    Loving your content. Very helpful and I feel confident in your advice. I'm wondering about KDP select and ARCs. Does the program allow them? Can the reviewers post their review on Amazon before my book release when I'm not doing a preorder option? How do you recommend reaching advance reviewers and coordinating with them, and distributing the book?

  • @Kindlepreneur

    @Kindlepreneur

    2 жыл бұрын

    Sadly, they can't. You'll need them to go to Amazon once you've published to then leave their reviews - which is something I highly recommend coordinating.

    Hi Dave, thanks for all the great updates. For anyone out there that doesn't have Publisher Rocket, do consider it. It saves an immense amount of time and provides info you can't get anywhere else. Now for my questions. The color-coding is nice but knowing (even roughly) how it determines green/yellow/red would be helpful. Also, I assume there must be different algorithms for the 'searches' column and the 'competitive score' column. You mentioned it considers how often a search term results in a sale. So should we just assume green is best or can you tell us more? For example, does it consider how many competitors there are? Say there are two identical estimated search values, both green, but one has 9000 competitors and the other 100. Clearly one should be... 'greener'! And anything you can offer about the color-codes for the competitive score would also be very helpful. Thanks a million,

    @@joshuagrant3821 Sorry - I must have missed the "read more' button to see the second paragraph when going through the comments in KZread studio. Sorry about that. As for the answer, to start with Green is better, than yellow and red. There are a LOT of things that go into that and those things are different depending on whether that is searches or competition. With search, it looks at the number of searches, how detailed/descriptive the phrase is (broad vs niche), whether that number of searches is a lot for that niche of a phrase or not, and whether that phrase results in sales or is it low for that kind of phrase. With competition, it looks at the strength (LOTS of factors build that and is discussed in the tutorials) of the books that show up for that phrase on the first page, and a tiny bit at the number of books that are indexed for that phrase (your 100 or 9000 example). The reason why its a tiny factor is because the number of books indexed for a phrase is a part of competition, but shouldn't be a major factor. That's because while it can indicate that Amazon believe books should be attached to a phrase, it doesn't matter how many of them there are...what matters most for your discoverability is how hard it would be to show up on the first or second page of the results for that phrase. I've seen keywords that had 36000 competitors be much easier to rank in the top 10, than a keyword that had 3000. Why? Because the top 20 books in that 3000 keyword were heavy hitters that were truly a fit for that phrase. There are a lot of self publishing educators or teachers out there that will say that number of competitors is a key factor. However, that's because its initially makes sense and its easy for them to point to - so its easy to teach. But with the computing power of Rocket and all those factors, users have more at their finger tips and can get to the good stuff...hence the green, yellow red system.

    Hmm, ya, "long tail" (niche) versus "short tail" (broad) searches ... when someone types in a long-tail/niche search, they know what they want. They're specific. Fewer searches because those people know exactly what they want; whereas, short-tail searches are, just as he says, are people trying to figure out what they want. ;-)

    Hi, great informative video. I have a question though, eventhough I use Publisher Rocket... Would this apply to the keywords used in title and subtitle only? Why I ask, is because I thought for the backend keywords, Amazon makes the combination of the seperate words if needed. So these more niched down words would anyway already be part of your backend keywords (I think) which would mean this doesn't apply to them. Right?

  • @Kindlepreneur

    @Kindlepreneur

    Thanks and glad you like it. As for the keywords, nope - definitely useful for the 7 keywords. The reason for that is that it is very important for authors to not just put something broad in there. Instead having a niche statement will provide more. And with Amazon rearranging the words, that's an extra benefit.

    Hi. To begin with, I'd like to say that I really appreciate your channel and think it's great. :D I am writing this comment with the hope of getting an answer to my question about keywords. 1. If the order of the keywords in the boxes (and in the title) does not matter, then what is the reason that when I enter "halloween activities" in the Amazon search engine, it shows 20k results, while when I enter "activities halloween" it shows 50k? 2. Why, for example, when I enter "halloween notebook" in the first three pages of the search, it shows me 4k results, while from the third-fourth page it increases to 60k? 3. There are around 50 products on each amazon search page. This means that 60 such pages would be needed to show results for 3k searches (for 20k it would be 400 pages). Meanwhile, when a niche with a size of 3k pops up, there are about 7 of these pages (which means about 350 results). For a 20k niche, about 70 pages pops up (that's about 3,500 results). Why is amazon showing so few results and where is the rest that is missing? It would be great if I could explain it here. If not, I hope that I provided ideas for new videos;). I have looked through a lot of videos on the channel (not all of them yet) and I have not been able to find answers to the above questions ;P. Best wishes
