    John - you're often remarking on how large these horses are - have you seen the New York City Mounted Parks Enforcement Patrol Officers & their horses?? They're truly huge & dwarf their riders - possibly Clydesdales or something - the ones with fluffy ankles lol! 😀😀

    An army horse is technically a vehicle. Can you imagine trying to take charge of a military vehicle while the driver is there? I consider these twits lucky not to be poked by that long sharp thing.

    It’s more than disrespectful - it’s assuming control of the horse. The reins are the connection between the horse and the rider - interrupting that communication is as stupid as grabbing the steering wheel of someone else’s car. It’s confusing for the horse because grabbing the reins interrupts the signals and cues from the rider’s hands to the horse’s mouth that it’s been trained to expect.

    If an expert and champion like Princess Anne can get injured, these tourists need to start using their common sense (not too many seem to have any!). They don't read signs either.....and their language skills are selective, seeing that they travel through Airports, Border control and other areas displaying signs in the English language! Don't get me started on their manners......how many acknowledge the guards in military uniform with their beautifully groomed horses......a thank you in any language would be appreciated!

    I would be so frustrated if I were a horse guard. Tourists are so clueless about manners and how to behave around horses. I have been a tourist in London several times and will not attend these functions. Thanks for filming.

    The reaction of a number of the tourists was delightful today. Especially the lady in cream who you thought would run away. She had a great smile. The little boy with the giggles was charming and the people you talked to from Canada and the USA were polite. I’m a little sad that attendance is increasing to the degree it is. How can you really absorb the atmosphere when you are distracted by so many people pushing at you? I live in a village of 925 people not used to being surrounded by that many humans.

    Omg that utterly oblivious chick on the phone!!! She deserved a good yelling at!!! People say it’s rude of the troopers to yell at the tourists…..”I” say it’s far ruder still to wander about a workplace in lalaland, on your phone, utterly ignoring EVERYthing around you and getting in the bloody WAY, and then, not even acknowledging her faux pas(yes I DID have another term in there but I didn’t want my comment censored by YT 🤷🤣)!!! My gods talk about entitled!! She’s gonna have fun with London traffic😅 I canNOT comprehend the tourists with this gates(wo)man. She IS smaller, so I think she NEEDS to yell. She shouldn’t HAVE to, but it is what it is. They’re simply not paying attention to her……she needs to establish authority and her RIGHT of WAY. SHE is MEANT to be there, THEY are there on sufferance and they need to understand that. Verbious is a cutie, even if he’s not Tristan, I love his facial markings with the little black spot on his white chin HOWEVER……..all my ranting about tourists notwithstanding……the Canadian chap you spoke to was utterly lovely, as were the American couple you were chatting with. SOME tourists are delightful, and really appreciate what they’re seeing…..it’s a shame they’re let down by a lot of their compatriots 😟 but hearing the interactions with them made me smile(yes I DO sometimes…..it hurts but I do🤣🥶🤣)

    If the tourists want to engage a uniformed expert in conversation then they need to nip along to The Tower, where the yeomen and women are more than happy to answer all their questions - no matter how dumb - for a mere £34.80. A trooper on guard duty isn’t there for a cosy little chit chat. Would they expect a Marine guarding the White House to be distracted by inane questions. Or would start asking any of the troops guarding the royal palaces of Spain, Sweden, the Netherlands or Denmark questions. Would they approach the Swiss Guard in the Vatican City to ask how long he’s on duty for? Our troops deserve as much respect as they’d give to their own serving military. Wearing ceremonial uniform rather than their usual battle dress uniforms doesn’t mean they’re not on duty military personnel. Are you sure it was only 17 Tesco meal deals?

    I believe if it's a once in a lifetime opportunity, I would love to stand next to the Kings Horse Life Guard for a photo to keep and show my friends and family. But, some people seem to be missing some common sense brain cells and become public nuisance. So, with that large group, where should they go. Everyone else seems to be doing the same thing. I think that tourists should be warned well before the event where to stand and apparently how to conduct themselves. Most of these people have probably never seen a live horse in their lives. They would have no idea as to the dangers that are possible here.

  • @kathellison8084

    @kathellison8084

    I think that's a huge part of the problem , most will only have seen a horse on tv , films or on the pages of a book . To actually see one and have the opportunity to stand next to and touch one is maybe a once in a lifetime experience , so I can understand their excitement . Unfortunately in some cases the excitement goes over the top resulting in them putting themselves in possible danger and annoying the horse and Trooper . Those with good tour guides are given information and directions , those on their own do their own thing whether right or wrong !

  • @paulinemegson8519

    @paulinemegson8519

    I do get that. But seriously, how many brain cells does one need to be able to comprehend that a large animal is something to be careful of. I mean it’s like the famous Yellowstone tourons that approach bison for pictures. I’ve never seen a bison in person(have seen a wisent but that’s bye the bye)but I can tell you RIGHT now in as sure as heck not gonna approach one “in the wild” cos that would be utterly moronic. I mean, it’s not rocket science.🤷😂

    The tourists are annoying. I would like to see the horse guards with no crowds or people for that matter. I don't understand wanting to get a photo with them..... it's so touristy.....

    People want a memory of seeing such a sight. I do understand that. What I DONT understand is the NEED to be IN the bloody picture themselves. It’s almost like they’ll forget that they were there if they’re not in the picture!!?? In any case, if they’d just take the picture and move along there’d be no issue. The issue comes with needing the picture whilst being practically on top of the horse(or his rider) particularly if one is terrified of horses and it as much as looking at one will trigger a full squealing flight response(or if you happen to be one of those morons who thinks such behaviour is “cute” and “girly”….it’s not, it’s stupid and dangerous around a large animal.) Or being one of those self appointed “influencers” who primp and preen and spend 20 minutes contorting into a supposedly “sexy” pose, which usually looks not only very UNsexy, but actively uncomfortable and utterly ridiculous….one recent woman looked kinda like a cross between a baboon and a mounted fish, what with the “trout pout” that for some reason they all seem to think looks GOOD🙄(I beg to differ), and the desperate thrusting of her over endowed arse end into the horses face. Not entirely sure why unless she has a fetish for being bitten on the butt….I’m awaiting the first arse bite with bated breath I’ll be honest, 🤣 The worst part of the self absorbed “influencer” types(and let’s be honest, the only influence most of them have is over what ridiculous froufrou “semi coffee” drink they’ll be seen with) tho, is that instead of the picture being of the gorgeous pageantry in front of them, it’s just of THEM….everything else is reduced to a prop. They might as well do it with photoshop for all of the engagement with their surroundings(which is nil)which would save congestion and lower the blood pressure of both the horses, AND the troopers several points.

    Why does only one horse get the slap on dismounting.?

  • @kathellison8084

    @kathellison8084

    Ай бұрын

    The slap on the saddle indicates the rider is dismounting so there's a change of weight , the first Trooper walks the horse forward and the slap is heard by the other horse . They are trained this way .

    Some people are just plain rude. Sometimes they will come up to people walking a dog and grab the leash to pet the dog. Fortunately has never happened to me. I love my dog Toad. But people are scared of him so they tend to give us a wide birth. To be honest we like it best that way. Beautiful day and I enjoyed meeting the 2 couples who stopped to say thank you.

    Unfortunately John explained this dilemma. England needs the money generated by tourism in their economy. So if having their guards suffer this daily bombardment it's going to be tolerated.

    They don’t need to touch the horses or guards to get a photo. They don’t pay to stand there and treat our soldiers with no respect.
