Broken Husky Air Compressor Disassembly and Diagnosis
Ойын-сауық
This was a free Husky 417270 air compressor. It had already been taken apart before. I try and find the root cause of its problems. In a future video, I will be turning it into a reserve capacity tank.

the piston is freezing up in the cylinder that's why it was putting that much stress on the new belt. It needs new cylinder and piston. this is the reason I stay miles away from so called "oil-Free" compressors. Just bought one with oil lubricated.

Yes, what you're saying does make sense, and very well was could have been the ultimate cause of what it was doing. I also had a thought that maybe one of the valves was sticking and putting more back pressure than normal on the piston, though I did take the head apart when I parted it out and that didn't appear to be the case on visual inspection. Once I realized it was a fundamental problem with the innards though, I stopped because at that point it was not worth fixing or spending more time on. These oil free compressors are more commodity items that aren't worth fixing when something goes seriously wrong. I turned it into a spare capacity tank which is working out very well. It's worth more to me as a capacity tank than it would have been as an actual compressor!

Wild_Bill the sound clearly is of piston getting stuck into the cylinder momentarily. If valves are sticking (regardless which one) it will put lesser than normal stress on the piston. When both the valves are working perfectly; they put max. stress on the piston. leaky exhaust valve can not put any additional stress because the piston has to come over the tan pressure regardless to move the air inside cylinder into the tank.
O’well you tried! Let us know if you decided to fix it later 👍🏼
it would make a good extra tank for your new comp.

That's what I turned it into. A reserve tank. I have a video on that.
It is compressor season. I am doing one right now. It is oilless too.

I was on the fence with this one about whether to try and get a new pump but then I decided it would be fun to make a reserve tank out of it and double my capacity.
How can you find a replacement motor for this type of compressor??? How can you identify the motor without tags on it???
Yo tengo uno igual pero no sé apaga creo se le llama el automático y lo quería calibrar pero no encontré como no se calibra como los demás este es diferente.
Replace the belt and the piston. Install new seals and it will probably work fine.

Agreed; when he replaced the belt at 10:40 the piston flopped around like the piston ring was not even there.

@@stevescherer6602 where did you find the piston.
What number its belt????
Someone gave me the same one. I came here to see how one goes about removing the top cover. The screws come in from the bottom, but yours was already that far apart.
Maybe someone took the valve out and put them back in wrong. ? Just a thought.
Who are you asking the "what you wanna do?" questions?
Kinda old video, so this comment is probably irrelevant. But around 4:50 in the video it looks like the bolt that clamps down the valves is not seated correctly. It could be that you did correct that and didn't explain it, but it doesn't look correct.
I have the same compresor modelo 835522 ( VLH 158009.01 ) my problem it’s the piston if someone can give me any information we’re I can find the part.

I have the same compressor, same problem. did you ever find a replacement piston part? what site, part #. i can't find anyone who sells them.
where do I get that spare band ?

I searched for the manual online. That had a parts breakdown. Then I searched for the belt part number on Google, eBay, and Amazon. I think I found this one on Amazon.
Is there anyway to maintenance the motor itself to keep it from going bad?

Not that I'm aware. There's not much to them. No oil in them, no lubrication spots. There's usually a foam filter to keep crap from being sucked into the piston chamber... so that's about the only thing you can do... make sure that's there and not too dirty.

@@billyb351 ok. Gotcha and thank you
Can you sell me the piston? I have the same model and the piston gasket it’s no good. I think you forgot to check that in the video.
As far as I know that model is obsolete. There is very few parts for that model. I just need the piston. If there is anyone that can sell me one, I’ll appreciate it.
they be making these Air compressors like junk they even sound like junk I scarp them all of them that I find 😁😁😁😁
i have this compressor, i can't get the rebuild kit anywhere. don't buy chinese crap.
