BSA Rocket Three (A75V) - Investigating Another Gremlin

Фильм және анимация

During a ride out to the local branch of the BSA Owners Club (East Midlands Branch), the Rocket Three developed a problem on one cylinder after a stop for petrol. It got me home OK as a Rocket 2.5 but let's investigate another gremlin!

I spoke with a Norman Hyde regards chokes on a T160 and he advised me to remove it and plug the cable entries and tho I'm down in tasmania if you tickle then you go, no beat up.

Thanks for the interest and comment. T160 settings are different to preceding T150 and A75 settings so I've no reference; however, my A75 does need some choke initially before it warms up otherwise it fails to rev and might stall.

Cheers Larry sometimes the obvious things get missed even if they’re slapping you in the face - but not this time thankfully.

@@geoffgreenhalgh3553 Thanks Geoff. I agree that something's not quite right on the video so I've just checked the bike. The circumference of the rim and tyre are running true, but the rim flange has a very minor undulation so nothing to worry about, and certainly the handing of the bike is great. Thanks for pointing out though.

@@BSAPowerSet Strange that the tyre is not as out as the rim. Beautiful bike by the way!

Nice fix Angus ,you have your choke on the handle bars I assume, which way did you run the cables and did you use the standard lengths from junction box to the carbs,I tried to move mine from the left side carb but found the routeinterfered with the throttle arm.

Many thanks Marshall for the interest and kind comment. Blimey you got me on that one so I had to check. Yes the choke lever is on the bars. I use standard cable lengths either side of junction box. As the three cables from the junction box are the same, I run the main cable and junction box in the centre under the frame spine and splay the L and R from there.

What do you think is the advantage of a three-cylinder 750 over a twin-cylinder 750 or any other size motor for that matter.

Much smoother Phil as crank in primary balance. More power and better power curve from a less stressed engine - most larger Brit twins were hogged out developments of a smaller twin.
