I was there, in the guest area right up front. This was Jeff opening for Sting. The audience didn't seem to know who he was or how to react though eventually started to get into it. His movements here suggest he's a bit aggravated by the situation. Speaking to him backstage pre- and post-show was awakward. Saw him at the end of the week, once again opening for Sting, at London's Hyde Park. He appeared more comfortable on home ground. Chrissie Hynde, Jeff's longtime friend and occasional collaborator was there, though arrived just minutes too late to catch his set. I've always thought it would be great if they put a band together for a tour - she's on his 'Space for the Papa' and he's on the Pretenders' 'Legalise Me' . She modelled her hairstyle after him and plays a Telecaster because he too had played one. Here he is with the Pretenders after getting a call from Chrissie inviting him down to the studio. The recording guys didn't know who he was but after he left the building they were ecstatic in a 'WTF, who was that?' way. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mGhq0MqpZdOTkrQ.html&ab_channel=HamptonInjuryLawyer

will we ever see a book from Beck titled The Art of Fingerstyle Electric Guitar? Because this is awesome and awe inspiring. Interesting how many really good guitar players have dispensed with the pick entirely or at least use a flat pick and three fingers, or a thumb pick with all four fingers. Sonny Landreth, Richard Thompson, Ry Cooder, they're all "fingerstyle" players. Beck is, of course, in a category all his own.
