    Fernando Herrera Yes, its a funny and dramatic video that ends without any closure, leaving the answer open to interpretation. Gym Bro-Fitnez is stating that though the roommate was participating in many activities enjoyed by both groups, ultimately the truth is that hipsters don't lift (or they'll bust out of their skinny jeans). Ugh, foreigners. Always having to explain things to them, even when it was said light-heartedly. Chill out bud.

    John Davis I just don't agree with that. The video displays a hilarious stereotype! But only a stereotype nonetheless. And who are you calling foreigner? I was born in the U.S. And not only do I speak English well, but I don't even speak spanish! Nor do I sound like I do. Unless you're not from the U.S. In which case I am a foreigner to you and you are to me.

  • @Stbuster31

    @Stbuster31

    +BenjiCord93 wow so true and such a simple concept that i never connected the two together. Nerds, quiet types lean towards the intellectual side of things, and they feel the simpler speech and debauchery is seen as immature. Being creative and unique, whatever that is, is seen as being cultured and respected. They have more book knowledge and can resonate with anti-corporate and liberal ideals. Although there are plenty of unaware "hipsters" that just happen to wear flannel and black rimmed glasses just to be in style. Being a hipster takes some dedication but isn't that hard to switch your clothing style or like something quirky. Sure there are plenty of intellectual bros, but overall its a shorter, dumbed down speech. Its easy to be a bro in college. Partying, not giving a fuck is pretty much the norm. After college broness wears off and they become those dressy types wearing buttons downs and blazers with $400 watches. I like to think the manner of speech is like "Its a killer sandwich, bro. I fucking love it tho." vs. "Its a killer sandwich, I really find that they do a great job in brazing the meat and giving that rich, smoky flavor"

  • @GunsCarsBooze

    DM R Therein lies the problem with the hipster crowd...is it really more intellectually valued to speak with longer sentences when nobody really cares, or to keep it simple, stupid? I've never met a free-thinking hipster (or liberal) who didn't basically plagiarize some existential writer or non-conformist, anti-corporate work. All interests they have stem from these works because they validate the hipsters biased heuristics. Also, since when does having more book knowledge or resonating with liberal ideals make your intellect superior?

  • @Stbuster31

    @Stbuster31

    9 жыл бұрын

    ***** Basically plagiarize? Ideology becomes embedded in culture after a while. You can never truly know where a person obtained their way of thinking. Yeah, if you were chilling in Haight-Asbury or Greenwich in the 60's their probably be the same seminal works being explicitly or implicitly mentioned. Knowledge isn't pinned like that nowadays. Well except for conservatism with Rand and Goldwater. And biased heuristic mentality is kinda the norm for most conforming groups or subcultures. Most don't want to reveal their motivations for why they chose to do what they did to conform. Who knows this could be you? Some will once they distance themselves and it becomes ironic for why they conformed. Intellectual people, to me are people who enjoy or are comfortable talking about the abstract, world events, politics, get behind movements, that stuff. Joe Rogan is an intellectual. Tom Brady is not an intellectual. Intellectual doesn't mean supreme intelligence. Its more in aligned with interests and a way of thinking. Intellectuals can be liberal or conservative. Its just that being intellectual usually entails having a vaster array of knowledge in the abstract. So, most bros are more interested in the concrete. They keep their guard up. Trying to debunk things is seen as irrelevant and unnecessary. As Papa Bear says on the Spin Factor, "am I wrong?"

    Hipsters and Bros are like Democrats and Republicans - on the outside they seem as different as can be, but if you scratch beneath the surface they're all about the same things - except instead of corporate $ and appeasing as many constituents as possible - it's molding yourself into a specific group's way of thinking and being angsty. I started this comment off just making a dumb joke but I think it's actually kind of true haha

    In 2009 it seemed that hipsters cared about nothing - everything was artifice. In 2014 I hear people so labeled for expressing literally any technical discernment. People also can't seem to agree on whether it's a state of being or an ethos, a demographic or a trope. I don't know, I suspect we are playing with words.

    I admit I'm part bro. I'm in the gym 6 mornings a week hitting the big 3 at my limit. I love being the alpha. I size up everybody and rarely see any need for concern if things were to take a turn. And I love that my stature is enough to quiet most guys when they see they're about to truly piss me off. At the same time, I'm a chess playing, software developing, classical violinist among many other things always on about puppies and buckled a stuffed bunny into my passenger seat with a water bottle for laughs. Oh, and I fucking hate hipsters.

    I don't understand why people get so annoyed by hipsters. Why does everyone think they are so pretentious just because they like Mumford & Sons and wear flannel. Most of them aren't self centered and talk about random books no one has ever heard of. Those are stereotypes. The real definition if just being creative and artsy, liking different kinds of music and art. In reality the hipsters are just the misfits.

    Anyone who actually labels themselves or tries to fit the demographic and stereotype is a poser and a fashion victim. The term cam about for people that are just cool, cultured, and intelligent individuals in the pacific Northwest, and then the stereotypes spread. By the way, Nirvana may be mainstream but aside from being very derivative of the Melvin's and Screaming Trees sound, they are pretty good ..
