Im not mad that they started making music in english per se. I was more upset by the fact that they went back on their previous stance (which was literally laughing at the idea of releasing an album in english) to releasing the butter album with no explanation as to why they switched that opinion. it confused me. also the lyrics in dynamite are kinda just nonsense, in the way that some of them are just words that mean nothing together but happen to rhyme. i enjoy the song, but the lyrics make me know that it isnt serious and messes with the experience. just a small personal thing. other than that i really do love them and listen to them with the rest of bts music. even though i burst out laughing after jungkook's first verse of dynamite. i absolutely adore butter though and i cant explain why. love your vids❤❤

Sorry, ik this was made like 3 months ago but I just had a question. I've been drifting from BTS and K-pop these days because of school, finding more interests and etc. I really love their music. They got me through some hard times and have made me see some things about myself a bit clearer. But as I said I think beginning, I've been drifting away from them. I don't want to lose that feeling I used to feel when I heard their name, listened to their music, saw them have a good time and etc. I still really like their music but I don't want to feel so far away from them anymore. Idk what to do. They mean so much to me and I don't want to lose them. What should I do?

You are finding ur interests and it's a good thing that's what BTS wants to convey through their music find ur true self and love it. And this feeling might also come due to this looooong hiatus since it's been almost 2 years they released BE. But hey they are coming back even stronger! Honestly after watching your video, I feel like there are so many more parameters through which I can see the boys and actually feel and understand the meaning of their music. People need to understand it's very hard for foreign artists to break into the western market without english songs expecially as songs in korean arnt played out here before I started liking kpop the only song I heard in korean was gangnam style. Them making a few songs in English has helped them gain alot in terms of success my mum comes back from work now and says "I heard those bts songs playing on the radio multiple times today".

I don't know if they have the widest or not, BUT BTS does have a wider range of music type than other typical korean boygroups. And that is something to respect. Their dynamic of music is unexceptionally brilliant. Their teamwork and hardwork are amazing. They have the strongest faith from Bang Si Hyuk and all and of course Army. They bring love and they show it.

thank you so much for making this video. i don't like dynamite very much, but it's not because of it being english, like you said - my irritation with dynamite comes from the fact that they have been making phenomenal music for YEARS, but it isn't until they drop an english song as a sort of "why not" that they actually get the recognition they deserve (at least in america). the music industry is what i have a problem with. i do hope they'll be able to go back to making amazing albums like wings and LY and retain the success they've had over the past year or two, but i plan to support them either way. to my baby armys, if you like dynamite/butter/ptd, please please PLEASE have a listen to their older albums and watch the music videos. i promise you won't be disappointed

What do you mean no recognition in America? They've been selling out stadiums, on the covers of magazines and been regular guests on major news, late night and award shows performing DNA, Idol, Black Swan, Mic Drop, Boy with Luv, long before they ever released an English song. The only "recognition" they haven't received is a Grammy and Grammys aren't based on the charts or sales. Very few are nominated and even fewer win. Justin Bieber has been nominated 22 times and only won twice. Their English songs were a hit because that's the language that we speak. I listen to all of their music, but most people are not going to take the time to look up lyrics to songs when there's so much other music out there that's in their own language. Nothing nefarious about that. It has nothing to do with BTS being foreign artists. There have been others who've won, but they're English speakers. Again that's the language that we speak. And before we continue pointing the finger at how America treats foreign artists, explain why Beyonce, Adele and Taylor Swift have never been nominated for a Melon Award. Added together, they've received more than 3,000 nominations for other awards.

By watching your video I once again realised how versatile there music discography really is! Their English songs represent one side of BTS , there are multiple , if you look at their discography. You may not like some of their songs and yeah because music is subjective. They are artists and before that they are humans, they change and it is totally fine to change over time. It okay if you like a certain genre and want your favourite artist to do it but forcing someone to make music according to your taste is wrong.Know the line and try not to cross it . It was very beautiful video, really liked the way you introduced different eras of BTS .

(Edited) I watched the video and just wanna say this. (This is all in my opinion, it's totally ok if you have yours.) So, there have been many genres BTS have done. Not all have been successful, but when they did the "Dance pop" (aka the English songs), they got massive success. This got them nominated for a Grammy, twice. I know making songs isn't always about just winning awards, but right now, they are getting the attention of the American Media, to promote their upcoming album. It's a nice way to provide music for the fans (even though some may not like it, it's better than a year long hiatus) and get recognized. Now, let's come to the whole "making English music" part. In my opinion, I think that their songs are pretty nice. I wouldn't say that I "love" them, but their are a nice few. Many fans want BTS to make deep songs all the time, but wouldn't it be exhausting making them and coming up with all the ideas, all the time? These 3 songs(Dynamite, Butter, PTD), are a break for the "way better" songs that they are known for. If you have read the credits to the three songs, you will realize that they weren't written by the members, but by American songwriters. This is a break for them to refocus and come up with the music they are known for. Of course, the songs aren't as high level, but I don't think they are meant to be. Anyways, this is a bit too long than I was expecting. The video is beautiful edited, love it so much. Thank you.

While I loved this video one major correction as a person who went to 2 of the 4 LA concerts, the crowds knew the songs. Sometimes we did the fan chants sometimes we didn’t b/c they sliced up the beginning or you were singing every single word. It wouldn’t have been possible to fill 4 sold out nights of new army that don’t know the Korean songs. I can tell you for a fact there was more yelling for Save Me/ Im fine than there was for dynamite or even PTD.

I was at the 2nd show. I sang and danced the entire show…I was hoarse for 2 days from all the singing. I totally agree about Save Me/I’m Fine….and when they sang IDOL they brought down the house! The crowd was so loud…singing and screaming. Actually when they sang Dynamite, I felt like the crowd didn’t know all the lyrics…unlike the other songs for which ARMY sang completely. The SoFi stadium is HUGE! The seating capacity is 70,000 and can be increased to 100,000. They also filled a theater area behind the stage…the people watched the concert on a screen…live-streamed

During the ‘why in English’ part of the video, I agreed with what you voiced in your opinion 100%. It is their music and the fact that it’s in English does not change the fact that they’re Korean artists. They are giving the world the same message they always have, a message of hope. And English is the MOST spoken language in the world. They made songs in English to reach EVERYONE Bc it’s the most spoken language and most people, around the world, know and can speak the English language. I would 100% jam to their English songs but I wouldn’t listen to PTD like it was my religion. Dynamite and Butter, yes. But PTD, no. I respect what they are doing with their music and everything they have accomplished with their music very very much! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I missed your videos. Thanks a lot for this! I can't tell enough how much I love your videos. They're not the usual funny videos, instead very deep, can make you realise many things and change your thoughts. The main reason I subscribed to you. You make such unique quality content. The way you educate me and other armys about topics, thank you really. Plus your videos are aesthetic as hell. I really love to listen to your sensible opinion. Thank you for one on this topic since we all know some folks are always so pressed about bts having songs in English. They say as if their whole discography is in English istg it's just 3 freaking songs. Why don't they just listen to the old ones if they don't like English songs? BTS are not the type of artists to stick to one thing. As they said, they make songs related to the current situation. Do you want them to make a depressing and sad song in such an already depressing time? U wouldnt like it right? You would want smthn to cheer you up. They did just that. They made songs to connect even more on an international level. I just hope ppl understand that. The English songs are just like an introduction to ppl. By listening to them, ppl start to discover more into their insane discography. And that is how you fall. Fall for their music. You fall when you realise they have even better songs than that you've first listened to. And another thing too, I think they also want to get a Grammy. It's not a bad thing. Them not getting the grammys is frustrating. Even tho ppl say BTS doesn't need grammy (which they really don't) if the boys want it, then let them. Let them make the music they want. They know what they're doing. So let's just support them and wait for the upcoming album. Edit : halfway through the vid, amazed at the way both YOU and BTS explain their albums. Like omg I get goosebumps even thinking about how deep their music can be, once you actually start thinking abt it. Edit 2 : as the video is telling abt dynamite, let me tell my experience too. I joined the fandom in April 2020. U could say dynamite was my first comeback. I could not describe how happy I was when dynamite was released. I watched the mv 6 times a day, lol. Seeing its performances, mv, the song itself, really cheered me up, other people too, I guess. While I do agree it's not the best BTS song, it really deserves so much, for the happiness it brought to so many people. It really lighted my life up like a dynamite. The song still holds a very close place to my heart and seeing its mv gives me so much nostalgia 🥺

Oh I love defending their English songs. Here's why I think the criticism to their English songs (for being in English of course) is inavlid: - "It's too commercial, they lack depth." they gave us mots7 and BE, their most personal and emotion heavy albums in a while, during 2020. We were also going through a pandemic and they were going through a rough time. I don't blame them for wanting energetic, fun tracks with fun lyrics. The timing was just right for those songs and I don't blame them for seizing the commercial impact of the timing and language as well. It's a smart business move on top of being a genuine attempt at giving energy, you can't blame them for that. Besides, the music is an industry, what other idols do is also commercial even if it's Korean. Besides half the impulse that these songs had in the market as opposed to LGO was because of the distribution label giving it more radio support and promo. ARMY and the boys have done what they always have. - "They lost their artistry". With a discography like BTS's and the fact that they even have writing credits in Butter, I would disagree. They also had their input in the choreos (PTD), creative process etc, even if they don't have credit. You really can't dismiss their artistry based on three english songs vs 8 Korean albums. Also, during 2020 they literally gave us new music each month, displaying their artistry. Their artistry is not at stake here lol. - "They are losing their korean identity" 😦 and who are you to tell them that?? this is such a baseless accusation lol. 3 English songs vs over 200 Korean ones. Okay.

Thank you once again for such a thoughtful and deep look into these men and the music they make. I'm no music expert either, and I really appreciate how you speak from your heart about it. Personally, I found BTS through watching K-drama on Netflix, and the Korean language has enthralled me ever since. The cadence, beauty, and new sounds of the language just had me at hello. I will ALWAYS want to hear BTS speak and write lyrics in their language. There is something powerful about how authentically feelings, ideas, and thoughts are expressed when you use the language of your culture. The fact that they use English words, and even complete lyrics, is an expression of a desire to reach out MORE, touch many more people. NOT a "sell out". It results in huge success, true, but there's more going on here, and I think we all get that. Props to Suga for choosing to speak Korean when in the US, and let it be translated. As it should be. I figure it's my job to learn Korean if I really want to know what they're saying. I have one word for ya: subtitles.

I'm not that much into K-pop and it has kind of superficial reputation in my circle, but their music just seemed so much more to me, so diverse, never got bored of it and ofc, after I took the time to actually read the lyirics I was soooo impressed with how deep and meaningful and sometimes straight-up philosophical it is!

If there is an army that hate BTS making and singing English song again and again then you are indirectly ask them "why Korean speak English?". It's fine to do not like the song because maybe it doesn't suit your taste of music, but if you hate the boys because they're making and singing in English again and again, then there must be something wrong with the way you think. Just like Namjoon said "this is the best direction that they are currently are going on" and for me it's also one of the GREATEST era of BTS 💜

Your analysis in this video is excellent. It shows how the genre became BTS. I watched this because your name was on it and I like your work. But the title of it is a little misleading... 'People' can't be too "mad about it"... BTS just walked away with 9 awards at the MAMA2021award show and they weren't even there to perform. They won 4 Daesangs and awards for 2 songs completely in English.. some awards were voted, other criteria were sales.... so to say people are mad about it seems a bit over the top. Some people who have never been part of ARMY, who are antis for whatever reason or are upset that their favorite group/artist didn't win are very loud and make it seem like they are more numerous than they really are. This is just my opinion but , after 4 Japanese language albums, I'm delighted. And I really don't think too many people are mad about it. 💜🙆‍♀️💜usa

A very well put out video. I love your editing style especially the intros. I replayed it 3 times. Just one suggestion- for the text that you write, maybe use a different colour? It was hard to read at some places because the background clashed with the font. Rest of the video was amazing. You're doing a good job!!

GODDD THANKS FOR THISSSSS!!!!!! I agree so muchh. For me also their English songs have their touch hahaha Idk how to explain it but I've heard ppl saying that they lost their scent and I don't agree for example permission to dance is a song full of hope, dynamite and butter are songs that lift my mood idk why but they do, actually that was what made me an ARMY... When I heard dynamite I was amazed about the fact that I was genuinely happy when I heard this song. And about the concert well don't take my words as truth bc I wasn't in the concert, but I have friends that attended and they tell me that they were singing the fan chants, screaming and singing. I've heard that the acoustics of the stadium didn't allow to hear that much noise (I don't know if that is correct or not) Last but not least I would like to say that as an army that joined because of dynamite...I know old armies think that we just know dynamite and that's it but that is not the case, we also know about no more dream, the BU, wings era, dark and wild, O!RUL8,2, their hardships, etc. because I knew them with dynamite but I stay bc of their incredible artistry. Just to clarify I say this not because something personal with Yoongisadboy or anybody, but I want to use this opportunity to express how many babby armies like me feel :). I hope you guys are doing well

This video is so good, you did a great job at editing it!!! And I appreciate the message because my friend feels a similar way, that bts are getting more "commercial" and therefore shallow bc of their recent english songs. But you're right, it's still them as artists and their songs, just a different direction than previous years, which is okay. Just go listen to the large amount of older music they have, it'll always be there as a part of them. I've watched their growth through the years and will continue to support them no matter what they decide to do next

I wanted to clarify on the PTD: LA concerts. I respect that you stated you weren't there to experience the concert but I would like for to you understand that it was the very first concert BTS had put on since COVID, everyone was nervous (even I was and I'm a "veteran" army). Don't believe what tiktok or youtube videos have to say about the concerts, nobody knew how bad the acoustics were since SOFI wasn't built for good sound quality (its literally a football stadium not a proper music venue; trust me on when I say that there is engineering behind constructing music venues so that sound is properly distributed) and its safe to say that everyone was awestruck to finally get to see them in person. Therefore, I find it hurtful to insinuate that Army's at PTD LA weren't "true" fans for not being loud enough or yelling the fanchants. Even if those who were in attendance didn't know the fanchants, that doesn't make them any less of an Army or fan. BTS are so open to anyone and everyone enjoying their music and that's how majority of army became army.

I don't understand why so many are bothered by THREE English songs. Even if they do put out an English album or English versions of their music, why is that a problem? They release albums in Japanese. How is that any different other than race or nationality? BTS doesn’t discriminate. Army is not supposed to be exclusive. I’m sure that Korean Army has a special place in their hearts. They were there when it started. But, BTS loves international Army too. People who complain that they were ignored in the west until they released songs in English are ignoring the fact that their albums have been debuting at #1 on Billboard 200 since 2018 and that they've had three singles in Korean reach #1 on Billboard 100. I saw them perform DNA, Mic Drop, Black Swan, ON, Idol and Boy with Luv on popular news, late night and award shows in the US. They performed at Wembley and sold out stadiums in the US. These things were happening long before Dynamite was probably even written. Don’t judge based on the Grammys either. They have a bias against “boy bands”. N’Sync and Backstreet boys were two of the most famous groups in the US. White, American, English speaking. They received eight nominations each and not one win.

I think bc of the difficulty of breaking through in the US or Europe if not singing in English... maybe it was obvious, eventually? Me too, I got to know them bc of the English songs... but now I ve been tru their albums and I like the rest even more!!! I hope I get to see them in Europe once, and otherwise I ll travel to South Korea for a month or so 🙂💜

But that is what music is about if you can sing all languages that's awesome BTS doesn't owe nobody nothing if you people don't like that they sing English then don't listen to it but the whole world listens to them this is how they got famous they share the Magic in their singing to the entire world and they became famous and we love them so they don't just belong to one culture they belong to all of us like it or not that's the way it is

I personally am not a fan of dynamite not because it in English or anything just cause it's not my type But it's not like I hated the the fact that they made English music in fact I liked it I can now sing along to them Also people need to understand that just like in any other industry racial discrimination xenophobia exist in music also even when they had masterpieces like black swan spring day on etc they were never able to get a Grammy nominations and if they don't adapt to these kind of things they will never be able to do more and achieve their goals. Dynamite also drew a lot of new fans into the fandom even people who didn't like BTS before now like them cause of dynamite. BTS not only has Korean fans they have a lot of internation fans some fans like me would love to aing along with their favourite artist and dynamite butter PTD my universe are needed for ARMYs like me . Besides nobody has any problem when a Latin, mexican, french artist start making music in English then why be like BTS should only do music in Korean it doesn't make sense. No matter what language they sing in they are still Korean Also thank you for making this video it's really needed
