We still have those rifles around here, still in service and full auto. Regard from the Philippines...

A lady I worked with had a husband who was a captain in the Philippine army. He served for 20 years and when he retired, he kept (?) his service M16A1, Colt 1911A1, and a S&W .38 special revolver. When he passed away, she gave the assault rifle to her husbands sister and the handguns to her own family members, because she was migrating to another country, that restricted civilian ownership of firearms, especially those ones. She told me, the reason she gave the guns away to family, was because the local scumbags knew her dead husband was a career military man, and was willing to risk getting shot, to steal those guns away.

Sounds like the camera has tinnitus.
The AR-10/15 variants have been in military and civilian use for almost 60 years now. Regardless of the initial teething issues it had, it's a brilliant design - a testament to Eugene Stoner's genius. Lightweight, simple, mostly affordable, smooth firing impulse, and dependable - as long as you keep it clean. Shoutout to Brownells for giving us these retro editions. Wish car manufacturers did that - although that's just not possible considering today's litigation and safety hurdles, not to mention shifting consumer demands. I'd much rather have a '69 Camaro then a '19. Just sayin...
I need to go to bed i gotta work jn a couple hours. Oh look a new iraqvetersn8888 video
Always love to see a retro M16.
I really enjoy you guys commentary. One of the best "gun" channels ever! Thank you!
Ive own a eagle arms EA15 for the past 25 years . Looks just like this rifle except its all black. I get tons of compliments. Love the old school looks.
In May of 1964 I walked into a local gun shop and there was a black AR15 on the wall. After growing up listening to vets from WW2 and watching Korea take place in the newspapers I was shocked It looked like a space gun back then. I bought that rifle and a like new 9mm Luger that day. The luger cost me $34.95 I still have both to this day.

How much was the AR?
Patreon member here. Thank you for taking us down memory lane and for all the wonderful vintage rifle and pistol stories. That kind of knowledge makes me feel rich.
back in 1969, during WEAPONS FAMILIARIZATION in SERE school, we were introduced to the M 16. I have no idea which version it was. immediately i realized why the name became the MATTEL TOY of guns. it did NOT look like or feel like a GUN, but did the job just fine.
@keithlucas6260
5 жыл бұрын
Actually Mattel made all the "plastics" for the rifle. Usually the quantity of rifles ordered is larger than the ability for just one manufacturer to make in the time needed. Just look at the original jeep made by Willys was also made by Ford.
@dobeekind

@@keithlucas6260 ok, i vaguely recall some of that conversation. yes on the JEEP out put. as a woodsman kind of guy, the M-16 just was out of place in my world. it just did NOT feel like a REAL GUN. time marches on and look how far we have come today with ALL the AR options. we are so lucky to be in the USA. now all we need to do is eradicate ALL the ANTI GUN NUTS & DEMOC RATS. lol.
In my early days the 5.56 had the rear charging handle and the 7.62s the charging handle was under the carry handle. The NZ military had both the AR 15 in both nato rounds as well as the FN-FAL & SLR in 7.62. I prefered the FN over The AR.
One must admire how smooth a rifle length gas AR is.

I built a "602" from a Brownells their upper and lower. Really happy with it.

Thank God for Pete Brownell! I have built Retro Ar,s Before they were cool. I always lamented that NO Company was making them. Colt brought one out but they were unable to price it where it shold have been then enter Brownells! Notice the Chrome plated Bolt/ Bolt carrier assembly I build ALL of my AR-15,s that way! Just as Eugene Stoner intended back in the day.
I love seeing good people with good guns doing awesome things with open sights! I do think people these days underestimate what skilled people did years ago with only open sights

That’s nice, Colt gives Regan an M16-A2. Shortly after he signs the Hughes Amendment. Awesome....
1 in 12 twist is ideal for 55Grain bullets. Due to the slower twist, the bullet had an utmost destructive effect in Vietnam when hitting the poor VC unlucky enough to stand in front of it.

hello iragveteran8888 I was resenty watch your video on the martini Henry and it has inspired me to obtain one for myself and the ammo for the Henry (577) its insane in price but the 303 Henry or also known as the martini Enfield is alot cheaper my question is what was yours chambered in
I run a PMAG in my 601 clone? Its a NoDak marked lower... but same... LOL I have an actual Colt 601 bolt though.
Love that ping
Very cool rifle and pretty damn accurate to.
That looks a lot like the M16 I qualified marksman on, (except for the color), back in basic training in the spring of 1982.
Listen to that flash hider sing! Anyway, that's a nice rifle. Thanks for sharing.
For the rear sight one was for 0-300 yrds. When you flipped up the sight it gives you 10 clicks of elevation for the 400-500yrd line.
The 601 makes that tuning fork sound like the M14.

I admit to taking part in the retro kick right now. I un-built a flattop, modern gun and turned it into an M727ish gun. Classier, handier, simpler. Also: Would love to see you guys run a course of fire with these guns (and others). Maybe similar to TFBTV's Run-and-Guns?
Nice fox gun 😉
Not a single mention of the Brass Deflector?? or lack there of? part of the history, mentioned Forward Assist..
To cure the flash hider prongs from ringing, just slip a curtain ring over it. It stops it cold.
