Good show, mate. Must admit it's tear-in-the-eye stuff when I look at all these old Brit bikes. I'm sure you get more emotional the older you get!!!

Cheers Phil. Yes I think you're right. We're just old romantics.

Thanks for the interest and comment Alan. My first brit bike that I bought as a student in 1976 was a '68 Lightning. It ran well and at the time I was blissfully ignorant of sludge traps and oil pressure.

Its always bitter-sweet seeing the Furys - I was just about to start working life in 1971 and was already a dedicated bike fan . . Velocette had gone under, AMC ceased in 1966, Royal Enfield were no more . . .but at least we had BSA/Triumph and the new exciting 350 twins were just what we all wanted !! . . .alas it was not to be . . . Your two examples are stunning, that beautiful frame and the neat styling - I think I would have gone for the high pipe version - it looks very stylish indeed. . Had they reached the dealers they would have sold like hot cakes, and the three cylinder version I gather was invisaged would have been very special. . . The Americans would have loved them . . Great video, thanks 👍👍👍👍

Many thanks for the interest, kind comment and for sharing an interesting anecdote. I agree that the Furys might have sold well but the factory at the time just couldn’t risk any serious warranty claims and the motor was just not quite ready for final production before it all went belly up.

But the workforce ridiculed the new bikes , calling Umberslade Hall the new design centre Slumber land Hall. In the 90s I met one of the former workers in a pub who took great pride in having helped bring down down BSA ! ( Honestly ) Sad , sad history . I was a student in the early 70s and of course the Marxists abounded.
