I would have been happy to pay €60 - €70, but only if they released the all cars and all the tracks for the BTCC in one package. I'm not buying it bit by bit as the content gradually trickles out as there is a large chance that the BTCC content will never be finished, as has often been the case with rF2 DLC in other classes. For me it's all or nothing. rF2 has a very good physics engine with excellent FFB, but it remains, IMO, the most incomplete racing sim available as there are content holes everywhere.

A lot of people trying to pretend that 2 tracks and 2 cars for $30 is the same price as other sims are really only talking about only one other sim, iRacing. All content together on other sims, we're talking DOZENS of cars and tracks on RaceRoom, ACC, and AMS 2 will run you around $100 each (without a sale of course). And sure, with rFactor 2 you can acquire mods for free, but if you want official content, it can run you almost $400 total. A good chunk of that cost is something you can't really get around if you want to play online, which isn't as active as iRacing either, so the trade off for robust multiplayer options isn't there either. If we're doing the math, there were 8 different cars in the BTCC last year, 8 tracks (we'll say 7 because Silverstone is already available). if they release this piecemeal, $5 a car, $10 per track, that's at least $110 potentially for the 2021 BTCC content, which is bonkers. So let's chill on downplaying the costs here as if they're nothing; the BTCC game on its own would be $50 or $60 at MOST, and they're releasing it in a way that forces those fans to expect to pay twice that over however much time it takes to release all the content. This also doesn't include if they decide to release classic BTCC cars (fingers crossed) in addition to that.

A perfect comment if I have ever seen one.. The only DLC I have purchased in support of S397 is the M2 CS (because it's one of very few "race" cars I have drigen) and am looking forward to the 330i M Sport.. But honestly, the barrier of entry is ridiculous considering eligibility for online play is centered around extorting the playerbase for having to buy content they have no intention of driving/racing. rF2 does most everything right, but the multiplayer experience is shambolic because of this. Does anyone know if S397 has commented on fixing their online service??

A BTCC game would have for sure had a lot of critique, something would have been off for some youtubers. Now we have a very good BTCC simulation built into rFactor 2 and the problem is the price, although it's only a fraction of what iRacing content costs and more reallistic. I do not know where rFactor will find it's end. rFactor have a lot of problems(AI, content quality inconsistance... well, ton of them...), but I really like direction where it is going right now. At least for game engine sim features. New sound engine is really good. Yep, it requires some content polishing in term of sound balance for the older cars, but its step in right direction. In combination with one of the best VR picture in game(crisp clear picture with good color balance and excelent framerate) and so sweet FFB it gives really high level of enjoyement of pure driving. I found myself entering rFactor more and more often because of it. Not to race, just drive!!!

@@coyy9106 except for the fact that the only reason iRacing could get away with their archaic pricing model was due to their monopoly of officially licensed content and laser scanned tracks, but that ship has long since sailed out of port. Laser scanning is pretty much standard for any major sim, as well as officially licensed cars. Every single one of rFactor 2's official tracks are laser scanned, and all of the cars are officially licensed using real data with the added benefit of a physical tire model. On top of that you aren't paying 13 dollars a month just to use the content that you've already payed for in the first place and you have a wealth of free content across the internet and the Steam workshop. In terms of pure simulation, iRacing is dated at best, and pales in comparison to rF2 or ACC, and AC is going to give you as good of a simulation (with better FFB mind you) for way less money and still an ability to play some degree of online racing. The only thing iRacing has on rFactor, or really any other sim for that matter, is it's online infrastructure, and if online racing is that important to you then there's really no choice but to bend over and take it up the ass, otherwise any other sim is a better choice.
