Someone's Daughter - Someone's Son
I was ok at first, my mum met my dad, he was on the booze, then it all went bad
There was violence, we couldn’t turn him round, was sick of being abused
Sick of nervous breakdowns
Addiction hit me, white lines ’n alcohol
Smoking weed, was numb to it all
Don’t walk by - spare a thought for this man
Don’t walk by - just do what you can
Someone's daughter, someone's son
We’re out there together - in every weather
Someone's daughter, someone's son
You are invisible, not invincible
Just invisible
invisible
Was in a dark place, was stoned n drunk
But there’s no fear when you’re high on junk
I was slipping away, I was breaking down
then I’d do another trick, on the wrong side of town
Don’t walk by - spare a thought for this man
Don’t walk by - just do what you can
Someone's daughter, someone's son
We’re out there together - in heavy weather
Someone's daughter, someone's son
You are invisible, not invincible
Just invisible
invisible
Are you giving the support you can, n’ inspire everyone to go slow (slow)
To change their lives, change attitudes, not fear what you don’t know (know)
Are you someone’s guardian angel
Someone's daughter, someone's son
We’re out there together - in every weather
Someone's daughter, someone's son
You are invisible, not invincible
Just invisible
invisible

This song tugs at my heartstrings. I work at a food bank and this song could have been written about so many of our clients - or, as we prefer to call them, our community members. I always try to remember that the people we serve are all someone's daughter or son and they are all God's beloved children.

Looks like Portland Oregon. Sad reality. Our people are dying on the streets. Sometimes no one knows. A number. It's not The kind of world we imagine as Children. We grow old and anyone could be wondering where their Next meal will be coming from. Or where they can rest their Head. Pray 🙏 there's an answer to pain, sickness and suffering. Pray for peace 🙏❤

This song tells the story of the homeless from their own eyes. It's sensitive towards their feelings and points out that they are real people with a tale to tell. I have stopped to talk with some of them and they are so happy when you do. Bryan Adams is brilliant at getting people to listen and help others. ❤

Bryan Adams can bring his music to reality. So much IS happening in our everyday lives, and it's so important to acknowledge it. Our government is failing to address this issue and deal with it. Bryan has brought it to our attention with this song. Thank you so much! With much love, a fan ❤

This great song & voice! I myself was fallen in darkness in life! Started abandoned boy, living on streets, teen depression, drugs & struggling adulthood! I made a choice in my age 28 & decision I'm not going down that road to destruction the rest of my life! I cleaned up my act & put myself thru schools! I published a memoir book about it! Life isn't easy when you dont have anyone & alone in the world! But each person can change! You just have to just decide to do it because no one can do it for you! Nobody helped me, but I made a choice to change my life! If I can do it, then you can too!

Beautiful, made me cry. There's nothing worse than homelessness. Even if you're ill you can get through it if you have a roof over your head and support from others. Even if you have to go through the dying process, you can get through it easier with support. When you're homeless and without family or any support... literally there's nothing worse.

I agree it is like a death of your humanity and identity, you are humiliated in a way no human should ever be !! Anyone could be homeless at anytime no person is exempt we all need to be much nicer and compassionate !! There are so many people that need to have understanding love ... like they are your family all I can think is if I was really sick and had to sleep on a city street being sick it's JUST WRONG

Bryan this is a wonderful song. As the lyrics are most poignant and addresses the issue of homeless people and their plight. First song I have heard to relate to this daunting subject. Heartfelt emotions to reflect upon. You sing this in a very gentle way. Which means it is easy to listen to. May your success continue always. You and band are so successful because you write and perform wonderful songs for everyone. Excellent. Full of praise most highly. Thank you so very much. Kindest regards from me Patricia.

I met you Mr Bryan Adams Sir when you came to Texas this year and ever since then I've been wanting to make a change and I've been wanting to make music, because how much you've inspired me I am writing music and I am currently making a "make a difference" board because this world has gotten rotten... "Like the world we're living in, hurt and full of sin" that's a lyric that I came up with for this song that I'm working on. What I want to do is do something like USA for Africa or Northern Lights but that is everyone from everywhere! Helping each other and spreading awareness of the problems we have!! I hope that one day I can make that dream come true. I really just want to make a difference in the world with the time God has given me I'm still praying that you and your gang will be safe on your tour Mr Adams 💖

Sometimes, when I listen to Bryan's songs occasionally, I always wonder thinking that has Bryan really left the music world for good? He is my most favorite one with his voice like no one else. I always never got tired of listening his songs. It saddened me that the current generation will not ever know of this legend. This song is not about the problems homeless faces. It's about humanity. When a new soul came to world, it brings so much joy and happiness. It brighten the family. But as time went by that new soul who came into this world bringing joy, happiness and brightens the family has forgotten all things that the new soul brings and gave them so much, those who gave life to new soul forgets and made them a burden. When they reached certain age, those who brought them kicks out of home that once gave them love, joy and happiness and brighten that home doesn't matter anymore. They're like you've reached this age and that age now you gotta leave this house without even thinking what will happen to them and what fate store in for them. It really saddened me when I saw young souls who haven't reach 19 or 20 of age sitting, sleeping without all us knowing whether they've at least eaten a bit or not. To escape from this desperate, uncertain and sad life most of them lands in the world of drugs as a way of escapism and the new soul that was once a source of joy, smiles, happiness and hope are lost forever. Those types of people doesn't have the right to bring new souls in to the world. Just for a very few moments for insatiability of their lust many innocent new souls who knows nothing and have done anything are forced in this world filled with predators. All of you nincompoops, take care of those souls that you have forced into this world until they can stand on their own feet.

Well, this song is about homeless people. Even before watching this song, whenever I saw homeless people living alone on the footpath, I used to imagine would their mother, wherever they are would let them live like that. Now this song echoes the same feeling. The gist of this song is that we should all look at them as someone's daughters and son and support them in whatever way we can.

Exactly what I was going to say....I don't live in a city where there are a lot of homeless people, but I don't understand how people just walk by them when I see the homeless or the homeless camps on the news, like they are invisible. And not every homeless person got there by doing drugs or are on drugs. I came very close to being homeless after a severe auto accident and being unable to work while my body healed. People lack empathy these days. I am on Disability now and I don't have much, but if I do see a homeless person while I'm driving, I will find the closest place to buy some food and some water, and then bring the items to the homeless person. They are always appreciative and sometimes they'll tell me their stories and I don't judge, I just listen. We need to take care of one another. ❤

We need more of this. People / celebrities like Bryan bringing attention to this issue of homelessness and the need to address it once and for all. We should not have people sleeping in the street, when we live in such an affluent country.

I don't live in a picturesque area of my city. But home is everything to me and even more. I'm scared, and I don't understand when someone doesn't have a home. This man is defenseless! This should be the primary problem now within each country.

It's a tough one. My granddaughters father is an addict. He had numerous mugshots...long story. My daughter died and the guy took my granddaughter. He had never raised her etc...took me 2.5 years to get her back. He went to jail 8 times in that time frame. And has gone multiple times since. Just got out of a rehab again...living homeless. Calls her... blames it all on me!!! Because I took her home where she needs to be. My perception has changed a bit.
