This song is the definition of heartbreakingly beautiful. Such sad and painful lyrics that often have Jin, Jimin, V, and JK crying at some point during the performance . The performance is so powerful and everyone there can feel the emotions behind this song.

Jared & Jordan, I will tell you something. It is good to be able to read and hear the words to a song. When you hear and see BTS doing certain live performances, it takes you to another level. This is one of those songs.

i had a funny moment with this song that i simply cannot be sad😭. back in 2021 for PTD concert 2 days before they started i was completely DEVASTATED that i wasn’t able to go, like imagine someone as if they had a gray cloud following them looking down all day, that was me. It was on a Friday and so i just planned to take a shower and just cry to let it all out😭 i went to go shower and i was playing all BTS sad songs, The Truth Untold happened to come on, it was in that moment where it kinda just hit that i wasn’t going to be at the concert i just started sobbing like u see in those movie scenes specifically in the shower. Mind you this was while the song was playing, i was sobbing, but at the same time COMPLETELY singing my heart out to it because it was also the first time where it just HIT like the song just made sense in the hurt department, but then meanwhile this was all happening my sister walked in on me😭 and i just kinda stopped midway cuz i felt embarrassed but i couldn’t rlly hide my lil sniffles so i was turned around in the corner of the shower sniffling, i decided i was too sad to care and i continued singing, but once she left i thought it was tooo comical i started laughing. 💀sometimes every time it plays i just look back at that moment and laugh because right after the next day [i had kept checking on TicketMaster constantly if there were any tickets available for cheaper] I checked for tickets and i was able to find 2 for $50 each. I got them. I have never experienced that high level of happiness, like i cannot describe it but i was running ALL over my house i cried tears of joy and hugged my dog, called my mom, ran up and down the stairs, and even volunteered to clean around. It’s such a fun memory for me both days.

This song... mmm... this song is one that got me through a very rough time in my marriage. It was also the very first BTS song I ever heard. BTS helped me save my marriage by pulling me out of the dark corners of my mind that I was hiding in. This song will always have a special place in my heart. BTS and ARMY are now one of the main sources that help keep me grounded and safe from myself. But they also set me free and helped me open my mind, and my eyes, a little wider. BTS and ARMY are love. 💜

This is one of the songs that helped be become ARMY. I thought that if someone could write lyrics like that they must have such a beautiful heart. And if the vocal line could find it in themselves to embody the pain of that story while singing... then I definitely wanted to know more about them.

For anyone who doesn't know.... 💜The Truth Untold - this is how they conceptualised the song: They created a very old and sad story called, 'La Città di Smeraldo' that takes place in a small town in Italy ( in the 16th Century -1500's). The story's about an 'ugly' man who hid in an old castle alone, even though he was a gentle good person, because of his looks he received lots of hate & cruelty while growing up. He never opened his heart to anyone. Eventually if anyone tried to approach him, he covered his deformed face with a mask and hid in fear, ...So he became bitter and angry. His one happiness in life was to plant beautiful flowers in his walled off garden. One night a woman appeared near the man's castle. She jumped over the garden fence and stole a flower. This angered the man at first. So he watched his garden all night. But when he fell asleep, the woman took another flower. This continued for several nights. The man pretended to be asleep and watched the woman steal a flower. He started becoming curious about the woman. He began waiting for her. Without realizing he started waiting for her to come and each day began to seem a little brighter. Following after her one day he realized that she was selling the flowers that she stole from him to try to make a living. The man falling in love so desperately wanted to help the woman. But he was afraid she would be terrified by the way he looks if he approached her. He 'knew' she would never be able love his 'grotesque' appearance. He came to a conclusion that the only way he would be able to help her is to keep himself hidden and let her continue stealing flowers from his garden. The man decided to make a flower that doesn't exist on the planet. So that the woman could sell them at a expensive price. He began to create the flower in his castle. After many unsuccessful attempts, the man created the most beautiful of all flowers (The Smeraldo Flower) and filled his garden with these beautiful flowers. But the woman stopped coming. No matter how long he waited she never came back to his garden. He eventually found out that the woman had starved to death before he could give her the flower that would have saved her. If only he had been brave enough to approach her😭 The smeraldo flower plays a part in the Bangtan Universe storyline, and you will see it in various MVs. The Smeraldo flower symbolizes the sincerity that could not be delivered. The moral of the story, as interpreted by BTS, is that people are entrapped in the depths of misery and darkness due to a lack of self-love and confidence. The protagonist would have probably felt much better, had he talked to her and confronted his fears and insecurities. In addition, another aspect is the way people are affected by childhood trauma and dysfunctional families. The man was highly affected by his childhood trauma caused by nasty comments made by people. The truth untold and Epiphany are songs that touch the soul.

As beautiful as it is to (just) listen, I think in this song’s case knowing the lyrics at the same time is special, (when hearing for the first time). Looks like Jordan realized that as he read some of the lyrics. 😊💜
