It would not be right of me at all to let this comment pass without highly recommending to you Childish Gambino's "Awaken, My Love!" album, I'm not sure if you've heard that Donald's a rapper (as well as of course, being a well-loved actor too), but the album itself is a modern classic already and heavily influenced by Prince. As well as tapping into Funkadelic and, pre-dating Silk Sonic's Bootsy Collins worship on "After Last Night" by quite literally sampling I'd Rather Be With You for Gambino's lead single - of which, you may even have heard - "Redbone". Bless you if you've already heard it and I've just info-dumped for no reason :) But, I don't know many front-to-back listens that top it. Don't let his "rapper" status fool you, Donald Glover really blessed us with the most soulful and timeless vocals of the 2010's, even halfway through at 2016, as a young punk and metal fan it was my first introduction to real funk and classic rnb sounds and I maybe wouldn't have fallen so deeply in love with it all until Silk Sonic, without AML. 💜💙🤘

The 70s, my era, when Motown ruled the soul industry and Soul Train was thee show to watch every week. I learned to dance by watching Michael Jackson AND the line dancers on Soul Train!! The moves Silk Sonic is doing is some of what I did at the clubs. lol Anyway, when I first heard this, I screamed and kept screamin at every little move they all made. And how about that Anderson? As far as I know, he hasn't performed like this before. With singing, rapping AND keeping in step with the choreo! Dang! And no words about Bruno's moves. How great was this performance including the end of the show when they did Smokin Out The Window? smh That LIVE stuff is the best when it comes to Bruno Mars!

To me, there hadn't been a perfect album since II by Boyz II Men, until this one. This is everything music was ever meant to be. ETA. oh, also, Paak's shiny chest... I heard in a review how it looks like his tattoos are his shirt in the Silk Sonic videos/during their live performances. I don't know why, but I thought that was such an ingenious point.

You are so right! That's why I don't like rappers today. In the 90's you never confused them. You never mixed up Snoop Dog with Jay Z or Tupac with Nas. Everyone had their own flow.

I couldn't be a backup singer for this song. I'd be too busy dancing to sing! Also, that drummer is killing back there! Jet magazine? Don't forget Ebony and for us New Yorkers. The Amsterdam News. Those were the days! Your commentary on today's music is spot on. Everything and everyone sounds the same. It's like rinse and repeat. Originality seems non existent and when they perform most just stagger around the stage, in front of a million dollar set. When the set behind you is more interesting than your performance, something's wrong.

That other perfect album with multiple Billboard hits was Thriller by Michael Jackson. The Asian female dancer on Soul Train was Cheryl Song. Here's the KZread video with her talking about how she became one of the regular Soul Train dancers: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pYiexqRsZpnImMY.html The dancer partners who worked the scramble board were indeed told the name of the person or music artist before they unscrambled the name. I first heard this by watching clips of past Soul Train dancers telling what went on behind the scene with the scramble board.

Please, if you could react to "UVERworld - nanokame no ketsui" ... Title: UVERworld - the decision on the seventh day Be sure to watch the English subbed version. You will want to read the lyrics instead of watch the video (TRUST ME IT'S that amazing)... imo There's only literally 1 reaction, and the lyrics are so beautiful, the language is so beautiful in this song. Maybe you won't react to it, but it is a genuine musical treat.. It's a beautiful Japanese song, and the music video concept is so heart wrenching. I really understand that maybe you won't like japanese rock music, but this song is so beautiful. I don't want to spoil it.. I will share the first line of lyrics, please think about it. The music video is so well done, it tells such a beautiful story. "You are a singing cicada in the dreaming of winter"

Hey Monq! 👋 I really like this album too. And it's the one concert I'd want to attend despite COVID. Distinguishable -- is the word I believe you were seeking when you said you can't tell one performer from another. ① I blame the record companies first of all for creating that mess. They see an artist with a hit song ascending the charts so that's the act and sound they have their artists follow. ② Then there are those 𝘷𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘴 who feel "ooooh, I can do that" and imitate what they've heard. But what makes me curious is you used to react to Korean Pop performers. To my ears, so few of them are distinguishable and so little of it compels me to make a purchase. I find myself returning to only three groups, a few subUnits formed from those groups and a few of their soloists. How did you do it? React so positively to so much, I mean?
