    That little cabin on the boat is called a wheel house. It’s just an enclosure with the steering wheel and maybe some navigation equipment or a map and a light, etc.

    Yup. But the issue is he's teaching people how to paint in 30 minutes or less....so he's not being accurate with scale and perspective, hence the reactors' confusion. But if see paintings of his he did on his own clock, he knows how to handle scale/perspective very well.

    I believe the small structure on the boat would be like a very small cabin . About the size of a small outhouse. The structure is seen on many very old fishing boats . It has only three sides, and no back, so that the fisherman can simply walk into it where the steering wheel is to operate the rudder without getting too wet in rough seas or rain. Just enough room to stand in. This is a good example of his abstract mind, but this is not one of the best examples of his amazing abilities. go watch one with mountains and log cabins in it . I began painting because of Bob Ross who always tells his audience that "You can do this too". I believed him , and now I paint on canvas with acrylics , not oil paints as he does. Thanks Bob for giving me the Joy of painting, RIP . You are truly a legend.

    I still remember the first time I saw this episode and the boat did seem a bit out of scale. Bob Ross never did a lot of boats so it was more of a basic pattern. Since he is mainly a landscape painters he is much more proficient in landscape work. You might want to have Adian watch another episode as well just so he has a better grasp on the techniques. The most important item with the Ross technique is to make sure the canvas is covered with a thin coat of liquid white as that is the secret to blending the paints on the canvas. Regardless though his voice is soothing that you can just mellow out to watching an episode. Looking forward to the paint off.

    The scale of the boat looked weird, I originally thought it was a little canoe until I realized that the buildings were bigger than I thought they were. The doors are like large garage doors.

  • @VelkanAngels

    @VelkanAngels

    It's not just the buildings but the pier/boat bridge (idk what to call it in English). We see how low it is to the water from where the pillars turn into reflection in the water and the boat is the same height as the pier. That part threw my brain for a loop.

  • @RevPeterTrabaris
    @RevPeterTrabaris27 күн бұрын

    First, I am so glad that Aidan was finally introduced to Mr. Ross. Second, I am right there with you regarding that boat, it needed to be bigger for what he wanted, in my opinion. The other thing that bothered me in this one is the door right above the boat. It looks like the door is floating far too above the walk way to be useful. Now, you can paint, and better than you think if your follow his wet on wet technique. I felt just like you, Aidan, until one day I tried it. I painted for a while for myself years ago. I am just getting started again. My art, so far isn't even as finished looking as this painting. But it falls into the genre of Folk Art. It appears that there is quite a market for Folk Art. I did a digital "painting" last evening and shared it with a friend of mine who knows art, and she thought it was very good. Look, your first painting will never be as good as your final painting, but, trust the method and you will be happily amazed if you persist. Peace

    Bob Ross was a true American original. He had an enormous talent and skill as well as physical attributes, such as his sonorous baritone voice which drew you in, made you understand and could put you to sleep if you weren't careful. In his lifetime he produced around 30,000 landscape paintings most of which are not for sale to the general public. Above all he was a great teacher of art and the wet-on-wet process that he used to produce it. In his career we were lucky that he lived in a time where the public could enjoy him as an artist and as a person. And the best news is that you and future generations still can.

    You know what’s interesting? And in my opinion even more impressive than Bobs painting? The fact that his high quality brushes are made with animal hair. Specifically mink, hog, horse and pony, and rabbit. No other man made material can substitute animal hair for fine art brushes. And if you think about it….there is nothing in nature that a good painter cannot create with a good brush and paints. I find it mind blowing that everything in nature can be created with the hair from the animals who live in that nature.

    Tip: if you decide to paint along with Bob, do NOT buy the Bob Ross branded paint supplies. His family does not own the brand, and the people that do, never cared about him or his well being. He was a cash cow to them. As he was lying in his bed dying, they would treat him very badly, and they forged documents and falsified his signature to gain ownership of his brand (which was his name). There's a documentary about it that came out in 2021: "Bob Ross: Happy Accidents, Betrayal & Greed." It's worth a watch before you start buying supplies.

    Yeah, he's not the best with buildings or close-up detail work. He'd have been better served going straight across for the boards and his buildings were all leaning quite a bit. It's fine for a small house or something in the middle of a painting but not one taking up a third of the canvas. A lot of painting is giving the illusion of detail, but the closer something is to the observer the more actual detail you need to show.

    Of course he pronounces the "h" in white. Most Americans do. Otherwise it would be wite, or wen for when, or were for where, or wy for why. I've heard a lot of Brits pronounce where as whur like her but definitely with the wh sound, h definitely audible. That is also how it's pronounced in parts of the South. Coincidentally, also in parts of the South, they do actually say wite for white though, at least the part I'm originally from, in Appalachia.

    "Most Americans do." ... no we don't. The H is usually silent in words like "white," not emphasized, and it certainly doesn't sound like it comes before the W, which is how he often says it and why it's one of his mannerisms that people meme.
