What people need to understand is when one is in a sport, any sport, they must be prepared to pay a price. Some pay the ultimate price. Any form of auto racing or motorcycle racing is very very dangerous. For those in the stands, its easy. You show up and watch your favorite drivers and the colors, the pageantry and the noise and speed. But for the drivers, like Brittney Force, its all in a days work being a top fuel professional driver. Accidents happen. Remember when Shirley Muldowny's blower blew up and caused a serious fire. She came back to not only make a run, but to take NHRA by storm. Ask her about her accident. She'll tell you that it happened and I moved on. Sure I was scared, but that's my business. Stuff happens and when it does, there really isn't anything you can do about it considering the speeds, the type fuel and the physics. You just hang on. Brittney's accident was horrible too watch, but she hung on and rode it out. Nothing else she could do. Of course it always appears way worse for the fans. Remember Dale Earnhardt's accident? No one would've ever thought he was killed instantly in what many described as a routine type accident, but he did. Left us way too soon. NHRA rules and safety regs are designed too offer as much protection for the drivers, crews, track personnel and fans as possible. But nitro burning funny cars at 10,000hp is not routine. Anything can happen. Brittney Force is the total professional. She has the right stuff. She is every bit her father and mother. I love watching her race, win or lose. She is amazing as are her sisters, Courtney and Ashley. The whole Force family is exactly what are country is all about. God bless them all. Keep them safe. KB
