BROKEN CRANK! - Piaggio Zip SP Bottom End Rebuild
In this video you will see a bottom end rebuild on my Piaggio Zip.
The stock crankshaft could not handle the power of the #Stage6 Streetrace cylinder any more. It lasted about 1.5 years, pretty much good.
It was time to get a better crankshaft, also for future better cylinders.
It is a #Doppler Endurance HPC crankshaft. Also new #Polini bearings.

    just about to do the same job on my liberty, did you put the oil seals in before the bearings ? or can you put them in later. also you can use a bolt with a socket on either side to pull the bearings in to place.

    I prefer to put the oil seals after installing the crankshaft and close/seal the crankcase. Remember to put little grease on the seals to slide easier.

    You can't just bang your crankshaft with a hammer because you will throw it out of balance. There are two speciality tools called the crankshaft puller and crankshaft pusher for safely splitting the engine case halves, installing the crankshaft, removing the crankshaft and centering it if needed. Also If you buy aftermarket bolts they have to be 10.8 hardness and before installing the crankshaft oil seals apply some oil because you don't want to run them dry. The reason why your bearing did not go in smoothly was because you did not heat up the engine cases enough and the bearing had to be cold and same thing goes to joining the case halves together. Also every time you remove tour cylinder or piston you should replace your small end bearing and the spark plug. Hope this helps!

    You need to get yourself a heat temperature sensor gun so you can tell what temperature ur heating the case to, also put a nut on the crank then use the rubber dead blow hammer to tap the crank in, metal to metal tapping on the crank is bad, all in all at least your about this life 👍

  • @binostuning

    @binostuning

    4 жыл бұрын

    I need to get a heat gun first. And the tapping is not metal to metal. My hammer is plastic and I'm hitting a wrench extension not the crankshaft.

  • @1sevzb475

    @1sevzb475

    4 жыл бұрын

    Thats what i mean tho, the extention is metal and contacting the crank, the point of a rubber mallet/deadblow hammer is you can tap the crankshaft directly (no metal extention), the metal extention can flatten the tip of the crank or damage the thread, im not trying to say it dosent work the way your doing it but see your going at it hard so thought id chuck you some info you could use.

  • @binostuning

    @binostuning

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@1sevzb475 OK I understand what you mean. I have used the extension just to "extend" the crankshaft. I think it doesn't really make any damage because I don't hit the extension to the shaft (metal to metal). But anyway thanks for the tip.

    !!!! On ne frappe jamais sur un vilebrequin !!! On chauffe bien les carters , ensuite on met le roulement qui doit rentrer seul, le carter chauffe le roulement ensuite et le vilebrequin rentre assez facilement sans frapper. A mon avis le carter n'était pas assez chaud. Dernièrement on ferme le carter, on fait un pré serrage des visses et on frappe légèrement sur les visses,ça libère le vilo et ensuite serrage final. Sinon le reste c'est pas trop mal, dommage qu'on a pas vu le montage des spis.

    I was a total newbee, and banged on my hpc crank. Well it never ran well. Havent used it. I swapped carbs, cdi, coil, etc and took it to other pro builders and they couldn’t find the problem on why it ran horrible on low end acceleration. Well after some time ive come to the conclusion i may have bent the crank. Hence creating a wobble, and possibly air leak while it spins! I plan to open it up. So im hear finding ways on puting it back together without hammering on the crank 😏
