I bought the Live 75/85 album on vinyl and taped my favourite tracks on it, and I walked to and fro from work listening to it every day. But, this, Incident on 57th is my favourite Bruce track ever. The lyrics weaving a beautiful, yet tragic tale, and the blistering coda at the end. Wow.

Unlike most rock musicians, Bruce's songs are so full of meaning. Every single word is there for a reason, creating and setting the scene. Every song is a story, like an epic movie. Every note on his guitar or piano, every note by the amazing musicians of the East Street Band, every nuance in Bruce's voice, every expression on his face, they all add up to something quite incredible. How any single human being can maintain such a high level of creativity and quality for 60 years is beyond my comprehension.

Great audio. Bruce can play "Incident" as a soft rocker, as on the album (The Wild, the Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle, his second, release in November 1973) - and it's great -acoustically, alone, playing the piano or guitar - and it's great - or as here, a full band anthem - and it's great. This song could be dropped almost anywhere into "West Side Story" and it would be a showstopper, probably the best song in this classic musical.

to me, this song will always be a Danny Federici song; his chords during the chorus were hauntingly beautiful.
