ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it's true. So what's motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn't an easy time but I won't let fear dictate my life. I didn't think 'why me', there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it's not always smooth sailing. It's true when you hear, 'Life is short', the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It's so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.
Subscribe to Rebecca Vocal Athlete to get inspired by new videos!
Have a great day!!

Britney speaks differently when she is blond and brunette. She switches from a little girl to a woman and when she has darker hair, her voice is so natural. Poor girl. I am so pissed. They ripped her apart, took her voice, took her children, and even prohibit spending her own money she tearfully earned. If she is alive in the next year or two, she would be the strongest woman in show biz. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

I agree with the comment section that (regarding her voice) the industry destroyed her, but she wasn't some mindless label puppet either. She cowrote a lot of her songs, got into producing, made the concepts for her own music videos, composed some songs, choreographed some of her routines etc. Yes, she's been influenced by her team a lot in the beginning (especially with her voice), but she's still an artist

  • @hazelangus

This is why I think Britney is one of the most underrated voices of the last 20 years. However there are also a few more recent songs, like Perfume, Alien or He About To Lose Me (2011-2013), in which she uses her natural voice.

I believe Perfume was sung by her entirely, however Alien was not. Mya Marie sang the chorus (“not alone, not alone, not alone”) and “take me home”. Ina Wroldsen sang the chorus in He About To Lose Me, or at least, maybe Britney’s voice was mixed in somewhere but you can hardly hear it unfortunately. She did sing the verses in Alien and He About To Lose me.

My former sister in law used to go to the same church as Brittany and her parents in Kentwood, Louisiana. The industry has not been kind to her and she has attempted to keep her private life out of the tabloids, but, they have hounded her for years. It is refreshing to see your heart being revealed and compassion for her challenges she's experienced. Being from Louisiana myself, she is considered a treasure for our state and know she is really a good, kind person. Your assessment of different artists and their talent is quite impressive, and look forward to many more. I have a question, how do you decide what artist to listen and react to?

She had a beautiful deep voice and she had light brown hair, she was growing into herself and her voice but when the industry started noticing her they took everything away from her, changed her look, and tried to make her unique. In reality it just took everything away from her, her voice, her children, her career and to this day people are still trying to get the REAL Britney back, I wonder as well if she can still sing like she used to because she’s so used to people telling her who to be. They do this to every child star, I hate the music industry.

It's definitely true, her mother wrote a book and said that they destroyed Britney's voice. She was signed when she was just 15 and came from humble beginnings, so I don't think she had much of a choice but to do what they wanted her to do. She was actually signed singing Whitney Houston (!!!) for executives of her future label. They portrayed a image and wanted her to fill in it, and it worked for a few years, but she lost herself along the way, and she still is trying to take control of her own life to this day. Also, it's the main reason why she's known for lip synching, she can't sing in that baby voice anymore, and definitely can't hold on a 2hrs concert singing live. It's really sad what happened to her... I hope she get the freedom she deserves and is fighting for.

Her music never was my style but she definitely had great talent. It's such a shame what happened to her. I suppose you heard of the recent headline where she unfortunately lost her lawsuit to have conservatorship taken away from her father and given to a proper professional. That's crazy, nearly 40 years old and treated essentially as a child in the eyes of the courts. I truly hope that she can eventually get better and regain control of her own life. She deserves to be happy after everything that she's gone through.

Would love to see you react to something by Live, preferably from The Distance to Here. Ed Kowalczyk has a pretty interesting voice and style. The Dolphins Cry, The Distance, Feel the Quite River Rage...all good ones to react to I think.

Manipulated, chewed up & spat out by the music business thats ran by people that don't care what the artists want to do only what they want you to do in order to make money off. The younger the artist is they don't give enough protection of their asset when the pressure of fame becomes too much.

Can you do a review on Ava Max? I am really digging her tone. I feel like she’s a mix of Lady Gaga and Dua Lipa sound but would really like to see you do a review on one of her songs. Her hit right now is Kings and Queens but she has so many more awesome songs that showcase her vocal range such as OMG What’s Happening, Torn etc. I find her very vocally appealing and she has a fun personality that will have you laughing in her videos. Also I believe she co-writes a lot of her songs and her lyrics are really clever.

when you are not true to yourself (due to others around you telling you how you must be) and you become emotionally fragile (through the ugly journey of the music industry) the first thing to fade is command of your voice...the throat chakra is all about speaking your truth...sadly the young girl who truly did have a voice at one point, (that might have developed into something special) has been controlled and manipulated and become emotionally wounded and the result is sad.... Well done Rebecca for sharing this with such compassion

She has a lot of chest belting and deep vocals in Glory. It was a mix between “both Britneys” It made me really happy, because the deteriorated voice of Britney was something that always bothered me. Today she still tends to sing in a higher pitch but she ca belt the hell out of her chest.

That studio song that had the Baby one more time cover was a demo that didn't actually make it to the album. In the Baby One More Time album, you can hear the contrast between her natural voice and the baby voice, it is sad because she believed what she was told that she needed to have a signature sound to "make it", but it was not natural and it was unhealthy.

The way young performers are "managed" usually makes me sad. Especially when greedy and selfish parents are involved. I hope Britney is healthy and safe. As for you, Rebecca, sending hugs back to you - so glad you're feeling better! 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗❤️
