@@loredell Yes it's tiring. I think a lot of people conflate the messages depicted in the MV with the song itself. The song tells a universal story of longing and nostalgia, sorrow, and hope. The music video tells a specific story that definitely brings to mind the Sewol Ferry tragedy. Two different things. Both true. And they probably don't know that in 2016 BTS did write a song that blatantly criticized what happened on Sewol Ferry, and it was pretty controversial: "Am I Wrong". Even the choreography was a play-act calling out the government. There is no guessing with "Am I Wrong."

All members of BTS have experience in writing lyrics, composing and producing. Most songs are written by their rappers - RM, SUGA, J-Hope. This song in particular is written by RM and SUGA with their in-house songwriters. RM is credited as songwriter in 174 songs, SUGA in 124, J-Hope in 112. They produce songs as well, SUGA has produced the most, he is an established producer, who is working with other artists and winning awards. Vocalists (Jin, Jimin, V, Jungkook) are participating in creating music too

bts write and produce most of their own music, it's kind of what their ceo put the group together for, he wanted members who could tell their own stories themselves also this song has been charting in south korea since it came out in early 2017. the leader (blue suit) wrote it, their rap line does a lot of the writing (esp for their own verses). vocal line are 'newer' to writing but they're well on their way to being accomplished songwriters now as well. their last album BE which they released in november was a pandemic project where they all participated in the writing, production, concepts, and made it a true group project with minimal outside help. they usually don't have the time to do so much themselves so they rely on their team but the pandemic gave them a unique opportunity. they're all very hands on in their own way, especially when time allows.

just a side note Hobi (the one in the end) wasn't singing with a backtrack it was jungkook singing with him they do this a lot BTS as a whole harmonize with each other a lot in their live stages but unfortunately the camera didn't capture jungkook doing it with him but when hobi finishes and the screen becomes wider you can see jungkook (purple mic) putting down the mic as well. and for the writing BTS are involved in all of their songs whether it was writing or producing them and for spring day specifically joon (blue hair) made a live stream where he talked about the making of the 'you never walk alone' album which has spring day as the title track and he said that he wrote the melody for it and wrote half of the song, yoongi (second guy from the left) wrote his rap part and i believe the rest were written by bang shi hyuk who is the CEO of their company but before he's a CEO he started as a songwriter and he still is. some of BTS members (mainly joon and yoongi) write and produce for other artists as well.

Hobi (far left orange suit) is first and foremost a rapper and dancer for the band, so him singing like this is such a treat. He acts as a "sub-vocalist" for the band so you only really hear his voice in the background or on a harmony, so getting to hear him sing front and center when they do this song live is such a treat.

We call Spring Day our "Queen" :). It was written by RM (second from right) and Suga (second from left) about missing friends from childhood, either due to just growing up and apart or by death. There was a national tragedy in 2014 where over 300 people drowned, mostly school-aged kids, and this song (2017) struck a cord with the Korean public. BTS embraced this correlation and the official MV for Spring Day is a tribute to those lost. The song charted right away and has NEVER LEFT the charts to this day.

This song was mainly written by RM, the guy with blue hair, as well as Suga, the guy with black hair and orange sunglasses. There are many interpretations for the lyrics, but the most prominent one for me is the feeling of loss of a friend (either due to distance or death). This song's music video is also based on a national tragedy that involved the deaths of hundreds of children (the Sewol Ferry Tragedy) so another way you could interpret the lyrics is to cope with loss and that even in Winter, the Spring day will always come around. It's a sad song to say the least lol. I started crying when I first heard the bridge and Tae's line "you know it all, you're my best friend."

I'm so glad to hear what you've said about boybands in the past because I think there's a lot of preconceptions about boyband music and creative control. BTS doesn't have a discography of cute lovey-dovey love songs that their label wants them to put out. Their musical roots are in hip hop and rap and the group are composed of producers and songwriters. Even though BTS is from Korea, I think a lot of people like me, had this stereotype of boybands based on our experiences here.

BTS have said several times that they have missed performing for ARMY terribly. These were very difficult times for them and they said that they cried a lot because they missed ARMY so bad. Exactly what does it gain any of you to deny that the song was inspired by a national tragedy that everyone should know about? RM's inspiration in that park wasn't just the leaves falling, it was what he was feeling, and it has been confirmed from their own mouths that it was about a particular tragic event. The time to be nitpicky has passed. Just let it go and let the message be spread. Your stubborn contradiction undermines the huge subversive effort BTS made during a time they could have been blacklisted.

The video is confirmed to be inspired by such events, and I don't doubt that the group approved that decision, as it's the final product that we all know. But there's a difference between speculation and fact. Also, just because the song itself isn't confirmed to be about that doesn't lessen the importance or impact of the tragedy, and it doesn't stop anyone from knowing about it.

RM and Suga are the primary lyricists for this song and they were inspired by their personal feelings of missing old friends; however, I believe they aimed to make the lyrics relatable for the emotional journey of loss in general regardless of the person or the reason. The music video that was made for the song contains many subtle references to a national tragedy in which hundreds of high school children died, and in that context is expressing the loss of a loved one due to death. Spring Day is considered the 'queen' of BTS's discography. Because it resonated so strongly with the Korean people after that national tragedy, it became extremely popular across all ages. It won Best Song the year it was released and has remained on the charts in Korea ever since.

Kia Ora. This is one of their most important works. When they are being critical of their government, institutions and matters of great importance, they'll often use metaphor and symbolism to get their message across. To criticize those in power has led to the demise of many artists and journalists. Although this song is about regret, sorrow and missing someone, it is linked to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy. The mishandling of the situation, the cover up and corruption. They are poets, storytellers and artisans. By the way, it gets easier and faster to read closed captions with practice.

By the way, when you said about mainly hearing the backing track on the guy on the right (with red mic? - JHope), what you might be hearing was Jungkook doubling up an octave higher - they just didn't show him.

What I usually do as to not feel overwhelmed I listen to their songs 3 times. The first time, I just close my eyes and listen or watch (with mv) and vibe. The second time, I go into the lyrics specially the parts that needs translation. And the 3rd time, I combine 1 and 2. 😀

Spring day is a tribute to the Sewol Tragedy in South Korea that is why this song is so sad. For more information to Psring day you could watch the explanation video for spring day. The Sewol Tragedy is a tradegy that happened April 2014 and 299 people had died and majority of them are teenagers. The South Korea Government back then tried to cover the accident and all the idols that speaks about the accident gets blacklisted.
