Brothers REACT to Band-Maid: Rinne (2019 Official Music Video)

Ойын-сауық

Band-Maid is a Japanese rock band formed in 2013. The band is known for their unique combination of hard rock and heavy metal with a distinct "maid" theme, where the members dress in maid costumes on stage. The group consists of Saiki Atsumi on vocals, Miku Kobato on guitar and vocals, Kanami Tono on lead guitar, Misa on bass, and Akane Hirose on drums. They are known for their energetic performances and skilled musicianship.
The song "Rinne" is one of the tracks from Band-Maid's album Conqueror, which was released in December 2019. The song features a strong rock sound with powerful guitar riffs and dynamic vocals. The lyrics of "Rinne" focus on themes such as perseverance, overcoming obstacles, and the cycle of life and death. The track showcases Band-Maid's distinctive style, blending elements of hard rock, metal, and melodic vocals. It's one of the many songs that demonstrate the band's versatility and appeal to both rock and metal fans.

If Band-Maid isn't ripping your face off (Rinne, No God, Black Hole), they're soothing your soul (Manners, Daydreaming, Memorable). Their music does what great music is supposed to do... move you, if only for a moment, into another realm. What more could you ask for from a Band of incredible Maids?! Thank you Glenn & Adrian, for bringing your viewers into the Band-Maid experience.

As a more melodic, blues rock guy, I didn’t like this song at all on first listen. It’s another example of their dense, progressive compositions that I had a difficult time finding the groove. However…in time, my ears and brain became more maidified, helping me to understand what they are doing. Now this song is one of my favorites among their more metal offering. My only lingering regret is that Kanami didn’t come up with a more cutting, searing solo as a contrast in this track. If you’re asking for more recommendations? Oh boy do I love to hear that! “Puzzle,” official live. One of my absolute favorite Kanami solos! Like a jet ✈️ fighter taking off…goosebumps

They opened their 2020 Shibuya concert with that song and it's ... an explosion - total blast! Their best concert intro according to me. And I'm delighted because tomorrow, they are releasing their februari "spin-of" concert (at the Yokohama arena, despite having played 33 songs, they had to make cruel choicces and tons of fan favorites were left behind - so they decided to play a dedicated concert for those loved tracks in februari 2024, and RINNE is part of the gig of course!).

Song inspired by a Japanese horror film of the same name about a serial killer who films his victims last moments on 8mm film trying to catch a picture of their souls leaving their body. Thus having it shot on 8mm, actually I think Super 8 which replaced 8mm. Anyway neat look.

BAND-MAID consider themselves Hard Rock, not Metal, though you would never know it from this song. It's probably their most Metal influenced song, very Thrashy. However, 'Black Hole' or 'Different' would probably give it a good run for the money. Even 'Shambles' is pretty heavy. I think this OMV is even better than the Official LIVE Video, though a bit grainy. It was shot on 8 mm film in an abandoned house because the Japanese Horror Movie of the same name also used a lot of it. As you saw in the MV, Rinne is short for Reincarnation.

The MV was shot on old 8mm film stock in honour of the Japanese horror film of the same name. In the film a serial killer films the dying moments of his victims on 8mm film believing he can capture the soul leaving the body. It's a favourite film of Saiki. Here is the film on YT with English subs if anyone is interested. Good twist at the end too! kzread.info/dash/bejne/fH2pqLCDZ6ionJc.html

My understanding on this song is they wrote it to silence the Japanese music critics who saying Band-Maid was moving to a "poppy" sound and not hard enough. This song was a flying middle finger to the critics, thus the "SHUT UP" at the end. It was shot on real 8mm film as Saiki is a fan of Japanese horror films and had something to do with them using it here, giving it that gritty look.

Kanami always loves to experiment with her compositions. Band-Maid is really difficult to "pigeon-hole" into a rock genre. They will even mix them in some of their songs. That's gotta drive people who like defining genres crazy!
