Brooklyn "We had it All".mp4
Growing up in Brooklyn, NY.....in the 60's 70's & 80's was a time before all the high tech entertainment we have now. We had to manufacture our own good times and did it without ever leaving Brooklyn...Created by Lou Rizzo & Dedicated to my Cousin Susan Pugliese, who taught me more about life through example than any book, school or teacher could ever have.

Grew up in Canarsie. Left in 85, stayed in staten island till 2012, now in queens. Brooklyn is always my home. When someone asks me where I am from , I always say BROOKLYN. That never changes.
Good old Brooklyn, NY, the one and only. In a way I wish I could go back in time to a simpler way of life that all of us brooklynites once shared, beautiful memories. Thank you LRizzo44
Born and raised in Brooklyn, lived there until 1969. Lived across the street from St. Michael's catholic church. Seeing so many memorable places and cartoons I grew up with. Getting a glimpse of it all again, after more than 50 years ... Wonderful!
We all miss Brooklyn... the way it was. Anyone of us who experienced growing up there during those years and before love to tell stories about the way our lives used to be whenever we bump into each other. And we especially love to tell our kids and grand kids. It seems like a place and time that was just ours, because it doesn't exist anymore, only in our hearts.

Your so right. Watching that video was watching a piece of my history. It was great. It Brought up so many feelings & thoughts of how it use to be. I still live in Brooklyn but it isn't the same. All this gentrification messed up the soul of so many neighborhoods. It is all about making money now. Thank god for pictures and old video cameras & Beta!!! LoL.

The Brooklyn Sign said it all!! Greatest place in the World! Having being brought up in Canarsie and having gone to Brooklyn Tech in the 60's, High Schools in Brooklyn bred some of the most famous people in the world!! May all my fellow Brooklynite's, New Yorker's, and our American brothers and sisters stay safe during this time of hardship and crisis! We are American strong!!!!

I love Brooklyn. Not that Brooklyn that exists today but the Brookly of my memories. 1970's and 80's on Schenectady Ave. The time of my life.
I take Brooklyn with me everywhere I go.
The late 50's through 1980 I wouldn't trade those years and memories for anything. Great times we had then. Thanks for the memories.

Beautiful collection of pictures. Love the Bath Av fireworks shows picts. Nothing Beats Brooklyn!
What great pictures to go with my memories of growing up in Brooklyn, my neighborhood was Coney Island. But thanks to school, I got to spend time all over Bensonhurst, Bay Ridge, Gravesend, Sheepshead Bay, Manhattan Beach & Brighton Beach. We were the lucky ones. Poor in pocket but rich in experiences. Miss it.

Wonderful times and places! No food stamps only Green stamps. No welfare but plenty of workfare. It's impossible to describe what it was like. Growing up in neighborhoods like this was your first day of school, the first time you had ice cream, your first black eye and your first kiss rolled into to one. just GREAT!! (I want to go back)
Great memories! 50s 60s 70s and 80s were out of this world. Sorry to say that things are not the same anymore. People are getting priced out of everything. I'm glad to say that in another 20 or 30 years I will not be around to see what happens. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. Thank you.
Brooklyn was a magical place to be a kid or have a family there. This tribute was Amazing. I will always cherish my memories there.
Brooklyn in the fifties.Nothing like it.Special time.Thanks.
When I used to tell my two daughters what it was like to grow up in Brooklyn in the 1950's they would always say, " We missed out on everything".
Grew up in Brooklyn Coney Island 1956-1986 I remember alot of what is in here. I was just back there for my older brothers funeral. Seeing this helped put a smile on my face remembering all the good times. RIP Jimmy I'll see you when my choirs here are done.

John you and I cut from the same cloth. I grew up in the foster care system, but in a good family in Bed Sty. I left in Nov ' 77 to join the Army. Strictly for economic reasons. I actually lived in Bensonhurst. It was rough but I wouldnt trade those Brookly memories for all the tea in China! "Brookly ride or die!"

Growing up in Brooklyn was the best. Were could you go and call for a friend and the next thing you know your sitting down having dinner with there family. The memories are endless. I just received a text from a friend from 2nd grade asking how I was doing. I'm talking 55 years staying InTouch. Last night I was texting for 2 hours with another friend until we got tired. The laughs, memories there just endless. We all have our own book we could write all because we grew up in Brooklyn
1950s early 60s was the best. Hello from Bay Ridge Brooklyn lovely memories I am 73 years old now how was it out

My first date in the 70's was at Jahn's Ice Cream parlor on 86th street. Would not trade anything for the memories of growing up in Brooklyn in the 70's!
Grew up on ave x / ocean pkwy. It was great. Moved to Staten Island in 89 then Adirondacks. Brooklyn will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for putting this piece together.
Those sure were the days sadly gone with the wind.
This actually gave me goosebumps! I love the memories, and ditto all of the remarks. There was no other place in the World. Grew up on 65 th St. between 17 th and 16 th Avenue. The first-flagship store of Sbarro was on the corner of 17th . Wow. Had fun, and now just a great memory. Thanks for sharing this.
It's not the same anymore. No more Mom and Pop shops, no more kids playing in the streets, the feasts ain't what it used to be. Moved away in 2009, went back in 2011 and I couldn't stand it. I couldn't wait to leave. My neighborhood was overrun by yuppies with their tea shops. It was sad to see all those memories gone forever.

Douglas Waterman You're talking about other countries or America? I'm talking about America. The Muslims in Bensonhurst or anywhere else in the country are outstanding people - they own businesses, they send their kids to school, they buy beautiful homes in nice neighborhoods - they're not bad by a long shot. That's why the media is poison - it's trying to override our realities with bullshit stories that are happening around the world and telling us that it's happening here. I hate the media because of that. I turn it off when I see the propaganda. In America the Jews, Muslims, Hindus and Chinese are outstanding citizens - educated, harmless, overall good. What's going on in England or Germany is different than what we have going on. They're having different problems - problems similar to what we had when we let the Cubans swarm Florida 40 years ago. It had nothing to do with them being Catholic or even Spanish, it was all about a mass migration of impoverished people and them not knowing how to behave. At the moment, we don't have that problem with the Asians or Muslims.

That's when the Italiani ruled Brooklyn. In the 1990s there was an exodus to Staten Island and Long Island so there are fewer paesani left in BK.
