BROTHERS JOHNSON PERFORMED "AIN'T WE FUNKIN NOW" & "I'LL BE GOOD TO YOU" AT THE LA COUNTY FAIR 2018

The Brothers Johnson performed ok on this night. On this clip they performed "Ain't we funkin now, i'll be good to you and strawberry letter 23" Their new bass player plays pretty good, he reminded me of Louis Johnson. But something was off with the music. I don't know if his bass was in the wrong key in some of the songs but it just didn't sound right. Take a listen and tell me if you agree. They did play strawberry letter 23 on point though.

That badd ass Bass player is Andre Berry!!
Sounds great
I think every band should have Two Bass Players...
There's nothing wrong with the bass player, per se...although the bass player's EQ requires adjusting, and the use of brighter and lighter strings would help. Louis played with a 4 string which allowed him to place his thumb on the E or A string while simultaneously playing the D and G string...with a 5 string, that's nearly impossible unless you have an elongated thumb. The issue is, in the music you're expecting Louis Johnson or Louis Johnson's sound, and it's just not there.

Good observation, let's face it, it's only one Louis..I give him an A for effort.

@@shawnhunter2171 I'm sure it sounded great through Andre's system. Leave it p to the sound guys to completely fuck it up. There is nothing you can do about it from the stage in a large venue like this. Also Louis is no longer with us, I sure don't want to see a clone up there. Let Andre interpret and use his own feel and chops as long as he serves the song. And he did that.
Can't understand. No Louis?, no "brothers"!

@@haylotroutman5871 I know it well. What I don't understand is the fact that the band should be called "Brothers" Johnson, when in reality unfortunately there is only one brother today.
Nothing wrong with the bass or the player....the problem was George, he was never a GREAT singer in the first place but he was singing off key and couldn't hear his mistakes and the sound mix was lucky as well.... if I'm not mistaken, the bassist looked like Andre Berry from Cleveland, Ohio..(an old friend of mine)...in his youth, he idolized LJ and played the songs almost note for note the way LJ would have played them if he were still here with us.....R.I.P.

Meant to type "the sound was 'Sucky' as well"
That's a tough role for the poor bass player, regardless of how good he is. I can't help but think that George Johnson is having trouble bringing the same level of excitement to the band after his brother's passing

George was never a really powerhouse player or singer to begin with and now he's older, what can he do? As long as the love for music is still there... McEnroe is probably also not what he used to be on the court. It's a one way street for all of us.
Brothers Johnson? More like Brother Johnson.
This should NOT be happening without Louis. THANK YOU....
