My favorite part of this video has always been the people who always run to the edge to see if "that guy just died", only to see danny casually pedaling away like nothing strange has happened.

I discoverd that clip in 2009 with my grandfather. I was 14 yo. Grandpa was so excited during waching this clip and skills of that dude. It's more of a personal preference. This Video is just legendary and brings back a lot of good memories. I know flatland, but this Video here is just a classic. It also had a huge Impact, it made street trials popular and showed the world one of the most talented riders ever to exist. I've seen many bike Videos, but this one is just my personal favourite.

Sometimes I watch absolutely crazy street bmx videos, and question Danny's "king title" XD. But every time I come back to watch his work, no further questions - the king he is!

it's a flare. Really hard to learn to do, but after you can do it, and have enough practice, you can do it off of pretty much anything with a smooth transition slope

@@judechandler5102 When I was kid, some kids down the street built a quarter pipe in their driveway. My dad wouldn't let me even *walk* over there and watch. The irony is that I stood a lot slimmer chance jacking myself up, over there, than doing stuff alone and unsupervised in parking lots and ditches. So, I always had to ride off in the opposite direction and flank around the neighborhood 🙄 They were always doing flips and crap, too. More psychological than physical.

I really hope we get a 15 or 20 year anniversary remake of this. 90% of the spots still exist and Danny has only improved over the years. I'd love to see a shot for shot remastered or an updated version with different tricks or shots, on the same spots.

Me and one of my best friend discovered this masterpiece in 2009 while we were snowboarding in austria. He died from braincancer in 2014. RIP in Andy. You will never be forgotten.

Heard this song today at a pub and it reminded me of this video. 14 years on, still one of my favorite videos on this whole site.

I still come back to this video. The video that started it all. My love for filmmaking which has provided me with a full time job, my love for extreme sports, for bikes, for Danny, and for this sport. Crazy to think how much has changed since this was released.

+Celtic Warrior That's outside the Scottish National Gallery in case anyone's interested and the bit of grass he landed on is outside the cafe so the people inside must have shit themselves. There's also a clip of him trying this exact same spot and he nearly does die, the bike frame splits in two and he goes flying on to the concrete.

Saw this video 11 years ago and still think it's his best one. The song, the sheer fun he is having. Always wanted to get a trials bike but I'm an old man and I break too easily. Can't believe it has been 11 years though...

Dude, I used to be a BMX racer when I was kid, I won a few championships, then I grew up and did put my bike aside, this video rekindled my passion as a old man. Unfortunately I nowadays break easy too, almost died trying to pull much simpler things off. Still, every time I re watch this video, there is a side of me that goes like: perhaps this time…

23 years later this video is still one of the best videos on KZread.

This video was such a huge part of my childhood. It's what got me into bike riding in the first place.

Watching this makes me so nostalgic. Especially now Waverley Steps are gone and St James centre is demolished.

Lucy D - As someone who used to live in edinburgh back when this was filmed up until a couple years, it’s amazing how I know 98% of the places. From the University to the Parliament, from Marchmont and the Meadows, to the Pool and the Standard Life offices on Lothian Road, to Gayfield square and the car park on Kings Stable Road. I do agree though, soo much has changed now, the St James centre bridge, and Bristo Square are massively different now. It is still however nice to know that overall Edinburgh will always realistically remain a constant wherever I go :)

2023 and still love this amazing video of Danny the legend MacAskill, I remember it 1st coming out and damn I couldn't stop watching it. Great music and awesome tricks, absolute class👍👍👍

My dad showed me this video when i was 3 or 4 so that would be 2009 or 10 i remember watching this with him and asking to watch it almost every night, i was amazed by it. i will forever have good memories with this video. now in 2021 im 14 going to be 15 coming back to it and I now mountain bike with my dad and make even more memories.

12 years ago this video was created and I was sold, I begged my parents to buy me my first bmx bike because of his talented stunts. 2022 and I’m now in a career not having much time to go out and ride but I still keep up with this man, a true legend and a role model to my generation.

It's 2024 and watching it makes me so nostalgic ✨ I literally by heart the whole video because I used to watch it so many times. He inspired me to have a bmx and try to do cool tricks....

This video went out when my best friend passed away. 12 years later a Netflix serie came out with the same scene: a funeral, this Song. I can't help and broke out in tears. Damn Danny, you still rock

holy shit i watched this video when i was like 10 and i dont think i fully realized just how fucking amazing danny really is. that flair on the tree and the ledge ride whip to ledge ride were crazy as hell, not to mention all the other crazy shit.

Despite everything he and others have done since, this is still up there with the best on KZread. I think it's because the production is 'amateur'...this is not a criticism. It just shows what impact can be made with a bit of video, great music and a genius on a bike. The first time I saw this I remember being blown away by how fluid Danny is on a bike...and it makes everything he does look more fun.

In trials it's easier to go towards your power foot. If you notice, he rides the way a regular footed trials rider rides despite the fact he is goofy.

Is he really goofy? I mean almost all the rotation tricks he did were pedals right foot back, rotating clockwise. But then there is the oppo whip as CashlessCaptures pointed out, but the tree flair around 3:06 is oppo, too!

ditto, one of the best book's i've read for ages, brought me to this video, just had to google Danny MacAskill after reading the chapter on trick cycling. Appropriate he has skill in his surname, never seen anything like it.
