I'm glad you liked it Harri. I'm trying to turn you on to songs that were not constantly played on the radio. I mean, the songs that were played on the radio are great too but there are so many songs off of his albums that people don't know about. Songs that show the true versatility and originality of this fantastic artist.

This is Billy Joel's favorite Bruce song. It's best when it leads directly into Jungleland.

I love both songs, but this one especially. This song paints a vivid picture in plain, straight forward language. Two kids going across the river on a drug run, and the tone lets you know it won't end well. Jungleland, my second favorite, is more like his other songs. It's sung poetically in metaphor and double meanings. You get a feeling of what's going on, but not exactly. You really have to paint your own picture with most of his work.

I feel like this is the song that takes Born To Run to a whole other level. The commitment to the overarching story of the album, the way it slows everything down in preparation for the epic finale. But most of all it shows his range and talent as a songwriter. The lyrics are so subtle, so many details build a complete picture. "Here stuff this in your pocket, it'll look like you're carrying a friend." Perfection.

Got this live at a show where he played the whole Born To Run album from start to finish. Bruce with Roy on piano and Kurt on trumpet it wa sublime and then it went into Jungleland. A fabulous show to be at.

The trio supporting Bruce's vocals are Roy Bittan on piano, Richard Davis on upright bass, and Randy Brecker on trumpet. Both Davis and Brecker (his brother Michael was a very popular tenor sax man) were among the leading session musicians of the day. Originally entitled "The Heist," many critics have surmised that Bruce was influenced by Lou Reed's "Waiting For The Man." Thanks Phil and Harri.

Never cared for him at all...and I'm from New Jersey. His politics as a Democrat are now leaning towards socialism/communism, so I definitely don't like him. He's been a capitalist for decades, but now he turns, while keeping his wealth. Doesn’t care that our border is a disaster and people are being killed or raped by the invaders. Of course, he can afford security. So, I don't want to listen to his voice that miss the notes. Later!

New Jersey? Yeah, right. Did some billionaire or another pay you to spread such hate filled nonsense? I read the Chinese Government was flooding KZread comments with people posing as Americans to spread division and rancor during an election year in which the foundations of the republic are at stake. Would that be you? At any rate, it sounds to me like you might enjoy the Ted Nugent channel more.
