Fantastic rare colour footage that took me back to the 1960's as a kid, we us use buy a 5/- Blue rover on the underground and 'Bunk' all the sheds around London. Us kids had so much fun in those happy days. And I have still got all my Ian Allen spotters books up in the loft. Thanks for uploading.

I'm 29 years of age and with I could of been around to see all this. I live in a small town in Lancashire and it shocks me how full of life the area used to be with steam trains when I find pictures. Thing is not many people even know that we had all this.

Willesden MPD was train spotter friendly as were many depots. Stewarts Lane and Stratford would call the police on us poor spotters. I only found out when living in London that Bonded warehousing was adjacent to both Stratford and Stewarts Lane hence police security.

Look at the state of these dirty polluting locos. They're ready for the cutting torches and to be melted for scrap!

Spent many Sunday afternoons bunking Willesden shed, really smokey and dirty..lovely stuff. Also bunked Old Oak Common across the road and Neasden and Cricklewood all on the same afternoon. In the morning it was Southall and Feltham.

Brought back a lot of memories. I always went into Willesden via the back entrance as the shed foreman could be a bit rowdy. Nine Elms was great and I can remember one of my last visits there, one of the locomotive crew gave me a bacon sandwich. Bacon fresh from the shovel!!!

Used to go Willesden and Old Oak on Sunday's in the early 60's........fantastic memories. The list of locos I have is amazing. Then when they closed it was Nine Elms. I always wished I lived in the flats behind the turntable !

Great footage of Willesden.I snuck into the shed with my brother just after it had closed in 1965.Just a couple of 78xxx standards and a jinty awaiting towing away for scrap was all that was left.

although willesden closed to steam in sept 65 the last batch of steam locos stored there were not towed away until Jan 66. the last batch went to Cashmores.

l lived in Eltham in the 60s. Nine Elms, Stewarts Lane, Feltham, Southall, Old Oak, Willsden, Neasden,,Cricklewood, Kentish Town, Camden, Finsbury Park, Stratford , Bow Road and Hither Green if time was the regular intenary. Could never access the first two as security was always tight. Man6y of the BR preserved locos were stored in a shed on their own at Stratford. Entry to Old Oak via the broken fence on the canal, but invariably sought permission rarely refused except at NE & SL. Old Oak and Willsden are both extremely nostalagic

I think the diesel shunter is moving locos at Banbury. Can recall visiting Willesden in November 64 - missed out on the Stanier Pacifics but several Brits and a very clean West Country 34100 Appledore were on shed.

Tim Knght. Used to visit Willesden on regular basis in late 50s dirty murky old place, Old Oak was more interesting but harder to get into (and stay in there). Great memories.

In 1964 I, along with my mate Tom saw Sir William A. Stanier, FRS, and The City of Liverpool, on the canal sidings. They were waiting along with rows, and rows of locos awaiting the torch, my Dad was with the Road Motor Engineers, at A1. The strange thing was both, Princess Coronations, had the yellow diagonal, no south of Crewe markings......

There were several other routes they could have worked in by.. so it wasn't out of the question to see striped locomotives south of Crewe.
