I like to play "Chain Reaction" nice and loud. One of the most haunting songs he or anyone else has ever done. The whole album is perfection from the songwriting, performances, and production to the sleeve.

At least once a year 'Mamouna' will play in my car, and always, someone will ask what it is. I'm happy that I've turned at least two people onto it. It's like sharing a beautiful secret, and feeling pretty proud of myself for doing so. It's like a tapestry with real gold thread sewn into it.

This is a lost masterpiece!! I have only just discovered it, after years of loving the late Roxy and Ferry sound. I think the tepid reviews, on it's release, kind of buried it. That, and perhaps being more of an atmosphere piece than an album containing obvious hit songs. I have to agree with Robin Trower, this is probably Bryan's best complete work as a "solo" artist. I've been listening a lot to the 80's into the early 90's Ferry / Roxy era. I love the albums, such as Avalon, Flesh and Blood but also some less known gems like Is Your Love Strong Enough. The production and the SOUND of it all on a nice hi-fi is so enveloping. I think this is also probably his last great complete solo album (of this era of sound. I do like the musical standards he's done too etc.) As I mentioned, it doesn't have the smash radio songs from his Boys and Girls album, like Slave to Love and Don't Stop the Dance. But, hearing this work, for the first time, that quality is actually a strong point in creating that mesmeric mood. The elements are united without immediate "songs" jumping out at you. This gives it more of the possibility to be a grower. And I know that it will grow. It's incredible to me, that Mamouna has slipped under the radar (my own included). It may have been brushed aside by critics as merely "pleasant", or an "album of B-sides" / "album tracks". But, on re-assessment, (actually my first assessment) it's "all killer, no filler". Excuse the awful reference. My congratulations to everyone involved in this towering, beguiling, emotional, oceanic work.

He's dead-on about painters setting aside their work for a long time & coming back to it with fresh eyes . Fortunately, this album is a fucking masterpiece right out of the gate.

Hearing a version of "The Only Face" here with only Bryan's vocals and piano is just divine. Much gratitude once again.

A great singer & songwriter, his songs have an amazing haunting quality to them, there is no one else quite like him. And STILL such a classy and eloquent looking guy, sadly today's pop stars wouldn't know the meaning of those words, now it's more fashionable to walk around looking like an unmade bed. Ed Sheran for all his talents, classy & eloquent aren't part of his resume. Seeing him at these star studded award ceremonies he looks like someone who's come to empty the bins but just snuck in to see who's at the show. Bryan is a true class act and a proper gentleman, long may he continue to make great music, a legend and a true musical icon.

This was very enjoyable. I think back to the summer of 1972. I had already got Ziggy Stardust and then shortly after in HMV I heard what turned out to Roxy's debut album. What chance of these two albums being released on the same day?! Magic times. At least Bryan is still with us and Roxy are in the RRHoF at last. Thanks for posting this.

What a funny (comical & odd at the same time) thing to include in a promo video, but the comment & BF's face(s) as he says it are so endearing. Makes Bryan even more adorable, & it's such a contrast to the torment seen on his face earlier when singing in the studio. Again, thanks
