Hi, I read that RM said the different words on the hook were based on their different reactions when they had experienced heartbreak - he says tear, because it made him cry, Yoongi's is tear because it was his heart that was torn (if you haven't already, look at the lyrics for his 2nd verse at what he tells the person to do with his heart, it really is heart-wrenching & made me cry the first time I read it) and Hobi is fear, because it made him afraid both to talk about it, and to love again. This is why they put their whole hearts into the live performance, they're remembering the real emotions they had, and for us knowing that these dear boys had to go through that makes us emotional as well. This is my favourite BTS song & what made Hobi my bias, I still get goosebumps every time.

Love how JHope looked. And yes the emotion is so strong at the end with JHope. But I seriously think Suga was more emotional the way he sang and swinging around. But they all killed it for real.

I was also there on the first day and that performance was pure EPIC! Just unforgettable.

Guys, I was at the concert in Paris and let me tell you, the live perf of this song brought the WHOLE STADIUM DOWN. It was so hype and people jumping so much the ground was shaking ! And gotta say, IT WAS JHOPE'S MOMENT. ♥️ #unforgettable

I love this song. 💜. J-Hope at the end dropped a piece of his soul on that stage. One of my favorite performances to this day.

As a jhope biased I always get excited when people react to tear bc he kills sht. This stage is a completely overwhelming and beautiful masterpiece. Side note: I always have 10K things to say about J-hope's stage presence, but raplines as a whole stage presence in this just blows me away (especially our leader RM).

Omgggg! U just read in my mind!! I’m a old school rapper fan!!! I told my kids that RM is PAC cuz he’s lyrics is so deep and smart, his voice is deep just like my late Tupac! Yoongi has Eminem flow , swag, and spelling and I do agree with you for presence and lyrics, he also have that ironic attitude just like M&M, hobi is actually not J-Hope but J-flow! He’s unique! Before BTS he didn’t know to rap! He learned it from Supreme Boi, he’s very good to put his emotion! We could feel when his happy or sad! UPDATE: BTS confirmed that the rapline wrote this song for the members when they were seriously contemplating disbanding in early 2018. When the played this song to the rest of the boys - they whole band cried together. And this part : ''this is true you and this the real me'' suppose it refers to the new meaning of RM.

This performance of Tear. Jhope's part always wreck me again and again.

The lyrics to Tear are deep. Especially the use of tear in various meanings throughout the verses. This has to be one of the most dynamic performances from rap line. And Hobi at the end is, no words, looked like he was about to catch on fire! I was fortunate to hear Tear live twice and the stadium was on fire! **Please feed my man Blaze!!! I don’t if he’s ready though, but feed him! LOL***

One of the best rap songs I have ever listened to 💜💜. Jhope freaking poured his heart out on that stage, I felt it 😂😂.

YES! The aggression RM serves is very much like Eminem! As someone who grew up with Eminem being my favorite rapper, that raw emotion and stuff is definitely a quality that both Eminem and RM have in common. You can feel that aggression in your veins man!!! SO GOOD

Yet another stage that J-hope commands easily, I just don’t know what the golden hyung can’t do. I can very honestly say stage presence has a lot of J-hope, not the other way around. Despite having the least verses he took over the entire outro:Tear in every performance and in each one he changes things up. That Hobi together with his actions are so impactful, plus the lighting, the mood, how yoongi and namjoon nailing their parts fantastically all came together. Just perfecto👌🏼. I’ve seen outro tear performances more than 50 times and I never ever get tired of it, this kinda shows that this really is a masterpiece considering I’m the kind who gets bored easily. I love Blaze's reaction. I feel you. Tear is a masterpiece! They held out on you bro. Actually that full album is a masterpiece. If you havent Hit everytrack if it yet you're missing out. That album is put together so well. And yes, this is my favorite song. The lyrics and the passion of the performance is almost too much. I was blessed to see this song twice performed live. It was beyond fire. ARMY was losing it! Also, the outfits are custom by Christian Dior for BTS. They wore them onstage for Mic Drop and this song. Hoseok's fit is legendary.
