This was the video which first turned me on to Steve N Seagulls. Love that wrench on the anvil, pure genius!
I’m speachless. This is excellent on a whole different scale. LIVE !
This is just pure fun and makes me smile 😊 I can appreciate the talent level of these guys. I live in the Appalachian Mountains & Bluegrass is a very familiar thing for me!! Great choice Fil 👌🏼
They're from FINLAND??? I never knew this. Brilliant!
What A great amount of fun these musicians are having! I love it!!
I remember the first time I saw this video. It crack me up and at the same time it was a really good cover!
I love all these odd ball versions of rock music absolutely brillant
I was Thunderstruck myself when you said they were from Finland. Can't believe they aren't from the U.S.A.

Absolutely love this ❤️
I’ve never seen Fil smile so much while watching a video! Love it!
These guys were barely born when this song came out...they come from another country where English is not their first language and they are playing in the style of the quintessential American sound of bluegrass. Gotta love music!!!! Thnx Fil !!!!
I’m so happy to see respect for these guys. I was with Lars Ulrich and I asked him about these guys, and he loved them. He loves bands doing great and different covers of their songs.
so much talent so little time to hear it all :) Love Blue grass love Ac Dc love cross over :)
I just love Steve 'n' Seagulls. Great music, great fun :)
Everything they do is just as awesome!
What a fun video of a bluegrass version of AC/DC Thunderstruck and accompanying analysis.
IF you EVER get the chance to see these guys ...IT"S A MUST~~ They put on the best shows... saw them in 2016 in Colorado...they're fucking amazing. Finland turns out some great musicians, and yes...they wear those exact clothes when they play... amazingly entertaining show.
You can’t help but love these finnish bush men! 🤘🏻
I listen to these guys everytime I'm throwing back a few cold beers and sing along.
Just when I thought I'd seen it all... These guys are really great!! Thanks Fil.
True musicians..i want a hat like the bass player too
Saw them live on stage last year - greatest fun ever! I really recommend going!
The spoons😂😂the accordion 😂😂 and the lawnmower are gold.
EVERYONE should find their channel and watch all the vids...simply amazing covers of your favorite songs. All with a bluegrass kick! I like to call it Progressive Bluegrass!
This is musical brilliance!
Going to watch their concert in Gothenburg, Sweden in few weeks :)
This was actually freakin` awesome!!!!!
I love these guys. I mean spoons and a wrench on anvil? Now that's music :-)
Back around again. Great to see you again.
Love that banjo!

Big fan here also. My first introduction was when they came out with Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, still love that song.
Ahh! So cool you did this one. It’s my favorite of the much-covered Thunderstruck. Excellent analysis, as always from you! So glad you confirmed it was, indeed, live.
I was not expecting that... I loved it! Thank you for introducing them 😊
I'm so happy to be introduced to a band from another part of the world, one that doesn't get common exposure in the US. We need it here. This band is fantastic. Thank you!
Their cover of Iron Maiden's "Trooper" is probably my favorite cover they do, especially since it makes so much sense using the folk instruments to help tell the "story".
WOW! I love bluegrass, and these guys are awesome!
Roy Clark would have welcomed them on Her Haw! Probably joined in!

These guys are awesomely talented musicians, they deserve the recognition. There are more videos of their covers around, check them out.
Thank you for reacting to this. I’ve been following these guys for a while - and this was the song that got me. Their musicianship is no joke.
This was creative as hell!!! Fun and entertaining! Talented bunch of musicians! Tight and spot on musically and vocally! Loved the assortment of musical instruments they used. Absolutely LOVED it!! ACDC should be proud😎 Thanks Fil! You made my Saturday morning and put a smile on my face! Great knowledgeable Analysis! 😎🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦🇨🇦
Fil? You didn't mention one of the awesome bits: The way the drummer seamlessly switches between drums and spoons two times
This is fabulous! Thank God for youtube. How else could we hear a bluegrass band from Finland playing Thunderstruck & other heavy metal classics on acoustic banjo, acoustic accordion, stand up bass & most important an acoustic anvil? How can a serious musician in the 21st century expect to sell multi-platinum albums without overdrive, distortion, fuzz & wah-wah pedals for his or her anvil? The only thing that Steve'n'Seagulls can offer is great musical skills & vocals & an incredible sense of humor.
They almost seem like they're classically trained with some of their techniques. They certainly have practiced this well and look at each other for the timing which is essential. Really amazing group!
Ya Fil👍These guys kill it! Lov me some Bluegrass!👏👏👏
OMG! That was GREAT!
This was unexpected and fun!! So cool!! Thanks for another great analysis !
Have been fans of theirs for years. Saw them when they toured the US in 2015? Was one of the most entertaining concert I've been to in a long time.
How to tune The Anvil: Find the right object to beat it with. Crescent wrenches (used here) conveniently come as sets that progressively scale up in mass, just find the one that sings B when struck on your specific anvil. Also, hitting different points on an anvil changes the resulting ring.
My favorite version.
Very Cool! Great video Fil!
Please do more from Steve'n'Seagulls. They are SOOOOO good!
I expected the guy on the lawnmower to ride up and say... Hey AC/DC! " You think you can do Thunderstruck? Hold my beer". They had a group of hillbillies from the U.S. down to a T. Great job!

Just goes to show you. You can make music with anything. Anvil, spoons... Great analysis video! As always. ❤️🤘🏼

That was great. They were having fun and it felt like it.
Steve'n'Seagulls is a truly blow away band. Their renditions of rock/metal classics are so cool. Really excellent analysis Fil. As a musician, I really appreciate your detailed and insightful observations. Rock!!
For an live performance, friggin amazing. The banjo player never misses a note, the accordion nails it, even the spoons are "spot on". Great analysis, thank you. Be safe.
Fil, I just started learning the riff a few days ago. This banjo dude just blew my mind. It's a challenge to pick every note, but it sounds so good compared to pull offs. Just do it. The nervous system gets confused with this open string business, but it can learn to deal with it. Banjo man did a great job. They all did. Great analysis, very entertaining.
What a fantastic good time, these guys are wonderful and make me smile😃
Absolutely ❤️ this, Australian rock anthem from a group of Finns playing bluegrass 😊
Sir, thank you once again for keeping a wide variety of music on your channel. The joy of hearing new music played so well will probably be against the law soon. It so interesting that these gentlemen are from Finland. The first 20 years of my life these guys were living in my neighborhood. (Joplin MO). As always be safe
I've been waiting for you to check this one out!
i seen this before i like it wow they rock they are lock in with each other ad tight epic

Ailish Mc Bride - Scania 164.... I heard it for the first time a few days ago and was blown away by her talent...
This band is so much fun. Their vids are great. Always love the arrival of the accordion guy.
Heard this years ago and love it 😻
The tractor is American, the bib overalls could have been made in Oshkosh Wisconsin. The banjo, mandolin and drums all could have been from America and these guys would look right at home playing at the Grand Ole Opry. Even Dolly Parton would book them at her amusement park in Tennessee. Who would have thought they are not an American band from the U.S.A.
@onsesejoo2605

That brand is international. Those type of tractors in Finland are British made and it has a strong reputation in that country. That 165 is an archaetypical one since it was their most popular model there back in the 70's. :) American made are a rarity.

Good analysis Fil. Another thing you see about this piece is the fact that it uses syncopation in parts (mostly the accordion), which they do very well, something not normally emphasized in Blue Grass music. It gives it that little extra interesting flavor. Thanks again for reminding me of this rendition. Keep up the good work!
Yeeeee Hawww! Thanks for this Fil! 😁 Just in time for the Houston Livestock and Rodeo. This is refreshing hearing a Finnish group playing Bluegrass. They are like Hayseed Dixie who formed in 2001 in Nashville, TN whose first album was A Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC.🤘🏻❤️✌🏻
The action on that long arm mountain harp is perfect. It's got to be to be able to pull that off especially on this instrument. Harmonies and timing are absolutely perfect.
Ooo! You're a music science guy! Listening to musicians react is very nice, one gets much more insights to the song than us casual listeners do. I thought it was a neat trick to paly a metal song in greengrass genre, but my respect to the band grew up with this reaction even more.
This actually was a promo video the guys sent to their producer or agent to something in the music biz I dont even think they had their 1st album done yet.
They definitely put their own spin on it!. Great version, video and analysis! ^m^
Yeah, was gonna recommend this, thought I'd better check. I'll find something for you though. When I first clicked on their vid I laughed, then they started playing and it was "holy crap, this is music" shortly after "this is REALLY good music". I wonder if guys from AC/DC have seen it. I would love to see the comment. Maybe like Simon's on the Disturbed cover of "Sound of Silence", where the composer says "great stuff', and even links it, apparently. If this is really live sound, that adds a whole crap load more 'wow'. Very few groups sound like that live. Yeah, I wonder if the guys slapping to quantize a venue for aftereffect have done their open barn??? LOL My guess is they were at least partially constrained by the one percussion instrument, the very heavy one. The very dead open air acoustic really works here. If you reverbed and garbaged it up it would lose quality, MHO. I wrote the above before you said similar, but I left it. I learned at least three things here, THAT is a good video! They need to hit the US where some of this is/was done, the Appalachians. I would go see them.
I thought they were from Kentucky? Could have fooled me. But this is proof that a great song you can play in most any style. My most favorite version of this song. You are a professor of music. I learned a lot from you tonight. Thanks.

They blew me away the first time I heard this a few months ago. I think the accordion, anvil & the spoons were the icing on the cake for this one. Might I suggest that you take a listen to 2cellos "Thunderstruck" official video. You can tell from the video that there was layering done in studio, but you get the gist of these guys masterful playing of their instruments. They have a large catalog of songs they have covered, I think you would enjoy any one of them. There are also live videos and my favorite is 2cellos "Whole Lotta Love" [live Zagreb, Croatia] The sounds they have coming out of their cellos are totally awesome. Thanks, Phil!

Thanks for this analysis Fil. I was wanting your out take on this creative talent of wonder in a category all their own, like no others, since Earl Scruggs and Lester Flatt. Lol. Loving it.👍😊
When you mentioned you didn't know how they tuned the anvil, I had to go back and look a little closer. The ring isn't coming from the anvil as much as it is from the wrench. By trying different size wrenches, you can get dialed into the note you want.
