Funny how even with diesel, the engine sound is very caracteristic of BMWs

I loved how me e38 sounded with a straight downpipe . no mufflers or anything . It sounded like an american wartruck xD

I love a good diesel clag. These sound great at low rpm and heavy load.

I believe you. Had the pleasure of driving an E90 335d and was blown away with it!

1:40 sounds realy good 👍

They all sound different per chassis. E39 M57 sounds the best😉

The first is 100% N57 since its a facelift e91, also sounds too high pitched for a m57. 0:30 probably too, the E70 had both M and N 3.0 engines, same kind of high pitch.

You’re absolutely right about the E91, but as for the E70, I can’t say for sure. Could just be down to the exhaust

The E70 is 100% a M57. To be precise the 231HP version. Go look the original video.

Weird because I got a E91 LCI M57 😉 The first two years had the M57. For the 2010 model year, they got the N57

Unless it is a 330d that had the exhaust pipes changed, it'll be a M57. The F30 335d had the n57 but they kept the m57 for the facelift 335d

You can get quite a good sound out of some V6 diesels but no inline diesel will ever sound fantastic.

Still sounds like a tractor, only louder. So - it's a loud tractor

Although I don’t agree with you, i do believe that they’re good engines. Just not as good as an M57

E91 is not m57

Look, you just cant have everything. You have nice mpg, and speed. Leave sound for petrol engines.

True , m57 is straight 6 diesel engine. However every bmw straight 6 petrol engine sounds better then m57

I respect your opinion, but I love the sound of the M57 along side Many other diesels. Of course i Like Petrol engines as Well, but the M57 holds a special place in my heart

Have you ever seen or hear a tractor? I got my M57 since 3 months. I am 1000% petrol head. I just wanted a good dayli with low consum, first decided to buy 320D. I choose the 330D M57 cause its unbreakable und needed only 1 liter more. This engine is crazy! I think the best mixture of power, for this crazy power low fuel consum, and a sound while you drive you never could expect a diesel could do this. Yes the 4-Zylinders sounds like traktors, but you cant compare this in anyway with this engine! I think you god really no plan, or you get everytime overtaken from a 320d in your petrol car😉

I have never understood why the sound of the car shows up at full acceleration or high revs at the limiter. If I'm buying a car and want to know its sound, I logically look for a video of the sound during normal driving or at normal speeds - that is, where the engine is running 99% of the time. These accelerations are a waste of time and the engine (mainly diesel) has a bad sound at revs. The M57 (I have it in one of my E39's) has the nicest sound between 1000-2000 RPM.

Better an M54 without that bad smoke. Diesel is trash

Yes, for a Petrol engine, the M54 sounds very good. But for a diesel, the M57 is amazing. If you don’t agree, That’s okay, but there’s no need to say that diesels Are trash, when a lot of them make more power than the M54

@@BaraE34YT a diesel have more torgue and the range is unbelieveable but this smoke is 🤮 The rear bumper is always black go to stats and look You can see that the M54B25 or B30 has better acceleration. On the way I didn't want to hurt your feelings. I had 2x e39 525 and 530d myself Now I have an E39 530i and I enjoy driving more and fewer problems.
