Only just found this. Thanks for taking the time to concentrate on the 24, one of the cutest locos. And, it and the 25's sound great also.

She didn't look that good when it was working around Shrewsbury. In the early eighties I remember my dad driving this 'Rat' quite regularly. I bet he like me , never thought she she would be preserved. Well done to the Fitters that returned her to this brilliant condition. 👍

My English friend tells me that the loco D50XX class and the rear loco D65XX class ran on the Southern region often double headed as the D65XX did not have steam heating.

It was for only a short period of time (1 year/18 months?) when the 33s were introduced while they waited for sufficient ETH coaching stock.

my husband loves this stuff - why is there the 2nd locomotive at the end of the train

Probably to save them having to run the locomotive around the train at the end of the line.
