Probably the Greatest Grand Final ever...the story behind it all.. the hype.. the two great indigenous captains who were near or at the end of their awesome careers battling it out...the passion between the two Queensland clubs..older brother, younger brother rivalry..was such an awesome game to watch!

not even close. Was actually one of the worst. Besides a grandstand finish it had more errors than any gf in history. Even the result was decided on an error.

It's a minority sport in the UK, France, Ireland etc. rugby league is and always will be the most popular sport in Australia and NZ by 2050

AFL fan here. I was in qld when this game was on. First nrl match I had watched for 6-7 years. What a match. Something I’ll show my kids.

another reason why this grand final was one of the greatest was the mutual respect the teams had for each other especially after the game excellent sportsmanship showed by both teams

@@nigelandandi453 Yep. This was a great night but true cowboys fans will always have a small pain in their hearts that Matty Bowen and Aaron Payne weren't present. They were the cowboys spine for a good 7-8 years and Payne was beyond unlucky not to get a single Origin call up. Payne and Bowen were a combo like 3 years before Thurston was even on the scene for the Cowboys.

I think the 2006 Grand final is the second best but the 2015 GF is just phenomenal and probably one of the best in NRL history

I’m the biggest broncos tragic but I still think that is the greatest moment in NRL history.

This game is the greatest NRL game I’ve ever seen, I’ve just watched Broncos v Roosters (21-20 Roosters) Friday 13th August 2021 that is now a close 2nd to this. (From a Wigan fan). ❤️🏉

This was the first rugby match I've ever watched and now I AM HOOKED.

Without a doubt this is the best NRL Grand final wins I have ever witnessed. The NQC team snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat, they fought right up to the end which saw them equalize seconds before defeat was imposed. For JT to kick the drop goal as he did after being denied of his conversion kick by the post truly etches his name into the history monologues as one of the all time legends of the rugby league game. The North Queensland Cowboys had an amazing year as a whole, which was just reward for all their efforts. Jonathon Thurston you brought so much to this amazing game and you've inspired so many. You truly are a legend and superstar of the game!!!

That missed conversion by JT made the game even more interesting and none of us in the family support cowboys except my older brother he was on the edge of his seat with his cowboys NRL hat backwards some of us tried to make fun of cowboys that they were going to lose the game.. when JT nailed that field goal my brother jumped up off his seat kicked the chair and burst into tears of joy. The best Grand Final ever. And yes, I'm biased. This was my birthday and I had been a Cowboys supporter from before their first season. I had been a Broncos supporter, simply due to lack of choice as a North Queenslander. 20 years of waiting. I watched this with a Broncos friend and we both alternately rejoiced at this fantastic arm wrestle. Both teams were incredible. And as much as I would have loved to smash the Broncs (the 'boys almost never do that!), it was still a fantastic game. Such tension and excitement. A last second try off the back of JT refusing to get tackled and Morgan finding a way. Then the conversion so close. Then Ben Hunt drops it. And we have to wait for the "inevitable" field goal. Incredible.

I loved the pathos and excitement of it missing and then Hunt dropping on and the Broncs desperately trying to stop the drop goal and the Cowboys not panicking. Absolutely fantastic game in so many ways. Of course, it helps I'm a Cowboys supporter, but it was incredible Rugby League in numerous ways. Oh and it was my birthday!

I was up the top of anz, I remember thinking how an earth did Morgan get the ball. From afar, I thought jt kicked the conversion, looked like he was cheering he got it. All the broncos fans around me were saying he missed it you f***head etc. It all went so quickly. The drop, coote running the ball out wide, I thought he'd mucked the whole thing up. Jt slots it, forever etched in my mind.
