BTS - Fake Love | Reaction (First Time Listening to K-Pop)

Музыка

Recorded this days ago, and wasn't sure if I was going to post it, but I'm running behind on my schedule after deciding to take a day off. This is my very first time listening to BTS, or any K-Pop. This is one heckuva visually striking song.

You are about to embark down the rabbit hole that is BTS - buickle up and hold on - it will be the best yet craziest ride ever - NOONE regrets meeting BTS!! For incredible vocals my best recommendation is anything with TaeHyung (V) - his deep voice is full of Jazz and Soul vibes (He's my Bias) - the best example being his Neo-Soul solo "Singularity" kzread.info/dash/bejne/omyi0qaAYtjSe7Q.html (CC button for english subs!!) They are not just a boy band or KPop - they have social consciousness, are charitable, they do a variety show weekly, they have documentary travelogues, they have series and movies of behind the scenes on their concerts - they live stream with us and communicate thru the app weverse with their fans - they have their own channel on youtube "BangtanTV" with over 1400 videos over the last 8 years - lots of MV Making videos, dance practices, interviews, backstage, etc, etc. Their Love for ARMY is legendary. BTW - I am an ex-fan of heavy metal, hard rap, jazz, indie (my last concert was Iron Maiden!!) - I used to love everything not "boyband" - yet here I am at 49 years of age obsessed with BTS since 2016 - For their lyrics, their music, their performance, their attitudes I support and love them - and the fact that they are really good people trying to make a difference in a hate filled world is the icing on the cake. There is only one BTS!! ENJOY!! PS> sorry this is long - but I thought you might be able to use some links...LOL -

“Fake Love” is in my top 5 from BTS. Beautiful poetic lyrics and amazing visuals. I love how it’s not necessarily about another person and their fake love, but directed inward and basically telling the story that if you’re not true to yourself or love yourself first, then love of any kind or for anyone will always be ‘fake’ (notice they look in the mirror often). It follows their “Love Yourself” album trilogy’s (3 albums, “Fake Love” is on the 2nd album when the idealized love falls apart and your faced to look inward and self-reflect and question your true self) theme of “Love Yourself” where in the last third album you realize you’re the one you should love and accept the most before you can truly love anyone else. BTS launched the Love Myself campaign with UNICEF to protect children against violence around the release of these albums where part of the proceeds of the 3 albums went to the cause and 100% of sales from their Love Myself merchandise went to the cause as well. I think you’ll enjoy “ON KINETIC MANIFESTO Film” and also the official MV for “ON” which is epic storytelling! 💜

You should read the translations from doolsetbangtan blog to understand some of the references before watching the MVs! There's also the BU alternate BTS universe storyline that's in addition to the song's story, in their early MVs (through Love Yourself albums). There's also behind the scenes videos of making the MVs :)

  • @miraaranel

This MV is really cool because this song is the title track of the second part of their "Love Yourself" series and they have a lot of scenes that mirror and directly juxtapose "DNA" which is the title track of the first part of the their "Love Yourself" series. DNA talks about fated love and the album is very positive and Fake Love talks about doomed love and the album is very dark. Also, the writing behind V (the one in the hallway with the cellphones) says "I'm Fine" but flipped upside down, it says "Save Me". Both "I'm Fine" and "Save me" are tracks on BTS albums and "I'm Fine" uses some parts of the beat from "Save Me" but played in reverse. Thank you for reacting to this!

There are many wonderful songs ranging across every genre made by BTS. You're watching a music video the falls within the Bangtan Universe (BU) hence the heavy cinematic storytelling elements and symbolism. There are groups of highly educated individuals who analyze and draw connections between their published content and although it's not something I focus on personally, it is amazing to follow. They are born performers. Other people give better intros to them than I so I really recommend you give some introduction videos a watch. This will help you understand their background, path and struggles to make it where they are now. There is enough content to make your head spin.

Hi, some things about this boys. *Bts Is south Korean group, this days people prefer don't mix them with the term "kpop". Kpop isn't a genre, Kpop is an industry in Korea that create music for kids/adolescents, and not all singers/rappers/musicians in Korea are "kpop" 1. They are 7, 4 vocalist, 3 rappers (2 underground rappers) all dancers 2. Bts compose and produce in all their albums, so is very personal, they sing about mental health, politics, society, their fans, self love, etc 3. They have a story behind their videos so is difficult to new people understand, we (the armys) used to read and search to understand the link in their videos. Their last album for example was "map of the soul: 7" and is inspired by the psychologist book the map of the soul by Carl Jung. 4. The army love them because they are good people who started from a company in bankruptcy, and even being famous they stay humble. 5. They have a lot of genres but their base is very hiphop / rap. Also you can find subtitles in every possible language thanks to the fans, u only need to search with the name of the song or Activate cc. **Bts always present themselves as a Korean group, and always said they don't want to be labeled in a genre or industry. The fans also do not want to be mixed with kpopers, (most of us aren't kpop fans) we don't have the same ideals. Not because we like a group from korea that means we like all from that country.

Loved the reaction!! Hope to see more :) Its super cool you picked up the hiphop vibes, because originally they were gonna be a hiphop group! The first 2 members of the group were underground rappers in koreas hiphop scene, but they debuted in 2013 as a k pop group (3 rappers, 4 vocalists) Also, they definetly werent exaggerating, BTS is grammy nominated and just won all 4 awards they were nominated for at the BBMAs. Most people dont even call BTS k pop nowadays, because theyre so beyond that original industry. Each member is super involved in writing and producing and composing songs, so they have a suuuuper wide range of genres within their music and often release solo songs or mixtapes for extra artistic freedom even while staying as a group. Theyre also all really close, and even tho their now millionaires and beyond successful (Theyre from a super small, almost bankrupt company so were real underdogs) they still live together and two members are even still roomates. Some song suggestions : Life goes on (MV), On Kinetic manifesto film, Baepsae (Live) and their newest song Butter! But at this rate youve probably heard butter in the radio and not even noticed lmao

Thank you so much for reacting to BTS! Sugar (one of the rappers, writers & producers in the group) has said several times if you listen with an open mind, you will like their music. If you like good storytelling with music these guys are up there & their music spans all genres. Welcome to the BTS Rabbit Hole. I do want you to know from the outset that BTS are very multi layered storytellers, they are like onions, you have peel away the layers. To the casual or new person watching this, the song is about exactly what it says "Fake Love" or bad relationships. The one at the beginning trying to protect the flower when the room is imploding, the flower is a relationship that blooms but then becomes destructive, thus it turning into sand. Some of their dance moves mimic the old adage...see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil & one member mimics controlling the others like marionettes..basically denial that the other person is controlling. One member laying on the candy bars...eating chocolate is known to release the same endorphins (in a smaller dose) of what we feel when we are happy in love, etc. There are more but I will spare you....You peel away that Top layer and all those things have an even deeper meaning in the music video. There are many music videos over a span of many albums where when you watch them in a certain order they are telling one big overarching story. This is known as the Bangtan Universe - The B.U. When you get ready to go further down the rabbit hole & have learned who is who in the group let us know. ARMY is here to guide you with helping hands & loving hearts. For now though we are excited to be with you on this new journey of just exploring the group and their music. Sorry for the long post! Have fun!

I love your reaction! If you want to get to know them, there are some introduction videos you can watch and react to as well like This Is BTS by xCeleste or BTS vs. Kpop: a video essay. Among others. As far as music videos go, I'd recommend Blood Sweat & Tears for sure. And Spring Day, but for that one I would definitely recommend watching an explanation video by bulletproof vibes, because that song is based on a tragedy in Korea that you might not know about.

Thanks for being so open-minded. Nice to see a fellow Nova Scotian get into them! I'm over 40 and adore them. I was lucky enough to see them with my daughter in 2018 and they are astonishing live performers. Their music is so rich - they tackled social issues like the harsh school system in Korea, unfair expectations on young people, self-esteem and mental health, the nature of art, Jungian psychology, etc. They have songs that are just fun too, but mainly super meaningful. They work in albums, not singles, and they seriously don't have any bad songs. They've become a huge comfort to so many people around the world. Have fun going down the rabbit hole!

Hi , thank you for listening to bts 💜 😉 Intro: BTS = Beyond the scene (in English) = Bangtan Seoyeondan (in Korean) aka Bulletproof Boy Scouts (translated) 7 members (3 rappers & 4 vocalists) RM , Jin , Suga , J-hope , Jimin , V , Jungkook purple is BTS and ARMY color 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 the fans : "ARMY" = Adorable representative m.c of youth = the fans 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 💜 They cover lots of different genres, so, hopefully, you find the ones that are according to your style.that’s why we say “ bts -genres” Here's something for the beginners😉💜: Turn on the CC (Eng sub). (Wordplays are amazing). Watch BTS or any mixtape produced by HYBE Label / Bangtantv (HYBE is the company name but it used to be Big Hit ). You can start from there. and for some songs you will not find the MV because it's a B-side of the album but you can watch the lyrics video Always watch from start to the very end of each video. No SKIPPING. Never ever assume video ends. (You might missed out on the crucial message) WE 💜love💜 it if you get to know them by watching: 1) Introduction to BTS👇 kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZZd5taOLldevabg.html 2) WHO IS BTS (the 7 members) Not updated but, still the best introduction and in fun way) 👇 kzread.info/dash/bejne/qqlkq8h7pr2zgtY.html NOTE: even if you react to an hour long video of BTS, ARMY will still stay throughout the whole thing. We live to see YOUR journey. 3) BTS From nobodies to legends 👇 kzread.info/dash/bejne/haZ9lqOvm6SonZc.html 4) BTS Hardships 👇 kzread.info/dash/bejne/d5iNmNmnfNbLpLQ.html 5) BTS contribution to music kzread.info/dash/bejne/pXaprbGSicTUgs4.html All music videos, have meanings/theories/explanations if you need to understand further. You can refer to: Dkdktv or Xceleste (they tend to make it simpler for you to understand) All mvs have behind the scenes if you want to know whether they use CGI or real props (mainly real). All songs have deep or even double meanings. That's the reason why ARMY's 💜LOVE💜 the lyrics of every song. BTS have a music storyline (BU content/fictional story) that might be too much to digest for someone who is new to BTS. Imagine how many of us are learning stuffs like psychology, going through books, making up theories here and there. They have lots of songs (abt 300). They have Korean albums and Japanese albums. There are mixtapes, cyphers, solos, covers, commercials, collaborations, amazing LIVE performances, OST, storyline, Webtoon, own variety shows like Bon Voyage, Run BTS (more than 100 episodes), Burn the stage, ... The members also have anime characters of themselves called the "Tiny Tan". Also another cute bunch of characters that they created called BT21. Advise: ARMYs tend to get excited once they find your channel and start requesting to react to the epic, LIVE performance or Award shows. Do note, try not to watch the LIVE performance (such as MAMA OR MMA the award shows) too soon. In my opinion, Live performances are best watched once you have seen the mv itself or at least know the songs before you see LIVE version . That way, your journey will be a lot more fulfilling/worthwhile. Again, that was just my opinion. Anyway, I understand if you react to other stuffs too. So, yes, take your time in knowing BTS. Do at your own pace. It is your channel. The info that we give is to show you HOW & WHY, we(ARMY) 💜love💜 BTS Good luck!💜💜💜💜💜💜💜sorry it's long 😋

You feel that you're watching a movie becahse this MV ties into their inner universe known as the Bangtan Universe. Each scene here represents what their characters faced in earlier MVs. Basically, Jin is trying to make their universe perfect. So he keeps time traveling. But it is never right.

Thank you for giving them a chance, this song was in their Love Yourself series, the 'fake love' here can be about relationship or even about deceiving yourself, so that's why part of lyrics said "i hope love was perfect as love itself, and i grow a flower that can't bloom in a dream that can't come true". RM once said you can't really love someone if you don't love yourself first, because if you pretend to be someone else in a relationship, you'll end up hurting each other. the artwork in the backgroun at the beginning was see no evil, hear no evil, say no evil, so in the chorus choreography you'll see them covering their eyes, ears and mouth. For your next song, can you please react to BTS Spring Day and the explanation video? It was soo good. Thank you :)

BTS was originally a Korean hip hop group. Since 2013 they have evolved into a unique genre of their own. These are all the BTS “official” music videos in reverse order of release. Does not include live or other versions. 2021-05-21 Butter 2021-04-01 Film Out 2020-11-19 Life Goes On 2020-09-01 Ioniq: I'm On It 2020-08-21 Dynamite 2020-06-26 Stay Gold 2020-03-05 Black Swan 2020-02-28 ON 2020-02-21 ON (Kinetic Manifesto Film: Come Prima) 2020-01-17 Black Swan 2019-10-18 Make It Right (feat Lauv) 2019-07-02 Lights 2019-04-12 Boy With Luv feat. The "Ioniq: I'm On It" is a promotional song for Hyundai. But you barely notice the car because the mv & song are so good; similar style as "Film Out" "Come Back Home" was released on July 4, 2017 as remake of Seo Taiji’s song "Come Back Home" for Seo Taiji 25th Anniversary Remake Project. “With Seoul” is a BTS song and film highlighting Seoul as a vacation spot. The original also shows them recording it. They have also done 3 other versions, including a “short” on 2020-09-11; a beautiful drone visual of Seoul (The Four Seasons of Seoul” on 2019-12-30, & an amazing drone visual mv on 2021-01-09. My personal favorite "other version" video is "DANGER (Mo-Blue-Mix) , featuring THANH". Thanh is an Australian-Vietnamese singer. This song has a R&B vibe with some great lyrics added by Thanh. There are loads of their other songs including some of my favorites: “Dionysus”, “Ma City”, “Truth Untold”, ”Outro: Tear”, “House of Cards”, “Lost”, “Dimple”, “Butterfly”, etc. and their solo, rapline, vocal line, short films, comeback trailers, etc. not included.

I love your reaction. Welcome in the beginning of your BTS journey ! I'm 57 years old, and I can say I never fall in love for a group as much as for BTS, even with my beloved Queen. They are mindblowing singers, rappers, dancers, and performers, they all participated in the song writing/producing process, most of their songs have beautiful lyrics with deep meanings , and as you can see, the music video are perfect ! Like a movie. I think you should enjoy : Blood, Sweat and Tears; Black Swan ; ON (the official MV, very symbolic, who feat the most with the meaning of the lyrics, and the Kinetic Manifesto Come prima, with choreo and marching band, witch is ... incredible !) ; More hip hop vibes : Not Today; NO (an old one, but so good ! ) ; maybe Film out : it's the theme song of a japanese movie , the MV is amazing !

Welcome to Kpop. You know, what westerners (myself included) call 'kpop' is called 'idol music' in Korea because it's a package of audio and visual components: music, dance, fashion & beauty. It's usually a mix of genres, as you noticed. And BTS crosses all genres. When RM, the leader of BTS, spoke on his vlive about the song, he said it started out very dark and grunge-like, but they had to accommodate the members' voices which are very high. So the end product sounds almost nothing like the original demo. BTS constantly surprise us. No 2 songs are alike.

Kpop in general is very visual and MV's, style/wardrobe and dance all play a big role. All kpop artists put a lot into their MV's but BTS does go further and encorporate a storyline through many of their MV's and songs too. Unlike many other kpop groups they write and produce many of their songs themselves with assistance from in house producers and writers. They actively promote socio-economic issues, literature, the arts, psychology and mental health/self love in their lyrics and content too. The hiphop vibe you felt stems from their early roots which were predominantly hiphop and rap based before they evolved to the fusion of genres that is BTS of today. Welcome to the rabbit hole Dan!

Enjoy the rabbit hole! Also if you are into drama/theater aspect of music videos (MV), check out their making MV videos as well; most of the things you think computer graphic, they do real in the sets. Absolutely awesome reaction!! I'm of course immediately going to go check to see if you've done another reaction to BTS as soon as I'm done with this comment lol. I'm subbing I'm so impressed ☺️! Others will of course not share my opinion, but there is no other K-Pop group the same quality as BTS. They were my first, and I've tried many others, but they just don't fulfill my expectations. Maybe BTS has just set the bar too high? Idk. But they've changed my life. I wasn't looking for them, but they came into my life when I needed them the most, and they've honestly helped me with the courage to get over some of the biggest hurdles of my life. It's of course the music, but the members themselves are what makes this group so special. Despite their success they remain humble and kind. They're huge philanthropists donating time and money to many worthy charities including a 1 million dollar donation to BLM, which we Army matched in less than 24 hours. They advocate for equal rights, campaign with UNICEF to help end violence against children worldwide, and they even spoke at the UN. I highly recommend you watch that video. I hope you come down the rabbit hole with us, and they will change your life as well. But I promise you won't regret it. I'll be here with you through your BTS journey and I wish you love and light. Borahae! 💜 Oh recommendations! I almost forgot lol. ON Kinetic Manifesto (my first ☺️), Black Swan, Save Me, Blood Sweat and Tears, DNA, Idol, and of course Butter! If you like rap I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Daechwita, it's solo work from Suga's alter ego Agust-D. He's basically the Korean Eminem. I listen to it every day in the shower before work to get pumped lol, it's absolute fire🔥! Anything live from them is amazing as well. The Melon and Mama awards shows are basically BTS concerts lol.

Welcome to BTS! I think the consensus among most ARMY (fan base) for live performances is the MMA 2019 Award Show. BTS was given the last 30 minutes of the show to bring their best and let me tell you, it is simply amazing. (Reactors LOVE it) It will give you a look into the different genres of music they make (I think there are 5 songs) and it is based on philosopher Carl Jung's 'Map of the Soul'. I have always been a fan of MJ productions, but BTS, I believe, is on his level, maybe even better. Please react to the whole thing at one time if you can to get the full effect. Another tip: There is a channel called DKDKTV that does explanation videos of BTS songs from a Korean's perspective. Most of us watch to understand what the English lyrics REALLY mean .... you'll be wowed by their genius songwriting because the lyrics just skim the surface and we enjoy seeing your reaction to the real interpretation of the songs!! Suggest, do a song followed by the explanation, if there is one. Looking forward to your journey, ARMY grandma, Subscribed.

Loved your reaction to Fake Love! Great commentary. Glad you caught the theatrical brilliance. This particular video actually has several explanation videos because it is connected to a very complex storyline called the Bangtan Universe (BU) that connects several of their albums’ concepts. BTS has some of the best lyrical wordplay and musical depth to their discography. 🔥 They are famous for leaving easter eggs in all their content. The hidden references and theorical connections they make are sometimes mindblowing. It’s why ARMYs call it the “BTS Rabbit Hole” and partly why we are so engaged with the guys. 😂 Hope you explore further. These 7 men are some of the most resilient, multifaceted, intelligent, yet humble artists I have ever known. They truly are something special. Some tips/suggestions for you: Please remember to use the *ENG CC* for official MVs; most of their MVs have it except for the older stuff. If it’s a live performance and it says “auto-translate”, DO NOT USE. It’ll be wrong. If you decide to use lyric videos for songs that dont have mv’s, then I highly suggest using either *Zaty Farhani* or *af taehyung* for more accurate translations. (Jaeguchi or Lemoring channels tend to be wrong in translations or line distribution because they rush to post as soon as a song drops.) Best lyric translation sites tho are 1. *Doolset* - best/preferred - has Korean cultural references and context for lyrics added in doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com 2. *Muish* muish.wordpress.com/bts-directory-of-ramblings/ 3. *Wisha* - doyoubangtan.wordpress.com 4. *BangtanSubs* website - general website, great resource for the older BTS videos that are still not subtitled www.bangtansubs.com/lyrics 5. *CafeArmy* another resource, including lyrics cafearmy.wordpress.com/category/lyric-translations/ There are also some great breakdowns by some Korean KZread channels. My favorites are *MiniDance* (she has a great one on RM’s solo SEOUL) and *DKDKTV* (esp for rapline’s DDAENG, UGH) Theres also ARMY theory channels like *Bookish Theories* if you really wanna dive DEEP later in your journey. Again, thank you so much for your reaction! 💜

(adorable representative M.C. for youth) - they have so many different genres (pop, ballads, rap, hi-hop, R&B...) - they have a songs called Dynamite and Butter which are their only full english songs but in every song there are always some phrases in english - they're writing their own lyrics (sometimes with help of people from their company) - in their songs they're talking about so many important topics! (self love, bullying, social economic injustices, hard work, following your dreams and so so so so much more) - turn on the captions when youre reacting to them MEMBERS: (in Korea, last name comes first) Kim Namjoon Stage name: RM (stands for real me) -rapper, leader Kim Seokjin Stage name: Jin - vocalist, visual, oldest (28, in Korea 29) Min Yoongi Stage name: Suga Solo stage name: Agust D - rapper Jung Hoseok Stage name: J-hope - rapper, sub-vocalist, dancer Park Jimin Stage name: Jimin - vocalist, dancer Kim Taehyung Stage name: V (stands for victory) - dancer, vocalist, visual Joen Jungkook Stage name: Jungkook - sub-rapper, vocalist, dancer, youngest (23, in Korea 24) All of them are also producers, songwritters and composers but the rappers are the main ones. They all have solo songs, some of them have their own mixtapes and all of them are amazing dancers. Rappers can sing pretty well when they're not goofing around and the same goes for vocalist and rap.

It's okay. BTS Being at the top is indisputable. Not just among other Korean acts either. They outsold even western artists last year.

Thanks for checking out BTS. They ARE the best group from Korea but they are much more than k-pop. Their videos are like movies. And know that the lyrics always mean more than you think. And love songs are almost always to their devoted fans, called ARMY.

Funnily enough, this is from their storyline that runs through their music videos. So it tells even more of a story than what you're seeing 🤭
