    There was a quote attributed to Marcus Aurelius. "Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods but unjust, then you should not want to worship them." Always stuck with me.

    I love Jim Carrey's comedy, but when it is intertwined with an actual genuine, heartfelt story, it just hits on a different level. This movie does it, as does Liar Liar, so if you haven't watched that yet, I know you'd love it.

    This movie profoundly changed the trajectory of my life. I was trying so hard to fit in the box that others chose for me that I lost my authentic self. The part where God tell Bruce that he brings joy to others by being himself and that what he was literally made for resonated with me so deeply. I was able to reclaim my self identity and eventually break free from the cult that I belonged to.

    6:14 Sweeps are time periods when television stations/networks typically schedule programming designed to attract a larger than usual audience. The concept of sweeps began in 1954 when Nielsen began mailing out one-week TV diaries to households to fill-out what programs they were watching. Originally, diaries were mailed and collected in the northeast households before sweeping across the country to the western markets.

  • @steveplowright5014

    @steveplowright5014

    Жыл бұрын

    more importantly, however, those ratings were then used to determine how much money the network could charge for commercial airtime. The higher the ratings, the more they could charge. This is why sweeps weeks traditionally had better than normal programming scheduled, to bring in the viewers and boost the ratings.

The Bible talks much about it, but even if you don't believe, that message transcends religion. Beautifully done. That's a really great movie, even with my bad theology detector going off from time to time 😅 There are so many great points and counterpoint to a lot of misconceptions on what it means to be a believer of God. And Jim and Steve's comedy duo is next level! Anyway, I love your reactions bro, you always keep it real with us, even if it's a bit personal. I'm happy you've at least coped with a lot of the hard stuff. Much love to you, my guy. "Be the hand and the feet of Jesus Christ", and keep on keeping on!

    You should watch Evan Almighty, to finish the Morgan Freeman God duology! The film itself is fun and silly, but its nice that it revolves around Bruce's rival and his personal life.

    Bruce's revenge on Evan is actually pretty poetic. You might even say "biblical". Evan took Bruce's words - so Bruce basically said "Fine, you want my words, well here you go bucko." XD It's misguided and overkill. But it isn't random. He thought about that shit. haha

    I remember one of the cut takes of Steve Carell spurting blood from his nose and "spontaneously" combusting. That's why he was originally looking in the mirror because he had a massive Home Alone-esque bald patch where his head was on fire.

    21:50 When he sings the lyrics, "What if God was one of us?"...I don't know where I heard it, or if I came up with it (which is doubtful, but whenever i sing it, no one else has ever heard it prior to that), but any time i hear that song, i can only hear/sing, "What if God smoked Cannabis? Hit the bong like some of us? Drove a tye-dyed micro-bus?"
