@@cherry-nw1sl Yes. He auditioned for the vocal position of the Navy Military Band last January and passed it. He choose the Navy bc not a lot of people goes there since it's very tough but it also means that the process is faster and he wanted to enlist early so that he can go out early as well. He's the first Kpop idol to enter the Navy Military Band. Second to enter the Korean Navy (The first one is a member of Day6). Minho from SHINee was on the Marine Corps which is another branch of the Navy or smtg like that but not the same as Taeyong.

OH WOW THEY'RE COMMITTED... they even got their hair cut for it. that military training is intense wow...

korean military training is. some korean show sometimes show glimpses. i swear they are crazy for their military training saw some "gas chamber" sh*t where they had to stay for really long but so many already felt like vomiting and fainting.

The amount of legistics and clearance Josh, Ollie, and the rest of the Korean Englishman crew had to have gone through to be able to film and train on an actual Korean Military base blows my mind. One minute I'm watching Josh introducing Korean food to athletes then the next thing they're training for combat. Bravo.

@@Draven- I agree. Two or three years of mandatory service after high school. Kids that don’t take education seriously would get a wake up call during military service. Everyone would be trained to properly defend themselves as well via arms training. We would probably have less mass shootings and more responsible individuals in society.

Served 2 years after 10 months of training and I think it's a great thing to go through tbh. Going through such an uncomfortable environment as a man, woman or whatever you are, really opens your eyes to the horrible nature of life itself and it can either break you or shape you as an individual

Not sure what it was like in the UK but a lot of the general public in America are aware of required military service in Korea. When BTS announced their hiatus to enlist, it was all over the news. The media here didn't know about that until then.

@@ym10up I agree, it's their lives. It's up to them whether they will pursue the KZread stardom or settle with a 9 to 5 job. What I'm saying is that they will be in a privileged position whichever path they decide to take. This is not the ordinary training, this UDT, one of the renowned special forces in South Korea. How KE pulled this one off, I struggle to fathom since training methods of special forces is a matter of national secrecy. I'm saying this as someone who served 16 years in the Australian military.

CANNOT WAIT! Probably the best series on KZread! Great to see all the boys back on screen, and Max is just delightful!

yup..its harvey. he likes saying 'fighting'. he was saying it a couple of times during the korean highschool episode

I genuinely just teared up, there is something so incredible about watching these boys grow up. The fact that they are open to learning, experiencing, and challenging themselves--beyond simply enjoying the 'tourist' attractions wow. I hope they can look back on these memories very fondly.

I don't know what to say, this absolutely crazy and epic. This for sure will change their lives and how they see life. And to think Korean boys have chance to go through this is commendable. I know it isn't easy, however I know it prepares them for life ahead because honestly life is tough. Kuddos to the young men because they aren't boys after this and thank you for being such brave human beings. Fighting!!

As a Korean who's finished the mandatory military service, I have to say massive kudos to both the team and the boys (now men!) for preparing/participating in such a project and experience that is so closely linked to the normal experience of a Korean. Not only just the Korean men who do their compulsory military service, but also the women who decided to serve as one of Korea's proud soldiers! I can already tell from the teasers that everyone went through some legit military experiences and I hope they were able to take away valuable things, despite of how hard and stressful it must have been while they were at it. Hats off to everybody and again, thank you so much for spotlighting an experience that is normally difficult for anyone who is not Korean to understand.

How lovely. 😊 I am from the US and I wish we had mandatory service for our boys as well. My son was a soldier, he enlisted after his first year of university. It helped shape him into a fine young man. I also had many family members who were in different branches of the military as was my husband. So, I think that is why my son decided to also enlist. It is definitely an experience that teaches young people a lot in a small amount of time…things they just don’t learn in the same amount of time without the military experience. I am sure that the English Boys will also gain some excellent knowledge and experience from this trip to Korea.

@@MrxxVENUSxx You can’t compare the US military to the Korean military. Of all my friends and family who have enlisted in the military not one of them would even think to compare it to Korea. My son was actually deployed to the DMZ and he said it was the worst experience of his life. Basic training was like going to Disneyland compared to being there.

That army preview made me tear up. The fact that their parents and they all accepted to go through the military experience is absolutely incredible. It really is heartbreaking to see them all go through all that hardship even for a short time and even more heartbreaking to know that Korean men go through that for more than a year. Hope there wasn't any lasting physical damage to anyone and only mental and emotional growth from this experience.

Omg. I can't believe this. I always laugh when I see the parents worried about their children who go for national service but this? British uni students. Bring it on! I don't know why I am cackling when I thought I was crazy when I was young, female and being a officer cadet. You definitely need to be young to endure those things. Deja vu boy. Deja vu. Love it. Can't believe the KE managed to get permission for this though.

Max was kind not wanting to indulge in the topic of just him and Armand getting to return to korea without their other school mates. He went straight back into talking about their experiences when they first went there with the other boys. I love how kind these boys are. ❤

​@@kikilala9371 This is way different from what they did with the twins. The twins only did it for one day and most of it was just having fun and getting to know the soldiers. This one is the real deal. Their whole trip is based of going through what the Korean military does.

Korean tv does something similar every year, where they send a bunch of kpop performers and actors(male and female) on basic training. Check out "the real men" series

Dude, this are the people that acknowledges by The King himself. At this level, I wouldn't surprised again if Josh and Ollie are considered as South Korea-England ambassador.

This is absolutely mind-blowing, isn't it? I feel a bit sorry for these British lads going through Korea's intense military training. But I reckon, over time, it'll turn out to be one of the best and most rewarding experiences of their lives.
