was careful to check in with our orthodontist to ensure her bite wasn't being affected as thumb sucking can be, but honestly all humans have self soothing strategies and children are humans.
The child shows respect to herself and, to whom I presume is, her mom. Sucking her thumb is a comfy act to negate interacting via camera with dummies like you. My toddler granddaughter sucks her thumb and uses that same thumb to flip pages in her Bible “to read.” She also uses that same thumb to happily wave at and say hello to others. My point? The child is pretty well rounded thumb sucking and all. I do agree that it is best to keep thumb sucking in context of the child’s daily behaviors to know if thumb sucking is cause for concern.
shame on you as a human being. She's doing a great job parenting considering she's properly securing her child AND sharing for others. Each child is different. You don't know ANYTHING about this child. What if the child is on the spectrum or something else? WHO are you to judge?! Shame on you, awful.
Seriously? Who are you to shame someone else’s parenting? I never thumb sucked and neither ha my 7 yr old but allowing your child to self soothe in this way isn’t shameful like you said, you sound insane. Besides most parents of them suckers, will try and get their kids to stop and they eventually stop on their own, not like you can hide their fingers from them.
thanks.. i almost want to tear the whole back seat of my car because i can't tighten it up..
I hope this helps you!
I needed this so badly dude thank you
Nice thank you!
I’m a CPST and a member in some car seat groups on FB. Came looking for a reference video to show someone how to get a better/tighter lower anchor install for their infant base. Found your video & wanted to say thank you for having this great detailed but simple video explaining the steps! Most videos showing the tightening of the lower anchor through the inside of the path do it on a convertible seat!
I'm glad it was helpful! I don't really keep my KZread up to date but I am glad my vidoes are being found!
Your video is waaaay better than those by Graco
Thank you!
Do I have to put the anchor on the top back of the car if I use this method?
the top tether should always be used for a forward-facing harnessed seat; in Canada it is required by law
I was almost gonna freak out! My car seat was still wiggling around and I gave it another shot after watching your video. Nice and secure now. Thank you!
The latch under the seat is that to have the Carseat more inclined? I have the same seat but the person who installed it didn’t put up the latch and I feel when my baby sleeps her head flops because the seat is upright where I feel like if it’s inclined she’ll have more of a laying down position which I would feel like she’ll be more comfy
If you are using the Sonus in rear-facing mode, you MUST have the rear-facing foot out and the seat must be installed at the correct angle; the line etched on the side needs to be parallel with the ground.
@carseatcubs we somehow lost the rear facing foot for our seat. Can it be used without and just use a pool noodle or do you know where we can buy a replacement? Thanks.
Dude. Thank you.
Dude, my pleasure!
Best video explanation I’ve found.
Thank you for this awesome video! Could you please let me know why we should not yank the back of the seat or where the leg rest is? We found if we yank the top of the seat it moves SOOO much and wouldn’t that be so dangerous for the child?
A car seat needs to not move at the point that it is secured to the vehicle, just like how a tree doesn't move at its roots but it's normal for the top of the tree to move.
amazing explanation! Thank you so so much!
I don’t have a Velcro strap???
If sold in Canada, the Sonus will and must have the velcro strap.
Literal life saver. Thank you mama!
Thank you so much!
Love love your video! Thank you!
This was so helpful thank you!! Just got this seat
Go for it...
I love this!
Merci. La seule vidéo qui m'ait vraiment aidée.
We're expecting in March and just starting putting our car seat bases in for multiple cars and just realized we 2 different compatible evenflo bases and one has a seatbelt lock latch and one doesn't that come with the carseat when we came with it. This video really helped with our little problem with the differences of the two and how to tighten the belts a little better. Thank you for your help!
Thank you!
This makes zero sense to me
It's like when you lay your head on a plush pillow or stuffed animal, this fluff flattens and make the harness loose. #keepeachothersafe
Video très utile merci
thank you bc our car seat WILL NOT tighten, the instructional video on Evenflo’s own youtube channel said nothing about tightening it from the inside. it makes sense that this would work better, thank you
the Sonos I bought does not have the leveling indicator.
it might only be on one side and etched into the plastic on the side (in the video she has green painters tape so that it’s easier to see on camera but on the actual seat it should be there. It’s hard to see.
Great how to video, it was so easy after watching you do it.. thank you very much
Awesome explanation. Incredibly helpful. Thank you so much
What did you attach the anchor straps too?
to the lower anchors
Any car made after 2002 should have little circle buttons that show where the anchors are. They have a little car seat etched into it. They are located where your lower back would be if you sat on the seat.
Despite me being on my fifth kid in an infant seat, this is the first time I've heard this tip - I've always struggled to tighten these by pulling straight up. Amazing. Thank you so much.
