UPDATE: This clamp set will work with the tool kit. Please make sure the dealer you are buying it from says it will or you may be getting an older design. This goes for all aftermarket clamps.

Thanks for noting that the Brompton Toolkit won't fit with these clamps. Definitely something for me to consider because I have that Toolkit. I rarely use it, but the two times I've needed it I've been so happy that it's there!

When I purchased my clamp set, the website said it would work with some modification. Since then, I have noticed it doesn't say that anymore and some websites say it will work. If you are interest, I would recommend asking the nearest dealer.

The toolkit locates in the forward side of the frame, it is only the wrench that protrudes. There is more than enough clearance.

I have found a carbon clamp for this, and a set of springs and plastic to make the clamp stay parallel, during tightening. And even with a security bolt in the end, it doesn't make problems for the internal toolset!

Thanks for the comment! I think cheaper versions will have this problem so it's important to check. It is a great upgrade so far and saves me time ☺️

@@BromptonFamilyTime I didn't chose a Joseph Kuosac or even more expensive sets for my Lightweight, but found a reasonable prised, similar looking set for my bike. And some, carbon clamps to hold the titanium struts for my mudguards on my bike, as I changed my single, small easy-wheel to a new and larger larger double wheel set. And then I found out that the original clamps from Brompton, actually was heavy iron pieces. I have also found a Thai, made padded pouch for my folded pedal during transport!

@@finncarlbomholtsrensen1188 Nice. It has been a lot of fun upgrading parts on the Brompton. This bike is turning into a full project 😬

@@BromptonFamilyTime I have actually lost an original, unsecured clamp and bolt at a time! Luckily I was able to find it again, to be able to ride!

Hi Family! I saw in TVE News (Spanish tv) just one minute ago, images about a big tornado around Long Island. Are you ok? Thanks for your video and Regards from Madrid.

Oh how considerate of you for thinking about us, Brompton MAD. We are all fine. Yes we had really weird looking cloud that day, and we also had hails, too. The size was same as penny. 😳 Thanks for the comment! Hope you are well, too.

Will the tension of the spring rub again the paint work, later causing rust ????????

  • @BromptonFamilyTime

The tension is not that strong so I don't think it will be a problem. You should grease the clamp regularly if you are concerned.

So far i have not seen any clamp with rubber inside. There should be a reason. I wonder why they don't do anything to prevent frame scratching. Any ideas?

The area of the clamp will get scratched and rusted over time. I don't think rubber is strong enough to last. The moment I stopped worrying about scratches and rust, I started to enjoy the bike more. I know most people will do whatever they can to keep the paint looking nice, but I like the "patina" look and the worn out paint looks nice to me.

I don't remember the exact weight. In general, it will be slightly lighter. If you are looking to replace the stock one, you should consider the design. This one may be lighter but the original one was easier to "spin" open and close.
