    I grew up riding BSAs in the late 60's. I think it's great to see the name back on a good looking retro bike, even if it's made in India.

    100% in agreement with that! ! Unfortunately in today's market most manufacturers, with the exception of Indian owned Norton, seem to be building bikes where production costs are the lowest. You can't put a price on history and heritage sadly!

    If these ever make it to Australia I would be tempted, just purely on the looks. But your review raises an issue I have seen on Indian manufactured cars as well (and some Chinese made ones for that matter), that there seems to be a lack of attention to detail, which shows in areas you pointed out, such as the hose and cable routing. It doesn't mean they're a bad product, just that they could do with a bit more tidying around the edges.

    I thought that was a good honest review. I think this bike will be well suited for the type of riding I do in the countryside. I'm not in a hurry anymore and just like to take in the moment. The radiator always seems to be the issue with people but have you seen the Kawasaki Z 650/900 RS. Also big radiators but not many people appear to complain much about those bikes. I like the BSA in black and also this years colour which is totally black and that radiator becomes a little more discreet 😊 When I decide to change my RE 350 Classic it will be either a new BSA or used Triumph t100. Decision decision. Thanks again for the good review and your excellent channel.

    Thanks Deb - nice to see you in charge. This is clearly a good looking bike and that is probably one of its main selling points. It was good to hear that its engine is a Rotax product, so it should be strong and reliable. I expect it will take some sales away from both Royal Enfield and Triumph, but i would also seriously consider those two brands if I were looking for a classically styled roadster.

    I think your review ties in with what conclusions I came to after test riding one for a couple of hours. I think I would buy one over the Interceptor as the Goldstar was much more comfortable for my height. I feel the bike price is a little too high when compared to a Moto Guzzi V7 on offer at £7500(I'm a biased MG fan) I've been down to Crewe many times and viewed the BSA and Royal Enfields as they are my local dealer. To sum up if I could get a used Goldstar in the right colour and for the right money, then I would very seriously consider it, but not at full retail price. It's the lack of attention to detail like the engine stickers, usb hub, etc. that let it down.

    Is it heavy lifting it off the floor from the side stand? It is top heavy or not? Can you put your feet down solid on the ground when on the bike? Is the clutch pull in hard or easy? Is the throttle twist hard or soft? I ask these questions because I owned a BMW F650CS and the clutch was a very hard pull. And I sat on the RE 650 super meteor, it was very hard to get off the side stand. It was very top heavy. Clutch pull was hard, and the throttle was very hard to turn. I have sat on the Moto Guzzi V7 and it was very easy to stand up, low center of gravity, super easy clutch pull/throttle. And I could put my feet flat on the ground. It may be the way to go? I do like big singles though, and I love the looks of the BSA. If it will ever come to the states? Who knows?

  • @bikerdood1100

    @bikerdood1100

    Personally I didn’t find the BSA top heavy, It was easy to stand up straight from the side stand and the clutch and throttle appeared lighter than my V7 (I have an older V7). I am 5”5 and I was almost flat footed, and felt comfortable sitting on the bike. If I had to chose, the V7 would win hands down. The sound of the Guzzi is just beautiful whereas the BSA really can’t be heard over the wind blast. Although the Guzzi is more expensive it is definitely worse the money. Hope this helps - Debbie.

No oil leaks, no head lamp cracking . No poor wiring issues, no poor tank paint , no issues with the petrol tank cap 😂 Oh the exhaust being stainless cleans like new within 1 minute using Solvol autosol All these people complaining about it just so funny 😆 Mine is staying original no removing the baffle, no changing to drop bars, no bar end mirrors No moving the number plate Don’t mind putting panniers on at some point that’s about it I think.. Nice review, but like you said the Moto Guzzi offers more for not a lot more money, plus there are loads available second hand unlike the BSA so even more of a bargain. I think the arrival of the Triumph 400's will also make this bike start to look expensive. This 50bhp bracket has suddenly got very competitive and I don't think it will be too long before we start seeing 2nd hand 650 RE's for under £3500.
