😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.
So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.
Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.
We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

Hi everyone A number of you have asked how you can watch the videos in order. On our channel's home page if you select the video tab you can then sort by oldest, newest or most popular. We have also created playlists to help you watch the videos you want. There are playlists by country, series (such as Backpacking Central America). We have also grouped all the food videos together and have one called watch from the beginning where they are all in order - hope that helps those of you wanting to watch more - have a fabulous week xx

LOL the iron gate to our ranch has "We don't call 911" on it. Welcome to Texas! There's a common saying in TX- "if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute"!

Just to let you know, with regard to the "Bat Houses"... most of the Hill Country of Texas is covered in limestone caves, that house thousands of bats. At certain times of the year the local weatherman can actually track them on radar. The largest cave in Texas is Natural Bridge Caverns north of Garden Ridge, TX, Longhorn Caverns south of Burnett, TX off HWY-281, and InnerSpace just north of Austin on I-35. Great to see you got off the Interstate, to take in the local color of the "True Texas"!

I commented on your San Antonio video and now in this video you’re in the Hill Country where I live! The Caverns would have been perfect way to spend a hot day in a VERY naturally cool and beautiful cave system. You picked some very fun places to visit, and there’s so many more. I know you are on your way elsewhere…be safe and enjoy.

The reason for the camels is becausethe US Army used to have a camel corps for trekking materiel across the harsh West Texas desert all the way to the West coast. They were found to be much more effective than cows with wagons and were used surprisingly a lot in the days before the automobile ! LOL I think they were imported from Arabia in the 1800's

Love it. I think I told you about how, in Idaho, they’d pay us $5 per rattlesnake skin. My adventures on horses way in the back country looking for snakes. My friend nearly killing himself. I was 10! Think about that???? I rode a horse, fully loaded with guns… finding my life. I remember fishing poles…. Campfires and feeling like a king. When they say, “They don’t makem like they used to,” it’s true.

Yes, there were camels in Texas -they were stationed in Camp Verde, in central Texas, where the Army used them as beasts of burden on short supply trips to San Antonio. I have been there and also, lots to do in that whole area.

I know its out of the way, but the Rio Grande Valley, the southernmost tip of Texas is a treat. The Valley has incredible, authentic Mexican food and the area is pretty homogeneously bilingual with Spanish. The South Padre Island is the beach everyone goes to for spring break and it is one of the nicest Gulf Coast beaches. Maybe some travel guides would say its high in crime, but it's completely overblown and a very very unique area of the US. Hands down the closest you can get to Mexico, both figuratively and literally!

Loving the USA videos. I have some questions: 1) Do you ask permission before filming inside shops/places of interest and how do you get staff to talk on camera? 2) How do you film without being self-conscious of people around you giving you weird looks or something? I filmed for a Vlog today and was so self-conscious. I want to be confidant like you guys.

You need to shoot while you are here! It’s a TEXAS thing. You can ask anyone where you can do it. It’s worth trying if you’ve never shot a gun. Most new people are surprised at how much they enjoy It. It’s nothing to be afraid of. Try it, there are shooting ranges everywhere!

You missed some fabulous spots like the Blue Bell Creamery, Luckenbach, Enchanted Rock, Fredericksburg and many more! The World War II museum in Fredericksburg is second to NONE. Takes 2 days to see it all.

Yep - it is really tricky for us to show it all (Trudy only has permission to be in Canada and USA for one year) so we will share as much as we can - but having a fabulous road trip 🌺
