I was at their first show in Moscow. It was just amazing! One of the best concerts of my whole life. Their performance was perfect, their energy is incomparable! For me, the band's music is especially valuable because I am Tatar. My people are related to the Turkic peoples of Siberia. It is important for me to hear the voices of other indigenous people of Russia and to know that we still have hope for a bright future. When I was at their concert, I first heard the song "Paradise Lost". I burst into tears and couldn 't stop crying for a while . Such a beautiful and sad song about the fate of indigenous peoples.

Their neighbours & relatives are selkup, hakas, dolgan and tyva peoples, their population is somewhat bigger - thousands or tens of thousands members. More east to siberia - there are yakut/sakha people, population 500 000, and they are also turkic people.

Hi Luke. Thanks for introducing this band to me. I’m Turkish and I can understand some parts of this song since they are Turkic people from Siberia. They speak a different dialect of the same language family. The music is also very cultural(instruments, throat singing etc) harmonised with modern music which is very interesting and fresh. If you liked the style, you can try Mongolian band The Hu. They are kinda similar to Otyken in their own way, closer to rock music. Wolf Totem can be a good introduction song I think ;) Btw Otyken(in Turkish Ötüken) is the name of legendary location where Turkic people come from, the birth place of first Turkic states, something like that. It’s somewhere between modern Russia and Mongolia as I remember.

This band songs will go number 1 in charts around the world if given a chance. They are actually reviving many things at one time. Tibetan Buddhist chant and thus it's religion for one. Their language is indangered and the music is keeping it alive . They radiate both Tibetan Buddhism and Japanese Buddhist chanting sometimes simultaneously which is amazing. They hit both Indian notes , American Indian and Guandi's India to the south of Siberia. And as a topper we hear hints of Islam throughout.

He traveled around Tatarstan, recording the sounds of folk instruments, and then used them to create this album. The combination of folk motifs and modern music is just perfect. I highly recommend watching the story about the recording of the album and listening to the album. Songs in English by the way

I recommend listening to the music of the band Hagrin. This is a group from Kalmykia. I was at their concert, and it's just amazing! It was like coming to an ethno-rave.HAGRIN is a performance that combines folklore, ethnic motifs and the looseness of electronic trends. Unfortunately, they haven't released their first album yet, but there are several recordings from their live performances. My favorite songs are "Весёлые Воины"(Funny Warriors) and "Чёрные быки войны" (Black Bulls of War). Their songs are based on the history and mythology of Kalmykia. For example, the song Весёлые Воины is based on the legend that warriors after death do not go to heaven or hell, but go to their friends who are sitting around the campfire. Warriors remember the victories and joys of their lives, play musical instruments, dance and sing.

Love this group! Definitely react to "Storm" (epic) and "Genesis". I love how they left the blooper in in Genesis. Lol Another group I hope you can react to is The Hu (pronounced like who). They are a Mongolian folk metal band who use traditional Mongolian instrumentation. They call their style Hunnu Rock inspired by the Hunnu, an ancient Mongol/Turkic empire. So many good songs but I would recommend Wolf Totem to start with. There's the original version and the one featuring Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach. I love that version, but is probably best to see original first. I think you will love The Hu! Another good choice for them is " Yuve Yuve Yu". So good!

Have you listened to Mongolian music particularly the throat music they can throw two notes of very different tones at the same time mind blowing and very lixtenable.

Great reaction as usual. I was introduced to this band through another reactor that is really int metal and of course Lovebites and they are great. I just had to listen to everything they have on their channel and luckily they created a playlist of the songs to make it so much easier. I see that others have suggested Storm as the next one which is what I was going to do but I just saw they released a new song called Phenomenon which is a bit slower but it really highlights the singers voice and their homeland scenery in winter kzread.info/dash/bejne/oHhlyJOCkdGWm6Q.html

Very basic lyrics, but it's all really well assembled. If I had to venture a guess, the lyrics are something from a traditional tribal thing. They seem very talented and capable of more complex lyrics but the style makes me think they're doing traditional tribal music with a modern twist. Regardless. Cool shit. I like it. Also, my guy, you've got a MASSIVE back log of Upchurch music to get to.
