I remember that scouts and managers thought Ovi wouldn't last long in the league when he threw his weight around like this every game (as a goal scorer) but here we are, age 37 and on the verge of breaking the scoring record. Also, fun fact: The first goal on his "electric goals" is called "The Goal" and he actually scored it with 1 hand on his back. He was versus the Coyotes which at the time were coached by none other than the great one, Wayne Gretzky. Who holds the goal scoring record. Wayne said he wants to see Ovi beat his record, as well.
Those one timers he takes are his signature move. So much so that the left circle where he always takes them from is referred to as his 'office' lol
Ovechkin is currently chasing the all time goal scoring record. He has 812 and needs 894. Currently 82 away which is still a few more years of work but crazy that someone even has a chance to break what was always thought of as an unbreakable record

@@mr_mohasky playoff goals don't count for that record. It's strictly a regular season record. If you factor in all of Gretzky's playoff goals as well, he eclipses 1100 in total.
I can't believe I got to witness Ovechkin from the time he first got into the league, to now, and to hopefully him breaking the NHL goal record of all time.
ovechkin just so happens to be the #2 goal scorer in nhl history, also one of the most likeable & enthusiastic players in the game. he's a beast!

@@trw1782it only ruined him for the stupid brainless people. Most of us are able to separate the person from sports figure. Besides Russia didn't start this war and the dude in the Ukraine is just as bad. You sound like one of the stupid people.
Ovechkin typifies the 'power forward' style of play. A rare combination of goal scoring and physicality.
His patented "One Timer". 2nd in all time goal scoring right now and closing in on #1... No player demonstrates the "Power Forward" in todays NHL better than him. He is more likely to go through a player than around him. Well done from Canada. Hockey For Life!!!
Dude's closing in on 830 regular season goals. Gretzky's record is 894. It's one of those marks that for a long time seemed like no one would ever reach, even more so since it's a lot harder to score today than it was in the 80's and 90's. Ovechkin has one of the best, heaviest, quickest, hardest shots the game has ever seen. Put that together with his power, technique and burning desire to score and, well... Entering the previous season, some guys were wondering if he was slowing down and raising doubts about his chances to surpass Gretzky's 894, but instead, he was scoring at the highest pace of his career early on last season! :D Random bs not withstanding, he should crack 894 within the next two seasons. It will be glorious! Also, one overlooked/underappreciated goal he scored is his 63rd from his highest scoring year (2008) against Carolina... That's one of my favorite goals of all time, especially coupled with the Carolina players' reactions to the goal. And you should check out Pavel Datsyuk and 'greatest goals in nhl history' or some such. Should have a lot of good ones.
Alex Oven-Chicken is one of the G.O.A.T.S. of Ice Hockey. What a player. If you haven't seen anything on Wayne Gretzky I would 1000% recommend him. Absolute Legend.

How can you be ONE of the GOATS. There can be only 1
The first goal at 5:12 is known as "The Goal." Usually shown at the end, not the beginning, of highlight compilations, it's one of the very best goals anybody has ever seen. My favorite part is the defender in red, #14, who throws his arms up in the air in disbelief. You can almost hear him saying, "You've gotta be kidding me! What else could I have done?"

As a life long hockey fan and a life long capitals fan its been a joy watching Ovechkin's entire career. A bit of info about the boards, the bottom of the boards are usually wood covered in a plastic, the glass is Plexiglas and its designed to give / break. Also yes Ovi is chasing down 99 for 1st all time on the NHL goal scoring list he's over 800 goals and sits at #2 all time.
Ovechkin is a bull in a china shop. he is a superstar who is fearless putting himself into the mix physically and scoring prolifically.

@@tracybtchinstructor4197 lmao idk if the NHL is a china shop though but damn
Ovechkin has the 4th most hits in NHL history and the second most goals of any player in history.
He’s the Great 8 or ALEX the Great for a reason. Pure catalytic passion. He brought a life to the Capitals franchises dream about. Not to mention he’s just not slowing down. Embodiment of consistency
he is the second leading goal scorer in NHL history and still playing. Only Wayne Gretzky is ahead of him.
Ovechkin is the second top scorer all time. He’s now quite old for a hockey player (37) and is still scoring at the same rate he always has. His game has evolved a fair bit from his young days, where you’d see a lot more flashy goals similar to the first one (that was during his rookie year), into becoming a sharpshooter who scores the majority of his goals off of one-timer slap shots from the high circle like the shots you see later in the video. They’re so effective because he has amazing aim, as well as the fact that he has one of the fastest shots in the league with him recording a slap shot velocity of 110mph in a skills competition one year. The average player cant shoot it over 100, and every other player in the contest was a defenceman, who are usually the only players who do take slapshots in games, and they tend to be bigger and stronger than forewards. The longevity of his scoring ability is one of the most impressive things about him. He’s less than 100 goals away from the all time scoring record held by Wayne Gretzky
Ovechkin had one of the most emotional Stanley Cup celebrations ever. The relief on his face when he realized he and his team won, and the scream he let out when he hoisted the cup were both incredible.

That was probably the only time I’ve ever teared up on a team winning a championship. To me, it is the second greatest cup left in NHL history, with the first being Joe Sakic handing the Stanley cup over to Raymond Borque.
Ovi (The Great 8) currently sits #2 all time in goals. The amazing thing about all those one-timers is that they’re coming from the left circle called his “office”. We ALL: fans, commentators, defenseman and GOALIES know they’re coming and where they’re coming from and they STILL can’t be stopped. Ovechkin is just flat out fun to watch. On the ice he’s physical, passionate and dedicated. Off the ice he’s great with the fans and kind of a goof ball lol. So much so that after their Stanley Cup win he and the rest of the Caps randomly celebrated with fans for like a week. Up to and including getting their drink on and swimming in fountains.
The “first-time shot” is called a one-timer. Ovi is one of the best at that. The “stick shuffle” is called stick handling. The most skilled players can stick handle faster than you can see sometimes. If you want to see great stick handling, check out the best dangles. The glass is now plexiglass, but it used to be regular glass. Check out glass-breaking hits. They’re self explanatory. Pavel Datsyuk doesn’t play anymore, but he has some of the smoothest hands in the game. He’d be a great guy to react to next.
Ovechkin is not only one of the two greatest scorers of all time, he did so in an era that was difficult to score, and he had to deal with shorten seasons because of the pandemic. Normally, his production should have started to decline about 4 years ago, and yet, he remains one of the top scorers in the league, mostly because no one knows how to stop his one-timer still (as you rightly guessed, it is one of the hardest shot to pull off). Even if he doesn't beat the goal record, he will probably be recognized as the greatest goal scorer ever (although Wayne Gretzky will still be recognized as the GOAT).
The hits are really strong in hockey, no lie. I was once treated to a very great seat at a home game of the Winnipeg Jets. I was center ice, 3rd row. Those seats are over $400 each, but it was a gift to me. And the force they drive each other into the boards is insane when you're that close, the whole barrier/boards/plexiglass bow out a foot or two as they slam each other into the boards at what is probably about 40-50 mph...
We adore him here in DC. He’s the 2nd leading goal scorer in NHL history. There’s no one like Ovi, the GR8

whenever he scores the crowd goes nuts. We could be down by a bunch but everybody is happy to see him score. Our bucket list for each game is to win and have ovi score lmao. After every game I would look at the stat sheet to see if he scored.
gonna need a reaction to “The Fight Night at the Joe”, which escalated the Detriot Red Wings Colorado Avalanche rivalry to levels the sport hasn’t seen since.
You mentioned about how he wasn't playing the puck around 4:30... and thats a super important lesson that separates many players from the rest. You always play the body, not the puck. The puck can go anywhere... a player can only go where their hips go/point! Understanding that and not shying away from the physical play is what makes him the GOAT. He has the complete game, physical, scoring, iq/awareness, etc..
he’s by far the best goal scorer ever. if he played against the goalies wayne gretzky played against he would’ve scored on damn near every shot.
My favourite goal is the classic power forward fast move to the middle, around the D man, protect the puck, cut across the front of the move and push it past the goalie. All power and sheer determination.
I absolutley love Ovi he such a good player, also I love seeing youtubers/influencers that usually dont watch hockey look at hockey and find it amazing
I would’ve preferred if you would’ve watched the biggest hits in goals updated. Currently Alexander Ovechkin is number two in history for the NHL in goals. He has the most power-play goals. Most 50 goal seasons. Most on the road goals . He is the true goat of hockey, he has it all . At 6’2” 230lb he is a beast. But at heart he’s a funny lighthearted individual. Easily my favourite player of all time, and I have fallen hockey for decades
Wayne Gretzky got the record for most goals in a career at 894 goals. The second was Gordie Howe at 801. Gretzky was always thought to be untouchable as the game changed a lot in the last 40 years, with the goalies being way better, and the game tighter. Couple of years ago when Ovechkin hit 600 goals, people started to maybe think he could come close. But Ovechkin didn't slow down at all against all odds. Even at 37 yeards old, his scoring pace haven't changed from earlier in his career. He's at 812 right now, he passed Gordie Howe this year. And he still have a contract for 3 years after this season.
Ok, I know he’s not NHL yet, but do a video on Conner Bedard, he is this junior 17 year old who is predicted to be amazing, he already has so many highlights and I think he’ll impress you greatly if you react to some videos on him
I'm not a fan of the capitals, but there is no denying that Ovi is probably the most exciting player that I have ever seen play hockey tbh. When the crowd goes wild after a stunning Ovi goal and he just throws himself against the glass in celebration is magic to watch tbh.
I suspect someone already mentioned this, but he is the #2 goal scorer of all time, arguably the best simply because of the advancements in gear and ability of the goalies, but numerically he is second with 820+ goals so far. The top goal scorer is Wayne Gretzky with 894, and it is predicted that Ovechkin should be able to pass him before her retires...quite possibly be the only person to score 900+ goals in the regular season career.
Its interesting that you talked about his skating of all things early on in the video. He is a good skater (although there are many better skaters than him in the league) but we tend to forget about that because he is such a prolific goal scorer and a heavy physical player on top of that. Definitely one of the best goal scorers of all time, and maybe the best by the end of it.

WAS a good skater. He's below par now at 37
Great video again!! If you're impressed by a player putting the puck through someone else's legs and then scoring, wait until you see them put it through their OWN legs and then score!
When it comes to goals, hockey is just like footy. All goals are good goals. 😁 Great reaction. #ALLCAPS ❤
I really love your enthusiasm! I’d like to point if some common lingo so you can use it in future videos, if you don’t mind. When it’s a really power shot, it’s called a Howitzer. The “first time” shot is called a “one-timer”! And when they don’t pull back very far to shoot is called a “wrist shot” or “wrister” when they pull back a ways and shoot, it’s called a slap shot.
If you want to watch the story of an amazing hockey rivalry that went on for nearly a decade you should review the Red Wings-Avalanche Rivalry. They were constantly competing for the Stanley Cup and in the process some bad blood developed. Amazing playoff games that resulted in multiple fights and penalties. Thanks for your great reactions, especially on hockey. Loving your channel. 👏👏🇨🇦
He's the greatest goal scorer of all time. He'll be #1 in goals all time passing Gretzky by around January 2025. The best part is he's been with the same team his entire career. The Washington Capitals.

Ovechkin is on his way to becoming the player with the most goals scored. he's currently sitting on 812 goals, putting him behind Wayne Gretzky with 894 goals.
If you like the passion of hockey. I would point you to the 1972 summit series between Canada and Russia. First time the two countries played professional players as it was only Olympic hockey in those days internationally. We had the iron curtain and Russia was winning all the international games as our professionals can't play internationally. Also cold war and capitalist don't play well with communists, so we had a series. We had a 4 game Canada and 4 games Russia play off. Now this thing got crazy. Ovechkin is a product of the Russia hockey system and yes he is very close to becoming and will become the leading point getter in the NHL. He will pass the great one's record soon. (Gretzky). Russia in that series taught Canadians how to play hockey and the game here change forever. All that fancy play we like that is Russian inspired. The hits and individualism on the ice that is the Canadian game. The two styles were very quickly adopted in both countries as the series came down to one goal in the last few seconds of game 8. September 28th 1972.
I’ve been a Caps fan since their expansion year and have loved watching Ovi all these years. His dad’s death may be what ultimately stops him in his pursuit of Gretzky.
Another really good one is Brayden point, he doesn’t score a ton but he has so many highlight goals
Best goal in hockey is called the Michigan and so few players can pull one off. Look up Trevor Zegras for some of those.
He is around 80 or so away from tying Wayne Gretzky’s ( the G.O.A.T. ) record of most goals ever scored. Gretzky retired in 1999 with 61 unbroken records . Since his retirement only two of his records have been broken.
So interesting to listen to someone watch Ovechkin who doesn't know the Great 8. He's not expecting the one-timers from his office, or the crazy acrobatics at the net. So many of the goals you saw were important in the games, yes, but more, recently basically every goal has been a milestone of some sort, tying or passing players on all time lists of one kind or another. It's going to be a little bit now before he can get at Gretsky, but basically everyone including Gretsky himself expects him to become the all time leading scorer in the league before he retires.
Not only is he physical and a "good" goal scorer. He is arguably the greatest goal scorer of all time.
And the fans go WILD! Amazing
being from DC he's quite literally the best athlete this town has ever seen
He currently has 812 goals. Record is 894. Trying to beat that. Has three years left on last contract. Then it will be over. Some if his absolute best goals not included here. Especially one against the Rangers in 2015.
Find a video of Bob Probert. He was known as the “Heavy Weight Champion” of the NHL. His story is a tragic one, but his fights were LEGENDARY.
Because you did Ovechkin today , I would definitely recommend doing a video on Sidney Crosby who has had a long time rivalry with Ovechkin
Ovechkin has the second most goals ever. 1st, Wayne Gretzky 894, 2nd, Alex Ovechkin 812+ , 3rd, Gordie Howe 801.
Wayne Gretzky has the most NHL goals in history (894). Alexander Ovechkin is currently at 813 (and is the only other player to score 800+). If Ovechkin can stay productive for 2-3 more seasons, he will pass Gretzky.
Alex is so much fun to watch!
if you want more good videos theres playoff hockey videos because the stanley cup finals are the best in all sports its amazing to watch
Ovechkin is now 2nd all time in regular season goals behind only Gretzky. The chase is on...
Wings Vs Avalanche brawl history 😮 that would be a big one to watch for the views and such
Love your reactions bro! Mcdavid is certainly the best player in the world right now, total package! and Ovi is one of the best scorers of all time. Look up Scott Stevens greatest hits... he ended careers!!! and Wayne Gretzky is the greatest scorer of all time.
I love how around the end he ligit just asked one of the best hockey related debate questions, Snipe or Dangle?
Within the next 2-3 years he will be the all time goal scorer in NHL history! Also go check out Auston Matthews from the Leafs
It's called a puck, not a ball. The plastic barrier is just called the glass. I enjoy your channel. Keep it up.
sometimes the best goals are mixed with important goals, as in this video. when you say stick shuffle, it's actually called stick handling. "dekes" are combinations of stick handling and sometimes body movements to confuse a goalie or a defender. When you saw connor mcdavid, he is the best at getting through players with dekes and he does it at amazing speed. Ovechkin is the master of the "one-timer". shooting the puck before you stop or cradle it. goalies know it's coming, but ovechkin's shot is too powerful & accurate to stop.
Kiddo, keep doing your hockey reactions. Search up line brawls. Cheers from across the pond lad
When u move the puck with the stick it’s called stickhandling and when go around a player or goalie it’s called deking. And the white and yellow barriers around the ice are called boards
Presently Alex Ovechkin is #2 in total goals scored - 830. The most is Wayne Gretzky at 894 but it is expected that Ovechkin will pass that.
Ovi is the greatest goal scorer of all time. Gotta react to sidney crobsy next. Sid and ovi started in the league the same year and had a messi ronaldo relationship
He might just be my favorite player of all time just because he brings it all and with such energy and excitement.
Mert, I know I commented this is the last one, but I think in honor of the Super Bowl this week, you should react to the NFL Throwback’s “Super Bowl plays that get increasingly more insane.” I think you’d enjoy it.
He (The great 8 )and Sidney Crosby were the best two players of his generation he's getting up there now his mid thirties. Connie McDavid is this generation's great player and arguably one of all time.
Ovi is an absolute beast ! 😂
Russian Machine Never Breaks. You noticed that one hit was very late. You can get called by the referee for a late hit. The rule is to play the puck. Also, it’s not accomplishing much if you also go down after hitting a player. Alex is 37 now, and trying to remain a top scorer. He doesn’t throw his body around as much as he used to. He is a proud Russian, and is a Putin favorite (of course), but we love him anyway.
You should react to Connor Bedard, is only 17 years old, but has a generational talent.
Alex ovechkin is the most electric player in any sport!
His legacy is that he is the greatest goal scorer of all time.
The greatest pure goal scorer of all time
I've always loved clean tip in goals
He's the 2nd highest goal scorer of all-time behind Gretzky. He'll likely beat his record of 893.
He's second all time scorer. There is a VERY good chance he will beat Wayne Gretzky for the most all time by the time he retires. The guy is insane. He doesn't move on the power play. He will stand there. And everyone knows he does it. But his one touch shot is so powerful it doesn't matter how ready you are, it's almost impossible to stop it
Watch NHL saves they are insane.. the goalies are nuts.
That little nodded his head that’s him actually just straightening out his helmet
Close to passing Gretzky for most goals in nhl history. Hes definitely not afraid of the physicallity. Ovi is a goat.😊
The one timers are usually the defensemen main shot to learn
so Ovechkin currently has the most goals of any active player and is in pursuit of the all time record. The next four active players for most goals scored have less hits combined than Ovechkin does
*Ovechkin levels Marchand* Everybody liked that.
Chara 6'9 beast, one of the highly respected players in nhl history
"Ice hockey is made for him, and he's made for ice hockey" couldn't have said it any better. Ovi is the GOAT in my opinion
he on pace to beat the greatest goalscorer to ever live (Wayne Gretzky) with his NHL stats , so yea one of the best !
he will pass Gretzky for the most goals in NHL history in the next couple of seasons, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.

I'm more of a Sidney Crosby fan. I would love to see you react to Wayne Gretzky. He was a legend. Another legend was Maurice "Rocket" Richard but it was a long while ago so I don't know if there is a lot of footage of him.
Love the first reaction to ovi’s nasty one-T
Ovechkin kisses his glove after he scores because when his brother Sergei played he did it but when Sergei was 15 years old and Alex 10, Sergei died in a car crash so to recanice him he named his son Sergei
