Most welcomed, sending lots of greetings from Kenya.
My daughter and grandson brought a bromelaid home one day it had flowered. I have many plants that I love but not one of these exotic beauties. What a lovely surprise to find that they are so easy to care for. Mine has three pups( love the name) and I'm excited and ready to propagate. Thank you for a wonderful and informative lesson ❤

So nice to hear that. The beautiful thing about Bromeliads is that they gently look after themselves and then suddenly you notice their pups. Enjoy propagating them.
thank you

Hi Kay am glad you found the episode interesting.Thank you for the encouragement.
Alice, I have transplanted my Cana from my garden and put them in pots. They are growing but some of the leaves are turning brown. During the summer I get these bugs in the leaves > how can I prevent this, please.

Hi if the leaves are turning brown could be a result of the following. The soil is not well draining. or over watering or too little water. Check the leaves and see if you see a powdery residue. This could a result of a fungal infection called Rust. iI this is a case then you need to remove the leaves as once the Canna Rust gets to the crown you may loose your Canna. If it is severe then use Neem oil spray and spray the Canna at least once every two weeks. As with pests they do get attacked by a caterpillar known as the Leaf Roller. Check out our KZread episode on the Canna Rust and The leaf roller.

@@redsoilgardener Alice, thank you so much 😊 I'll let you know how they're doing!
Wait so are you saying I need to water inside the cup?

Hi Marco, the bromeliad are epiphtes and like orchids the don't really like to much water around their roots. In the forest, they collect moisture and nutrients through their leaves and the cup. Before you water the soil do the finger test and ensure soil is dry. Then water. And add a" little" water in the cup just to keep it moist.
Thank you… 🪴🌺🪴 I live in South Florida and love them in my garden ❤️
