Bucharest (1961)

Bucharest, Rumania.
Several shots of the market place in Bucharest; people buying flowers, vegetables and fruit. Various shots of women tending to public gardens. Various shots of a church of the Rumanian Orthodox faith. An old building is seen next to modern apartment blocks.
Several shots of the open-air swimming pool of the Lido Hotel in the city; young people play with a beach ball (the girls have hairy armpits). M/S of a statue of Stalin; L/Ss of the Printing Hall, home of five newspapers; M/S of a statue of Lenin before the Printing Hall.
Note: negs used for telecine transfer are cut in several places in this story; track overlaps with the previous story and commentary runs over end title. Combined print is currently missing. Cuts exist - see separate record.

0:45 Aia nu e biserica ortodoxa e casa lui Mina Minovici de langa Gara Regala (Baneasa). 0:45 That's not an orthodox church that is Mina Minovici's (Founder of Romania's forensics) house next to the Royal Railway station.

Haha, very nice . Well it doesn't look like this now , but ironically all those landmarks captured in this clip still have the same appearance today. Bucharest is basically time traveling into all important styles of architecture from 1900's till the present day.
