It's inspiring that's for sure. I have been listening to Bruce Springsteen since my mom fell in love with him and his music at the age of 11 or 12 around 1981 or 82. I remember sliding the vinyl record out of it's cover and placing it on the record player ever so gently not to scratch it. I remember she had quite the collection of vinyl records... Mostly Bruce. I have no idea what happened to them over the years.

I think there'd be a riot if he played a concert and left out TR. The way I put it, Jungleland might be the best rock and roll song ever written, but it's not even the best song on the album. That would be TR. Always at the top of any list of best songs by the Boss.
He has written a ridiculous amount of great songs, but somehow for me this is his most epic. The imagery, the desperation, hope, everything is there. Sometimes it’s a little over the top, but somehow it all blends into a perfect mix of working man’s blues.
@CPSJSMSUUMUGA

Heck, he wrote a ridiculous number of great songs on this one album ("Born to Run," 1975). In addition to Thunder Road, it has Backstreets, Jungleland, Born to Run, She's the One, Night... I think it ranks with Abbey Road, Who's Next, The Rising, Automatic for the People, Bookends, Darkness on the Edge of Town, London Calling, Exile on Main St., The Joshua Tree, and a few others, as among the greatest ever recorded.

@@1957PLATO I discovered Bruce in July 1978, shortly after Darkness was released. For about three months I listened to nothing but Born to Run and Darkness. Whichever one was on the "turntable" (device used until about the mid-80s to turn round vinyl discs and reproduce recordings - and making a comeback) was my favorite album I had ever heard. I even objected to a weekend car trip because the car had no way to reproduce this music. To this day I can't decide which is my favorite Springsteen album. The River (1980) is also awfully good. And Magic (2007). You can almost throw a dart. But to truly "get" Bruce, I think you have to see him live, which I first did on September 30, 1978. I walked out of the Fox Theater in Atlanta that night, thinking, *knowing* I had just experienced the greatest rock & roll that had ever been or ever would be.

@@CPSJSMSUUMUGA my introduction to the Boss was Born to run. At first I was not too impressed, but it grew on me and shortly after I bought Greetings and The Wild albums. Saw him once (Paris 1985) and I realised he is the best rock’n roll performer ever. Kept buying his albums until Born in the USA and then he got off my radar somehow. That does not mean he did not make great albums after that but his early work was really epic.
“Except roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair.” These lyrics have contributed to saving my life. Dark times have fallen upon myself mentally, The Boss has 100% contributed to the fact I’m still here fighting everyday. My problems are nothing compared to half of you reading this, but they’ve been influenced. This song means so much to me. I hope and I’m sure he knows the impact he has had regular people’s lives. Thank you Boss!

a great scene. with the friends dad singing along. Love this song, and that movie, so together just awesome.
I love Bruce's relationship to the audience. Even before he blows the first note on the harmonica - he gets a wry smile knowing that the audience is going to love it - and they'll want to sing along at the beginning. By doing so - the audience is telling Bruce they love the song and love him. It must feel good on stage - and why he suffers so in real life.

Timeless and one of the best songs ever. I memorized the entire song and sang this A cappela in 1980 43 years ago in front of my high school at Perkiomen in Pennsberg PA not far from Asbery Park where we used to visit as high school kids. Jungleland, Prove it all Night and many others just bring so much warmth and indescribable feelings to appreciate life, music, and more importantly the good old live performances like this that can't be beat. Watching Bruce in the old days live telling his stories between each song was like you were living another life with his lens that I never got with any other performers. An entire stadium packed with thousands upon thousands singing along to every line of a song written in a language that isn't their native tongue is a testament to the transcendent power of music. It bridges the boundaries between worlds and, who knows, maybe even universes. To me, this allows me to retake in my head the photograph of her riding in the backseat of my car trying to communicate why this is her favorite Springsteen song through my crappy Bluetooth speaker (and me worrying that the rattling sound of my loose rearview mirror was ruining the moment). Through this memory - this bright flash of light during the height of COVID (when there were no vaccines yet), "Thunder Road" becomes mine now, as well.

and Danny Federici. May you rest in peace.
Love the look on his face as he anticipates bringing the harmonica up to his lips, knowing the reaction the fans are going to give as soon as he breathes the first note.
The Drive of his Sound for me is my daily speed to survive in this crazy world. Thank you Bruce Springsteen !
The most beautiful song ever written!!!!
RIP...Clarence clemons 🎷👏👏👏💓
This is my all time favourite Bruce Springsteen song
I once heard Bruce say something to the effect that this song was invitation to join him on a very earthly journey, surrounded by people you love. That is exactly what this song did for me. I was 19 and living in my car the first time I heard it, and before he even sang one lyric, my life was changed. I drove home and wrote $50 on my calendar. It was all I could save from my next paycheck for college. Five years later I had two agrees, a wife, and had become a father. That wouldn't have happened if the screen door didn't slam. Today, the lyrics, "Don't run back inside, darling you know just what I'm here are tattooed on my forearm, my dog is named Springsteen, and I owe the life I created to Bruce. And the best part? There are hundreds of people in these threads who know exactly what I mean. - Jack McKissen

Whenever I feel down this is the song that I play. Loud as I can on my car stereo, put the top down (even in the rain)... by the 3rd play through, through laughter and tears I can tackle whatever the problem is. Bruce you are a genius ! I love the way everyone come together in the last 10 seconds, there just seems to be love of playing a great song that means to much to everyone and there is no need for big egos - just genuine mutual respect on stage. Thank you Bruce. x

Just did the exact same thing. Woke up from a nap in a little bit of a bad mood and I knew what I needed to do. Just listened to this song for the 3rd time tonight. Amazing what it does
First heard this in 1979. Used to listen to it when my parents were out on the old pioneer record deck. Still listening in 2019....

This is the greatest first song, from any album. The harmonica intro is just the perfect opening to the ultimate Americana album
Never bored listen to this masterpiece.
I would feel cheated if Bruce sang the acoustic version in concert. This is simply iconic.
It’s my favorite Bruce song and by extension, the greatest song ever written, by the greatest poet/rock star ever. He eclipsed two of the top music performers: Dylan and the Beatles.
He's truly an amazing musician! All his band is perfect! What a legend
How can so much great music come from person? Incredible!
He has so many variations of this song, but any of the renditions from the late 70s and early 80s have so much energy.

Real music, real artists, real instruments, the Boss 😎
I think this video captured one of the best days of their entire lives, like the stars were perfectly aligned.
One day my dad asked me :Which song do yo prefer, "Jungleland" or "Thunder road"? I answered thunder road, and he said why? Dad, listen to this song and enjoy. He immediately was agree and he hugged me. This kind of moments you will never forget

I don't know: I think I'd have to go with one of the classics off "The Wild, The Innocent and the E Street Shuffle!" Like 4th of July (Sandy), Rosalita, or Incident on 57th Street. ALL GREAT SONGS, to my (not so) humble way of thinking. He is, indeed, The Boss!! :-)
I love how he interacts with the audience in the sense of letting them sing the lyrics sometimes instead of him, even gesturing it, and how well the song is written.
I thought a lot of groups were great in there day but Bruce and all his songs with the great band have left all behind thanks for all these lovely songs from wid
It always amazes me when I see English-speaking performers in concert in non-English-speaking countries and everybody is still singing along. Something so beautiful about that, not just because it's the English language, but don't know else how to say it, haha.

That's very true, but English is widely spoken in Barcelona - it's a very international city.
He is the Boss, and we are just little workers of him. Only this can discribe Bruce Springsteen. Feed us Boss.
This is poetry.
Take note this man is the greatest live performer in the history of music -not Elvis, MJ, Beatles, Stones or any other act!
Seeing the late great Clarence Clemons smile is EVERYTHING. Such a timeless classic.
All of their reactions after 4:32 just shows how great a performance this is. The smile on Bruce’s face says it all!
Just awesome. There is no any word to describe this song and performance. Pure passion, pure Springsteen. I am only 21 and I am so much glad to listen you.

THUNDER ROAD song written by Bruce Springsteen on his 1975 album Born To Run. The screen door slams, Mary's dress sways Like a vision she dances across the porch as the radio plays Roy Orbison singing for the lonely Hey that's me and I want you only Don't turn me home again I just can't face myself alone again Don't run back inside, darling you know just what I'm here for So you're scared and you're thinking that maybe we ain't that young anymore Show a little faith, there's magic in the night You ain't a beauty, but hey you're alright Oh and that's alright with me You can hide 'neath your covers and study your pain Make crosses from your lovers, throw roses in the rain Waste your summer praying in vain for a savior to rise from these streets Well now I'm no hero, that's understood All the redemption I can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood With a chance to make it good somehow Hey what else can we do now Except roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair Well the night's busting open, these two lanes will take us anywhere We got one last chance to make it real To trade in these wings on some wheels Climb in back, heaven's waiting down on the tracks Oh oh come take my hand Riding out tonight to case the promised land Oh oh oh oh Thunder Road, oh Thunder Road, oh Thunder Road Lying out there like a killer in the sun Hey I know it's late, we can make it if we run Oh oh oh oh Thunder Road, sit tight, take hold, Thunder Road Well I got this guitar and I learned how to make it talk And my car's out back if you're ready to take that long walk From your front porch to my front seat The door's open but the ride it ain't free And I know you're lonely for words that I ain't spoken Tonight we'll be free, all the promises will be broken There were ghosts in the eyes of all the boys you sent away They haunt this dusty beach road in the skeleton frames of burned-out Chevrolets They scream your name at night in the street Your graduation gown lies in rags at their feet And in the lonely cool before dawn You hear their engines roaring on But when you get to the porch they're gone on the wind, so Mary climb in It's a town full of losers, I'm pulling out of here to win
I get goosebumps hearing that harmonica and piano
"A screen door slams. Mary's dress waves. Like a vision she dances across the porch as a radio plays." So beautifully visual. I can see it and hear it as he sings the lyrics.
