    I can't say for sure but would guess low 40's. The cluster was mostly in the lower box but some were trying to creep into the top box. That's why I didn't remove top box, I didn't want to smash any bees when I put it back on. I'd rather be safe than sorry. After all I plan to sell this nuc come spring.

    You are right on the price of the beekeeping pouch. There are $35 and $8 shipping anywhere in the United States. I seen Kevin's video and ordered one the same day. Mrs. MP said it could be a Christmas present for myself from her LOL. So I won't get mine until tomorrow but I will definitely be doing a video on it as well. These brood minders look like they could definitely give you some good feedback on what's going on in your hive. So I may have to check these out after the holidays. Thanks for sharing.

    I’m in Marion County. Are you utilizing their scale too? On the fence about the overall importance of that tool. Would be an expensive add on for each hive.

    Thanks Jason and I hope you have a Merry Christmas, I made my own 2.4Ghz wireless temp and humidity sensors. The data is logged online automatically and I can monitor the temps. I did make like 3 sensors for the cost of one of the broodminder temperature sensor. I made a fourth sensor on an empty hive so I can compare live hives to it and determine if I get a dead out.

  • @JCsBees

    @JCsBees

    That's pretty cool! BroodMinder automatically up sensors in the scale to measure outside temps and I believe the hive sensors gather local temps from online sources and it show up on the graph with the sensor readings.

    Too expensive, should be $9.99 or $4.99, but we are in bee world and it is new. When sales build up and stock increases, prices "should" drop. Why did you say no burr comb on the ground? Never heard that before. Maybe let Kevin know that it would be nice if he makes the pouch's belt loop with an outside snap. Then you put the leather strap under your belt and snap in the front. Easy on, easy off. No taking off the belt. Compliments of the gun world.

    Bill Henson I bought this tool pouch about a year ago and love it. Just go to HF and buy the tool belt - it was either $6.99 or $9.99. It’s now a unit that ya just throw on. Re: burcomb on the ground - I’ll be interested in hearing Jason’s response but I was instructed to avoid doing it as it served as a SHB attractant.

  • @JCsBees

    @JCsBees

    @Bill Henson I don't think it needs to be that cheap. BroodMinder needs to make a little something for their efforts. I think the $30 T2 sensor is priced perfectly. Sure it's not for everyone and I understand that. Think of it this way, disturbing bees in the winter when cold can cause them to use more food stores. A lot of people knock on the hives just to make sure they here a buzz and that all it takes to increase food consumption. With the BroodMinder I can see my bees are thriving just by checking temps. Any comb at all the hits the ground and isn't pickup will attract small hive beetle. Maybe not this time of year but it best to practice year round.

    If you pay me, I'll tell you. Otherwise, you'll never know. Ok, fair enough. Ignorance is bliss. This technology will never be exploited by anybody but hobby beekeepers as long as the prices stay current. Can anybody imagine a commercial operation with a thousand plus hives investing in this? Nope.
