Tattoos are still considered somewhat taboo in Korea and are extremely regulated....Tattoos may not be visible on Korean public television, so every time BTS is interviewed or perform on a tv show, JKs right arm and hand has to be covered by sleeves and bandages and Band-Aids....JK did not write this song, though. He's told us in Weverse lives that Bang Si-Hyuk played this song demo for him that was written by Andrew Watt & Cirkut, and JK said he immediately loved it

Jk was just a young boy of 13 when he became a trainee , he was 15 or 16 when they debut and he looked young so as older fans , we saw him as the young boy , now he is a grown man and the explicit version basically is his way of cutting himself from being the teenager and showing us that he is a grown man now ..

Korean context about tattoos..for a long time tattoos have been assoc with crime so broadcasting standards in Korea meant idols actors have to cover them with various methods. This is slowly changing so now you can see some tattoos been shown on KoreanTV shows. Our laws about who can tattoo are very strict (must have a medical license) but this is hardly ever enforced and you can easily find some amazing tattooists here in Korea, incl JKs tattooist

As someone who has a few tattoos myself I appreciate the self expression and art of beautifully created and masterfully done tattoo's such as Jungkook's Sleeve it looked awesome!! Thank you for letting me know more about the history. Here tattoos were associated with criminals, sailors, military, bikers and "Good ole Boys" for the longest time when I was a kid. Over the past two decades it has broadened quite extensively. Let us hope it continues to grow, because, some of the artwork and skill out there, is masterful and has an amazing future in our societies!

@@MixItUpPodcast I am tattooed myself (2 half sleeves) by Korean artists but have recently returned from New Zealand after having a Filipino artist complete my last one. I am unusual part of Korean society because I'm older and it's my age group or older which hold on to the stereotype of tattoos. So to respect old beliefs I do attempt to cover them on public transport, street food vendors and market place vendors. I've never been approached by ajummas/ajusshis (older women/men) or 할머니 할아버지 (grandmas/grandpas) in a negative way. I think they might if I was a teenager or in my 20s. Foreigners showing tattoos is ok, you might get stared at, sometimes just curiosity tbh. Some spaces it's respectful to cover them..such as historical sites you might visit.

Man it's nice that JK is able to show off his tattoos now. In the beginning all we saw were bits of it in the reflection of a microwave. It was hidden away. It's also kind of risky doing it all the way down to his fingers since some Korean broadcasting stations don't allow any visible tattoos if you appear on their shows. I know one of them had JK cover them up on his hands to perform. Hopefully one day it will be fully accepted over there. It's getting there though.

Hope your eye is better! Sounded like a cornea abrasion. Scratched cornea. Very painful and watery! If still not better, see a doctor .... might need prescription eye lubricant drops. Jk has to hide his tattoos when he performs for shows in Korea. It is frowned upon in Korean culture. (mostly from the older generation) Also, still controversial to have tattoos done by anyone other then medical degree'd Doctor. Tattoo artists are not allowed. It is said you can have tattoos after the military.
