BRONCO TIE ROD FAILURE - Finally Fixed!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Everyone knows (even if they don't want to admit it) that the new Ford Bronco has some key weak points - the steering rack and the tie rods. Both of these are common failure points, even on the Bronco Raptor. And since we've already eliminated one of those with the billet aluminum steering rack from 74Weld, that means upgrading the tie rods is next. Cause nothing sucks more than being stranded off road on a trail in the middle of no where...with a bent or broken tie rod.

Wow! How many "Firsts"?! We're all winners! Happy Birthday Kevin. Regular guys get a tie on their Birthday - Kevin gets Tie Rods! Brit wearing "Utah Lederhosen"..? Does this install count as a Chris "booty call"?! Color Country replaced my WK's front drive shaft after it broke on a trail with y'all a couple years ago. Great local shop. Those tie rods look amazing. LiteBriteNationBirthdayBroncoBash!

You guys are awesome. The level of information is very educational to anyone interested in a wide range of vehicles, off-road or otherwise. How and why you might want to modify them and how to look at trails and make your way through, usually without an issue. However, I'm compelled to point out a couple of things you're not doing well. Shop safety is lacking! You're teaching that working under a vehicle without eye protection is OK. Be honest now, how often do objects or dirt fall on your face and unprotected eyes when under your rigs? The first rule you learn in shop is to have eye protection! I hope no one has an issue with losing an eye out of it. Using a floor jack is a common practice for most of us as we don't have a lift in our garage. But to not use jack stands to support the vehicle and then roll under it, is totally against safe jacking practice. OK, I know, rolling under a jacked-up off-road vehicle with the tires on maybe as there's so much clearance under it that you'd have to be under a tire before having an issue. But, take the tires off, your chest is now the high point when the jack decides to fail. As I said at the start, your content is VERY educational and I've learned a tremendous amount from your channel but falls short when it comes to shop safety.

Those should make the raptor pretty beefy. Look forward to seeing some Colorado wheeling videos. I’ll also add some tie rods to my list for the taco now just to carry. I saw my boots were torn on my ucas and lcas and was going to replace them myself but Toyota said to make an appointment so I’ll take free. I do plan to get the upper arms for the 3inch lift eventually.

So cool to see the mods you're making to the BRaptor. Since I don't have a Jeep but a 22' Wildtrak I am watching intently to see what else I need to do. I did full NVM aluminum skids with UHMW as well as their rear shock skids. Right now just installed the Broncbuster braces and the bushing in the rack. Did Rock Slide Engineering step sliders for wife access to her ride but would have done NVM rock slider if I could have. Saw Kevins FB post about rear bumper damage curious to see what you have done there. Thats on my list to replace the big ugly plastic thing soon. Looking at DV8 comp rear bumper right now. Keep up the great content.

3:20 My wife used to have an older Husqvarna ride on lawnmower, and it seemed every time you’d mow the lawn you’d hit something in the ground and break one of the alloy spindle towers. I soon got sick of that, so I got some round steel bar and machined, not one, but two spindle towers out of steel (I don’t know how I did it, mimicked them perfectly) and installed them with a ‘now take that you MoFo’, kind of attitude! Well, the very next time my wife used that mower she hit something bad ‘mower no go’ she cried. Upon close inspection, the spindle towers that I made were perfectly fine, but the shock had transferred up the chain of command and snapped the con rod and destroyed the piston… we buried the mower several days later!

Those are beefy as hell. I’m anxious to see how your rack holds up. Id love to see a tie rod as strong as the factory unit but make them easily trail swappable.

I've seen the option for the bronco it lists the top option model with 37 inch tires compared to like a 32 on the base my curiosity is what upgrades drivetrain wise does Ford employ with the vast difference in off-road options since there's quite a difference between a 31.8 inch tire and a 37x12.50 . I'm just wondering if the 37 inch tire set factory is about as stout as someone just buying a Rubicon and slapping 37s on it or if it's really able to take real abuse with any wiggle room for a larger tire . I've seen these newer broncos on the road honestly I like their looks better than a Wrangler just wondering how the drivetrain actually stacks up ?

Regarding the soon to be too anemic 3.0, get ahold of Jeff C, your crawler friend in Hurricane (toukerville actually). Jeff uses a company called Montune in LA to build the Ford 2.3 capable of 900HP with the right tune, fueling and turbo. He's been having these 2.3's built for many of the top crawler guys in the area. I'm sure you know them all. I won't put all their names on blast here. I'd ask Jeff what he thinks about Montune building out a 3.0. If they can get the 2.3 to output 900HP in race form imagine what they can do with a 3 liter. I may be way off here, but it's worth a phone call. I know there's nothing like a big bruiser v8 under the hood, but a built 3.0 could be a really good option. Woody has his # if you guys don't.

We had to take customer builds in so she could get paid and during that time ALL of our vehicles got neglected and that’s not acceptable. So we went back to the original plan of just having chris as our friend and personal fabricator. Bec was never in the plans and we tried to adapt to make it work with 2 people but that didn’t end up working out, so now back to the original plan. Bec had 4+ months notice of this change and that time has now come and gone.

I got 26 inch jack stands. And not sure if those would do well with that vehicle. Maybe they just don’t have them cause they have a lift? I got the 4 3in1 bottlejack jack stands. Not sure about the raptor but ifs vehicles usually end up being unibody and very hard to have a decent spot for a jack stand let alone a jack besides the control arms it’s just how they make the newer cars so people can’t work on them them selves
